No it's not, it's an argument about Owen.
-
There's no way Owen's worth less than Dyer. Was Dyer worth £7 million?
-
I'm not surprised that you didn't see the prediction regarding Owen but I know quite a few were against Owen coming here, I'm sure Wullie was as strongly against it as I was. I'm sure we both felt that Owen was a very good player but one with injury problems and a player whose transfer fee could have been spent better. Yes we do have to buy quality players in order to qualify for the CL, players like Owen are too risky and should be avoided, he's no good to us when he's sitting in the stands or at Chester Races while the rest of the team are in training for a game in which Owen is injured. It was the same with Woodgate while he was here, a brilliant player but no good in the stands on match day. Newcastle having Owen at the club is as much use as one of us having a Ferrari with only 3 wheels, totally useless.

I wanted Anelka when we bought Owen and I'd have him now, not that we'd get enough money from the sale of Owen to but Anelka. I'd be amazed if we could get £5 million for Owen, no matter how good he is when at his best, he's a liability because of his injuries.

Owen has been a total waste of money and it was predictable, £17 million for a player with a terrible injury record wasn't money well spent. I seem to remember chants of sack the board just before we splashed that money on Owen, I wonder if it had anything to do with the purchase, I wonder if it had anything to do with us out-bidding Liverpool by £9 million. Liverpool were supposed to have bid £8 million so we go and offer £17 million, it just doesn't make sense.

Michael Owen must be the worst signing in the history of our football club, £17 may as well have been flushed down the toilet.
-
The ref also cost us 3 points against Boro in our first game when the ball was handled into the net. I didn't shed any tears either, I was angry about it because I felt it was the wrong decision, it was a knee-jerk decision which didn't need making at that time. It was a poor decision and we've paid for it ever since, the fans lost out while those who made that rash decision have prospered financially, we're the only losers, the fans and Bobby.
-
At least it will allow him time to work out how to spend close to £500,000 that he'll earn while doing nothing except for visiting the races.
-
I'm sure Owen doesn't go out to get injured.

It was well under way by then. I completely utterly STRONGLY disagree. ON the contrary he should have been allowed to manage the season he was sacked in till the end of it and I'm sure he would have got us in much much much better shape than SouMess got us into (14th in the table). From what I remember SBR saying that he wanted to leave NUFC at the end of that season with AS. Bobby was sacked after 4 games with us in 16th, the season before after 4 games we were 17th and finished 5th, he was sacked by two people who knew nothing about football. Edit. The season before we were 19th after 4 games and finished 3rd.

Bloody hell, on a table at his age? Well said though, rivalry shouldn't come into it when somebody like Robson is involved.
-
My memory of his last full season was one with too many games drawn which he needed to put right, he needed to turn them into wins. What we ended up with was an arse that replaced him and turned the draws into defeats.
-
I think we would have qualified for Europe, we'd started poorly for the previous seasons and we'd dropped points in his final season because of bad luck against Boro and Villa.
-
Another good shout although I don't know about a front 6, Keegan would be impressed.
-
I'd go along with that, good choice, the creativity wouldn't be a problem for a team with those 3.
-
I'd be more than happy to see the likes of Cort, Viana and Bramble (not atcually them, young players who were unproven) come to the club if it was under the same circumstances as when they were here. Cort did well at first until he started getting the injuries, Viana was a brilliant prospect and even Bramble has possibilities when he first came.

His handling of Nobby was daft, none of us are perfect. He was also known to try and get a round peg into a square hole at times, Bowyer being an obvious one.
-
I bet he could still do a job in football, he's still got his marbles. He seems to be one of those people who needs to work to keep going.

Our best ever Champions League finish, that's what he brought to the club and it shouldn't be forgotten.
