I'm convinced we'd have gone down under Shepherd, we didn't have a pot to piss in.
-
That's not true as I'm now missing the Norwich game as I'm going away Saturday night.
-
Ryan Taylor has 1 more assist than Ben Arfa has in the league and they have the same number of league goals. Ryan Taylor shouldn't start but I'm sure that he will.

tbf for large swathes of the 80's there was a crap stadium with a poor atmosphere. what we have now is far better than that, not as good as it could or indeed should be but lets not make out it's always been great cos it hasn't. When was this poor atmosphere? I've been going longer than most on here and the atmosphere was generally very good with the odd exception.

Young Kenny once sat on the ball during a game against Luton anarl. A far more memorable and legendary event than what the Irish beanpole ever did for Sunlun. Kenny used to pay into the Popular and get into the Leazes by squeezing through the fence when the copper at the front looked away.

I agree. 6/9 points in the league, can't complain about that with a severely weakened side (no Cabaye, Tiote, Ba, Cisse). Unless you're Mick of course. We also went out of the cup to Brighton so how was our form good? Does the cup not count? Cisse was hardly a miss as we hadn't had him before so we were without BA and Tiote for all of the games and Cabaye for some of them.

Without the African lads we've beaten probably the worst team in the league twice, once in the league and once in the cup and we've beaten QPR 1-0 at home, we've lost to Brighton and Fulham. What were you expecting?

It resulted in our least effective performance of the season so far, it's not something a manager should ever say.
-
That must be one of the biggest over reactions of the year so far, well done.

No its actually putting off sponsors from stumping up anything from £10m to £20m for renaming the ground which could go towards player purchases. What gets me is the longer fans keep putting this graffitti up, the more sponsors will be put off and the longer the ground will be called Sports Direct Arena instead of something like "Virgin Media @ St James Park". These no marks just haven't thought through their actions because Ashley will be quite happy to keep it as the Sports Direct Arena to promote his shops. Brilliant, the fans are costing the club between £10 and £20 million, that's between £10 and £20 million that nobody has been willing to stump up so far. Stick to facts, it's costing the club a few quid to wash off, nothing more.

Wonder if anyone will? Fun Boy Three - Our Lips Are Sealed

I still think Pele is the best but it's getting harder to make a case against Messi.
-
I don't think it will change that often.
-
We'll have to agree to disagree, shirt sponsorship changes nothing for me but I wasn't over the moon about Greenalls, mainly because the beer was piss and I'm sure it was served at the ground while they sponsored the club.
-
The name of the ground will change over time, I still call the Leazes by that name, my kids call it the Sir John Hall because that's all they've ever known.
-
We didn't have any shirt sponsorship until 1980.
-
The sponsorship didn't change the colours of the shirt, before we were sponsored we played in black and white, after we were sponsored we played in black and white. Before the name was changed we played at St James' Park, after the name change we play at SDA.
-
No I didn't complain because the first team colours were always black and white. The design of the strip has changed many times and adding sponsorship was just another design change. If the black and white had changed then I would have complained as much as I will about St James' going down the pan.

Some things are more important than short term gain, not that we've had any.
-
Agreed, it's amazing what one free kick against the mackems can do.
-
A poll would be interesting and I'll be surprised if 90% aren't against the rebranding.
-
You really fall for it, don't you?

Argument well and truly lost.
