The only thing I can think is that by overpaying, they are getting deals done quicker and is effectively knocking any would be suitors out of the water. For example, if we were interested in Kudus, we'd quickly move on if we thought a Saudi club was bidding that amount.

I was canny happy with how much we spent in our last summer before a CL campaign. We signed Tonali and Barnes who were meant to be first teamers, as well as Tino and Hall for the future. Something like that but CB, RW, GK, CM would be cool.
