I could have sworn that Keegan got to see Modric and even he couldn't talk him into coming here, why blame it on the three mentioned while leaving Keegan out of it? I can't remember how the Vianna deal was handled but I'm sure you're right and it was done on the quiet, the Woodgate transfer was in the papers before we signed him. Doing transfers on the quiet isn't a new thing at the club and nobody is trying to say that it is, just that at the minute we're doing it that way and we're right.

I don't think too many, if any are happy with our midfield. Personally I would like to see us bring in a quality replacement for Butt and I would like to see us bring in a midfielder who can split defences with one pass that can put us through on goal.

Emre wasn't or (at this time) isn't our best midfielder, he's done nothing to be given that tag. N'Zogbia, Geremi and Milner have all done a better job for us than he has. Emre has been little more than an enigma since signing for the club.

I get pissed off when the clocks stop on 45 and 90 minutes even when injury time has been announced. The clocks should run until the ref' blows his whistle to end the half.

It is a shame and shows what can go wrong when potential deals are made public, all the more reason to keep them quiet.

I've rarely seen anything from Emre to give him the tag "best midfielder" other than past reputation; he's been a terrible signing for us.

We'll not know if the transfer dealings and player quality are related until we've completed our transfer business. I doubt that we're now finished with our transfer dealing but we know nothing about anything else happening.

How does a thread about the press knowing nothing about our transfer business bring out the whingers?

The loss of Emre will have no negative effect on the team, he's either injured or ineffective so getting rid of him is a plus as far as I'm concerned.

I've just read the last 6 pages in this thread and thought I slept for 5 weeks, the transfer window had closed and we'd only brought in 2 players. I checked the date on the PC and it was showing as 11th July 2008. I checked the date on my watch and it confirmed that it was still just a third of the way through July and the transfer window was still open. Panic over.

You were impressed when we signed Smith who was probably our worst signing.
