  1. We had the most expensively assembled squad ever to play in the Championship, we did what we should have done in a poor league. As for Shearer's 8 game record while here, how does it compare to the record of Hughton before last season? As for his demands, you've also said "pity he didn't spill the details about that," how much did he want to spend?
  2. Nobody knows if that's the case or not, it's impossible to know.
  3. Not giving him the job isn't a major issue, the treatment of him by not even having the decency to tell him is shit and beyond excuse. He didn't deserve to be left waiting for a phone call to tell him the job wasn't his. Shearer took the job on originally to help them and the club out and was left lookiing like an idiot.
  4. Hughton picked the right team that day and the result was a total fluke, they scored with every shot. We played better against them than we had against Swansea.
  5. I've listened to his comments and he is extremely vague. There are a lot of gaps in his story which for whatever reason he was reluctant to fill. He hints that he was offered the job and then they changed their minds without telling him, and inevitably that's the story that the papers will run with. IIRC he said in public at the time that he had given the ownership his blueprint of what was needed to restore the club to good health, and which were effectively his conditions for becoming the manager. Ashley didn't take that up, and instead put the club on the market. I don't recall any kind of hint or rumour that he'd been offered the permanent job. I doubt very much that Shearer is bullshitting, his treatment was shocking and beyond excuse.
  6. I'm not sure that Routledge "has looked far more dangerous/effective," he has big problems getting the ball past the first defender.

I would say that just about sums it up.

It looked like 4-5-1 to me until Airey came on and we looked to go 4-4-2. Airey could have scored and was very unlucky within minutes of coming on. I thought Kadar looked excellent and was probably our best player. Ranger played well and I thought that Vuckic was quiet in the first half but came to life in the second and could have had another goal. Ferguson played some really good football and never stopped running. Edmundsson was full of running and didn’t look out of place against what looked like a physically strong Chelsea side. We played some good football an were very unlucky to not get anything out of the game, the result doesn’t reflect the actual game as I thought that we were the better side and could have scored more than our two goals.

we're playing some really nice football, it's of a really high standard. Ranger had the ball in the net but was off side.
  10. I doubt many of our fans really hate Smith or Nolan, that would be irrational as they are both decent people who were brought to the club to do a job, even if they aren't up to it. That said, not wanting either to play for us is anything but irrational as both are holding us back when they play the way they did on Saturday gone. If you look past the goals Nolan scored in the Championship he's a poor player who rarely contributes to our team and with him and Smith we're playing with 9 men for much of the game. According to Real Radio Hughton has said that he knows what went wrong against Blackpool, if that is true then Nolan and Smith will not be playing against Everton.
  11. The new Amady Faye would be an upgrade on the Smith that played against Blackpool.

Is that analogy supposed to be a close representation of what he's doing?

When you get a loan from a bank you have to pay them back every month with interest, he's taken nothing so far. As for your last sentence, that's daft, it has nothing to do with anybody else and I've had a go at Ashley plenty of times and have done so in this thread. I've said that Sports Direct should pay for advertising in the last 5 or so pages but I'm not going to get hot and bothered if they don't because I think we have benefited indirectly through Ashley putting money in that he's made from Sports Direct, even if he eventually takes it back.

What was the abuse? I can't remember seeing it, I have seen people say that he hasn't taken any out yet and so far that's true.

Ashley hasn't drawn a wage and hasn't taken any money out of the club so far. He could in future but he can't take money out illegally which has been suggested at times. He will probably start to take back his loans and nobody has suggested that he will never do that, I doubt he'll ever take a wage but it's possible.

Yes he's loaning it, does that mean he isn't putting it in?

I'm not sure if Sports Direct sales will go up in Newcastle because of the adverts. As for moving money, Ashley will get paid as a Director and will get a dividend as a Share Holder so he'll not be directly moving money from one to the other. If he was taking a wage from us then nobody could stop him putting that money into Sports Direct if that's what he wanted to do with it.

Where does Ashley make his money that he puts into the club? Indirectly if he gains then we gain, he'll not have a lot of cash sitting in his current account. If he has any sense then he will have his money working for him and it will not be easy to get at.

I'm guessing that it will bring in nothing directly, to date though we've had around £20 million a season from Ashley which he gets from the company which he has the major shareholding in so we're getting money indirectly. Even if he eventually gets his money back he's saved the club £millions in interest payments.
