There's clearly a message he wants to get to someone. It could be the Ashworth/Mitchell thing, the PSR debacle/selling Anderson or AS/MG leaving. Clearly something has bothered him. Also, every time he says that he was unaware of the England speculation, he's lying through his teeth. He has a media officer for a start and as if he didn't know about the speculation around him anyway. The only thing that matters is that whatever the issue is, it's put to bed quickly.

Without reading comments in here: It was a clear power play from Eddie. Just like when a player has another club interested, they get a new contract. Eddie is using this moment to stamp his authority. I suspect in the next interview, we will get a much more clear message from him, love the club, happy etc. Today was deliberate.
