I only heard the first few minutes of The Legends tonight but Macdonald said that he couldn't understand why the club had allowed LuaLua to leave and also said that he looked the most likely of the team who played against Accrington to make it in the first team. Macdonald and his caller were discussing how they thought that LuaLua might be benefitting from being coached by Beardsley.
  2. We needed something extra to keep on top of games and we seemed unable to make the most of it when we were leading. I would guess that our most regular scoreline was 1-1.
  3. Sunderland weren't playing in the UEFA, I don't see anything similar in our situation to that of the mackems.
  4. We weren't as fluent going forwards but we were more solid at the back. We were let down by a poor start, just like we were when we finished 3rd and 4th. I have no reason why we seemed to be slow starters but that let us down badly, the season we finished 5th wasn't helped by our end of season either when we didn't pick up enough points. Our last 7 games brought us 7 points and that might have been due to our UEFA Cup run catching up with us.
  5. You may see a decline, I saw an adjustment to the way we were playing which didn't quite work. Likke I said earlier, everything is relative and we finished 5th and had something to work with.
  6. It was exactly 8 and it was less than the previous 2 seasons when we finished higher. 8 defeats is the best we've had in the Premiership and it equalled the two seasons we finished 2nd, it wasn't all doom and gloom.
  7. Give over man, would you moan if we won the league with 80 points because it would be better if we had 85 points? The season is relative and relative to every other team in the Premiership, we were the 5th best (ouch).
  8. How many defeats did we have that season? The team needed tweaking and we would have been doing a lot better than we've done since he was sacked. We also had a very good cup run in the UEFA but still had a better season than we've had ever since.

    The England Thread

England didn't suffer when Bobby announced that he was leaving, I think it depends on the manager being able to retain the players respect.

    The England Thread

It's just been on Sky News, they also claim it's confirmed by him.

Agreed, he'd be one hell of a player.

His weigth loss would be in multiples of 1/4 lbs.

No point, he'd just throw up.
  14. He'll be gone by Christmas. At least I thought that until a couple of months ago but he's growing on me as a manager. He's quietly settled into the job and I no longer think he's a weakness.

I'd drop Nolan without batting an eye lid. I'm not looking forwards to seeing Barton, Routledge and Jonas playing perfectly weighted balls into space only to have to watch Nolan struggling with lead weights tied to his feet on Saturday. I will add that I feel sorry for Nolan because he's got everything going for him other than pace and probably stamina.
  16. I'm sure Anderson scored and I think it was Waddle who went in goal.
  17. Keegan coming here was brilliant and it was during a time when I was already been going to all games home and away for a number of years. The interest in the club went through the roof once he'd signed. I was lucky enough to talk to him when he played for us and he was so easy to get on with, it was like talking to a long lost friend.

You'll have to be a bit more specific in this thread.
  20. I didn't see any during the game but it was like Afghanistan before and after. The soft bastards were quite happy throwing bricks from a distance, they weren't as happy when some of our fans got behind them and everything kicked off.
  21. I remember it for some of the wrong reasons. The Leeds fans pelted bricks at us as soon as we got off the bus and a mate was arrested and locked up for picking one up and throwing it back.
  22. Probably. Our first away game of that season was at Leeds when John Anderson got the winner, our second away game was at Boro and both Keegan and Mills scored for the first time together in a game. They did that once again later in the season, I think that time was against Fulham.
