  3. i would take sam, he is different class to what we have and would transform our coaching/scouting methods etc cant see it though
  4. houillier?? having said that, the journal hints that roeder may be off in summer anyway unless 'results dramatically improve'

    Duff

Or he could of just wanted to play for Newcastle. It's not that hard to believe to be honest. You're right I believe, Spurs' need for Duff was greater than yours. It's a fact that Newcastle offered both Parker and Duff more in wages than Spurs were prepared to offer. In Duff's case, there was also a bigger signing on fee and Duff's agent (Pat Devlin) has his boy employed at SJP. All those things contributed to DD signing for Newcastle (so I was told at the time). Or he could of just wanted to play for Newcastle. It's not that hard to believe to be honest. May have been that as well. I've no complaints that he did, it's a short career, he does what he thinks is best for him. I'm sure Spurs will get the right person for the LW spot in time. i think duff would suit you down to the ground! i hope jol comes back with his speculated £7m bid

  7. at last http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcastleunited/sundaysun/tm_headline=scouting-network-needs-rebuilding%26method=full%26objectid=18807155%26siteid=50081-name_page.html Scouting network needs rebuildingMar 25 2007 By The Sunday Sun Glenn Roeder last night vowed to rebuild a Newcastle scouting network he claims is all but non-existent . . . In order to identify transfer targets worthy of his quest for success at St James's Park. While Roeder describes his summer player search as his biggest challenge as United boss, his first - and biggest - signing of the summer may perform off the pitch. "We haven't got the recruitment personnel - ie the scouting network - we need, and we're working on that," Roeder revealed. "We've got one full-time scout. Frank Arnesen, at Academy level at Chelsea, has got more than 20 full-time scouts all around the world looking for young talent under 21. Story continues ADVERTISEMENT "The chairman is trying to help me and we've highlighted someone we want to employ. "We are trying to persuade him to leave his current club to come to Newcastle, and he would help me greatly. "We would be employing his address book. He has got contacts, and we haven't."
  8. insert glenn roeder rat joke here - http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcastleunited/sundaysun/tm_headline=toon-join-rat-race%26method=full%26objectid=18807152%26siteid=50081-name_page.html Toon join Rat raceMar 25 2007 By Neil Farrington, The Sunday Sun Newcastle are eyeing boys from Brazil - and hunting a Rat - as they draw up their summer spending plans. United boss Glenn Roeder has revealed the Magpies scouted players from SIX countries on international duty yesterday. And Brazil were among them. While Roeder watched Portugal play Belgium, Newcastle were also watching would-be buys in action for Holland, Romania, Chile and Brazil. And Romanian left-back Razvan Rat has emerged as a potential United target. Story continues ADVERTISEMENT Roeder went to Lisbon after telling the Sunday Sun that he has an interest in players on both sides. But he also revealed: "We're also out to see Holland and Romania. There are targets in those two teams. "And (chief scout) David Mills is off to see Brazil and Chile. There are one or two targets in those two teams." Roeder took in the Portugal game having already had midfielder Joao Moutinho, wingers Nani and Simao and defender Marco Caneira watched in Sporting Lisbon's defeat of Porto last Saturday. Newcastle scouts have been busy in Portugal for weeks, watching Benfica's right-back Nelson and their Brazilian centre-back Luisao several times. United's interest in the Holland side was focused on left-back Urby Emanuelson and strikers Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Ryan Babel - all confirmed Roeder targets. But 25-year-old Rat, currently with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, would be a cheaper left-back option.

    Shay Given

shay is a good keeper, the best we have had in years, but he is nothing outstanding imo, and this is why he hasnt been cherry picked by the worlds elite. he is a very very good shot stopper, but imo this is a given (pardon the pun) for any top flight goalkeeper, or certainly should be (paul robinson the obvious exception). however, his distribution drives me mental, it puts us under pressure all of the time, and with our back four that doesnt help. someone else should take his goal kicks tbh.

    Just seen....

wow! that ties in with this nufc related spot-a-thon delightfully!
  12. from todays chron regarding huntington and his new contract "He has a lot of qualities. He is 6ft 4ins but needs to improve on his heading. He has pace and is decent enough on the ball and wants to learn - and as a coach I have to say he is easy to work with. "And while he is nowhere near the finished article, I expect him to be challenging our two central defenders next season - whoever they are." This last statement from Roeder is significant and, speaking personally, I will be surprised if Bramble, Moore or Onyewu are still at St James' Park at the start of next season. My view that Newcastle United will never win anything while Bramble is in their team caused a big breach with Sir Bobby Robson, which has never been healed, but it is something I stand by.
  13. and the chronicle backs this up by revealing huntington wil sign a new deal 'in the next 48 hours'

    fergie's rant

ALEX FERGUSON launched a foul-mouthed attack on a TV reporter in a bust-up over Cristiano Ronaldo. Manchester United's boss called Sky's Geoff Shreeves a 'f*****g bastard' and told him to 'f**k off'. Ferguson was furious with Shreeves for questioning his Portuguese wing wizard about allegedly cheating for his controversial penalty winner against Middlesbrough in Monday's FA Cup clash. The fiery Scot's off-camera rant was so loud a BBC interview with Boro chief Gareth Southgate had to be abandoned. Shreeves grilled Ronaldo about his latest 'cheat' storm in the tunnel after the quarter-final replay. Beeb reporter Ivan Gaskell then tried to record Southgate's verdict on the defeat for Match of the Day, only to have his work wind up on the cutting-room floor thanks to Ferguson. Here is the full transcript of the blast at Shreeves from Fergie's renowned 'Hairdryer'. SHREEVES: "I asked him . . . " FERGUSON: "F*****g (inaudible) bastard." S: "Don't talk to me like that." F: "F**k off to you." S: "Don't talk to me like that. Don't even think about it." F: "Don't you think about it, you ****. F**k off. Right?" S: "Listen, are you going to do the interview in a professional manner or not? Do you want to do it or not?" F: "You f*****g be professional. You be professional. You're the one." S: "I'm entitled to ask . . . . Cristiano gave the right answer." F: "F*****g hell with your answers." S: "Don't talk to me like that. Go away. If you want to behave civilly, fine. Don't talk to me like that." F: "F**k off." (door slams). Gaskell to Southgate: "I'm going to have to ask that question again, if that's all right." Ferguson later announced he was 'disgusted' at Shreeves' 'disgraceful' TV interview with Ronaldo. He said of Monday's spot-kick and Boro's anger: "It was a clear penalty. It's a shame. They are putting a stigma against the boy that he doesn't deserve."

    Would...

agreed about roeder, he is a decent bloke and his heart is in the right place, i also believe he works extremely hard every day to try and improve us. bottom line is he just isnt good enough and falls short tactically

    Roeder Out

We should do what we didn't last year. It's pretty clear we're going to end up safe this year and we've probably done alright on the money side of things, so in the summer say thanks to Roeder for that and bring in a proper manager. exactly. or even shuffle him into the background, roy evans style. in actual fact, it would be houllier i brought in as well. maybe even roeder dof
  21. Under the present regime it seems we are forever destined to shoot ourselves in the foot with alarming accuracy and regularity. ^^^ summed up by .com the place stinks from top to bottom tbh
