These 2 more players he's on about. If one of them is this trialist and the other one is Healy or the likes would you be a bit annoyed?

Keegan joked on Saturday night that, while Gutierrez speaks fluent English, his next signing cannot speak any English at all. He's not resigned Peter Beardsley has he?

Kevin Keegan puts Coloccini on red alert Aug 11 2008 by Alan Oliver, Evening Chronicle Fabricio Coloccini KEVIN KEEGAN is waiting for the green light to say Newcastle United have signed Argentinian defender Fabricio Coloccini in a near £10m switch from Deportivo La Coruna. Once the United boss gets it, he will put Coloccini on red alert for Sunday’s Premier League opener with Manchester United at Old Trafford. Pictures of club owner Mike Ashley sporting United’s purple away shirt with Coloccini’s name emblazoned on the back were beamed around the world from Saturday’s friendly with Valencia at St James’s Park. Coloccini sat just along the row from the club’s top brass but, even though the Chronicle reported United’s interest in the Argentinian international on Saturday, July 26, there has been no official confirmation he has signed. The 26-year-old has been on Tyneside since Friday and has already had one training session with the players he hopes will be his new colleagues. With the season’s opener at Old Trafford now just six days away, Keegan is naturally desperate to see the deal finally wrapped up. When I asked the United manager today if Coloccini would be handed a potential baptism of fire at Old Trafford he did not hesitate in telling me: “Yes – if his fitness levels are right. We will watch how quickly he integrates this week. “His team has been in South America playing the games we played 10 days ago, but he looks very fit. We will wait and see.” Deportivo are in Venezuela but, because of his impending transfer to United, Coloccini stayed behind and has been training with the club’s youth players before heading for Tyneside. If for any reason Coloccini does not face up to his Argentinian colleague Carlos Tevez in Manchester, Keegan is likely to opt for a central defensive pairing of Steven Taylor and Claudio Cacapa. They have started all six of United’s friendlies in the absence of Abdoulaye Faye, who reported back from the summer break with an injury and is yet to return to full training. Meanwhile, if Keegan is looking anxiously at the Coloccini situation he has every right to wonder whether United are going to receive the paperwork which would allow Jonas Gutierrez to play at Old Trafford on Sunday. Gutierrez did not leave Real Mallorca on the best of terms, and the La Liga outfit are dragging their heels in releasing his paperwork. However, on a more positive note, Keegan claimed on Saturday that he hopes to make a couple more signings before Sunday. He does have a Portuguese left-back on trial from Boavista, whose agent is the Gateshead-based Frank McAvennie, and this is a position he has been wanting to strengthen all summer. Keegan joked on Saturday night that, while Gutierrez speaks fluent English, his next signing cannot speak any English at all.

WTF? Nothing new here on the Derdiyok front... Not mentioned in the press - so it seems to be bollox. Is he worth it would you say?

I'm expecting a loss on this one but which team wouldn't? All I hope is we go for their throat and give it a go, you can't ask for anymore. If we get another 2 top quality players in this week then it could be a pretty close match.

Love and Smith heading for Everton as manager Moyes bolsters his strikeforce By Sportsmail Reporter Last updated at 6:58 AM on 11th August 2008 David Moyes will finally make his first foray into the transfer market this week by wrapping up deals for Vagner Love and Alan Smith. Everton will need to smash their club record transfer fee of £11.25million to sign Brazil striker Love on a permanent basis but a 12-month loan deal is likely at first. Newcastle's Smith, who was booed by his own fans on Saturday, will join Love at Goodison Park but the spending won't stop there, and Everton are hopeful they will add Real Zaragoza striker Diego Milito, Rennes midfielder Stephane M'Bia and Joao Moutinho of Sporting Lisbon to their squad before the window closes. Moyes needs reinforcements, as the 1-1 draw in the final preseason game against PSV Eindhoven on Saturday showed.

Still makes me chuckle how one minute it was Ronaldinho they were after and now they'd be lucky to get Robbie Fowler. Mark Hughes must be thinking. Doh!

Ashley promises to splash cash as Coloccini signs on at Newcastle By Malcolm Brown Last updated at 8:50 PM on 09th August 2008 Comments (0) Add to My Stories Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is ready to sanction more big-money moves to bolster Kevin Keegan's squad after the club finally landed their third signing of the summer. St James' Park chief Ashley sported the name of Argentina defender Fabricio Coloccini on the back of his shirt prior to yesterday's friendly against Spanish side Valencia. True colours: Newcastle United's owner Mike Ashley (right) The central defender now looks set to join his new colleagues at training tomorrow, after Newcastle completed a £10million deal for the player from Deportivo la Coruna. Kevin Keegan loses closest ally as Cox quits Newcastle as assistant manager Ashley paraded his new shirt just 24 hours after committing his long-term future to St James' Park and his show of faith will be music to Keegan's ears after weeks of uncertainty. Coloccini joins his fellow countryman, winger Jonas Gutierrez, and midfielder Danny Guthrie, who signed from Liverpool, as the Newcastle manager's only acquisitions of a frustrating summer. But with speculation that Ashley could sell out to the highest bidder now over, it would appear further new signings at Newcastle are imminent. Keegan is still keen to recruit a left-back to challenge Spaniard Jose Enrique. The Under-21 international was omitted from yesterday's starting line-up following a disappointing pre-season. Michael Owen, meanwhile, has been told he owes it to Newcastle's fans to drop his wage demands and sign a new deal to make up for three disappointing years. He has started only 37 league games for the club after a series of injuries, yet he could walk away for nothing next summer. Former Newcastle winger Chris Waddle said: 'If the club have offered him a decent deal, for the fans' sake he should say: "I haven't shown you what I can do", and give it another few years.'

what was said about Smith exactly? I'll say one thing about Beardsley, my favourite ever nufc player but at these talk-ins the concensus is that he comes across pretty classless at times I was quite shocked myself at the vitriol aimed at some of our players but to be fair to Beardsley (using his seemingly favourite phrase ) he was only being honest and when you're paying £35 quid a head to listen to someone, you want them to be honest. Furthermore this is a man who graced our shirt and who loves the club, a fan who is obviously unhappy like a lot of us when he sees players wearing the shirt who are not worthy of it. I personally thought some of the things he said was uncalled for though because of his close ties to the club. Some of the comments would have went back to the players without doubt. Regarding Smith, he basically said he was s**** and didn't deserve his wages nor his place in the squad. He said Big Sam shouldn't have signed him (that we were conned) and that KK will look to get him out along with others due to their lack of ability which is essential for KK. He was the but of much ridicule, quite uncalled for at times in my opinion. I say that as someone who prefers those connected to the club to put on a United front. Was a piss funny night though. This just makes me respect Keegan even more. Despite always being loyal to a fault, he knows when it's time to give up on a lost cause. Keeping Barton?

Jesus wept. I've watched this guy for a good whil, ever since he was a youngster coming up through the Nigeria youth teams. He could be very special under someone like Keegan, who will encourage his natural instincts going forward. He is a very committed player and is a pleasure to watch play the game. 100% always. He isn't perfect but he will definitely grow and improve as he puts in the work. Forgive my excitement. Having just re-read my post, it is fair to say I am somewhat embarrassed. Sure you haven't contracted the same virus as Rooney?
