  1. Looks as though they are going all in on Harrison for now. Be interesting to see what our next bid is. What was our last bid 17-22m? And they want 35? I think we have almost certainly unsettled the player at this point. We just need Leeds to come to the table. If we settle somewhere between 25 and 30m, I think it will be a fair compromise. These days figures are still batshit mind and I struggle to get my head around what is and isn't a big fee. We paid 25m for Chris Wood, so it would reasonable to assume we would pay the same for a first choice winger.
  2. Yeah I just watched half an hour of Greame Bailey saying we are interested in everyone, which basically told me that he hasn't a clue who we are really interested in. One thing he did say which I thought was an excellent point; there are more match days in the summer window this year, because of the world cup, allowing for more chance of players getting itchy feet when they aren't starting games etc. It will be interesting to see if someone becomes available after the league starts. Also he seemed adamant that DCL is our top striker target.
  3. Looks like just getting attention to be honest.
  4. On Cornet.... the smart bet would be a move to Forest rather than Everton right? Unless he gambles that they sack Lampard.
  5. I'm actually going to the Bilbao game but does anyone know if our games against Benfica, Atlantic and Bilbao will be viewable on TV or online or whatever?
  6. At home, it's not about them and never should be. They are hardly better than Saka, Martinelli, Odegard etc. Get the atmosphere up, get the tempo up and let's smash them.
  7. In fairness, just watching a decent player playing for a promoted club adds intrigue. I'm all for it.
  8. 5 players from my under 10s team where there and feature on the video they put up. My lads gutted that he goes to a different school. It's chalk and cheese from the Bruce days.
  9. We also don't have the luxury of a 10/20m transfer boost from outgoings. MA made sure that we'd spend the first summer trying to let go of the dead wood. I'm surprised we haven't looked to move on Lascelles or Miggy (who I consider our only likely saleable assests), in order to replenish our budget. On the other hand, losing our 4th choice centre half and 3rd choice wide player creates a new problem. Next summer will be a different matter. Along with our new commercial power, we will have several players who might be available for the right price ;Schar, Fraser, Krafth, Longstaff, Willock, Murphy, Almiron, Wood, Dubravka and maybe even ASM, will all be potential outgoings.
  10. Horses for courses. That's why the big six seem to get an easy ride in the transfer market. Basically when they want a player, the chances are the player wants to the move. What chance did Leeds have in fending off Man City for Phillips? Zero, therefore agreeing a fee becomes much easier. We could improve our squad today, but at what cost in the long term? Everton tried that and so did Villa's previous incarnation. We don't need to be stuck with half a dozen players who we signed for the short term like Wood, who all take up big wages and would be tough to get off the books.
  11. Yeah it's crackers. I'd be shit scared of wasting millions on shite players. You have to be a proper hard nose to be DoF.
  12. I also think by showing an interest early doors and then walking away, we are allowing the situation to mature. Clubs sometimes come to terms with the idea of losing players and players are given a chance to put pressure on their clubs for a move. There is a reason we are playing this game now and not in 5 weeks. In 5 weeks when we are nearing crunch time we will ramp up our bids. We put 3 or 4 bids in for Carlos and Botman before signing Burn. Don't be surprised if we don't take a Cornet etc in the last week, to make sure we have someone through the door. It's better to do it this way around than to going straight to plan C.
  13. Lads we are in for a good season, even with this squad. We are leaner, meaner, more organised, better motivated, the full works. Eddie Howe has taught me that signings aren't everything, he turned Joelinton into Paddy V. A couple of signings will happen and we will be good to go.
  14. Finally a bit of honesty and sense. I suspect we all feel like this.
  15. You see, this is where I lose the plot. 12 months ago almost everyone said they would happily get relegated to see the back of Ashley. 8 months ago almost everyone said that they were happy to just have owners who cared about the club and wanted to move in the right direction. Now we seem to have moved into "well we NEED x player for next season", why do we NEED a RW? Why do we NEED a ST? Why do we NEED a CM? Do we really NEED it or are just people just saying what they WANT and what they have set their hearts on? I suppose it comes entirely down to expectations. In that respect if we want to finish 7th then we almost certainly do NEED those 3 positions. I must have missed the memo that dictated what our ambitions are. I worry that if we don't sign those players and don't finish 7th, I will be on here in 12 months time seeing the same individuals questioning our new owners. If that happens... I'm out.
  16. Bed wetting in full swing. It really is embarrassing. I will now be avoiding this thread until something concrete appears on the horizon.
  17. Not sure stupid is abusive but point taken.
  18. Well done, you've certainly gone to knew depths of stupid in this post. You've managed to compare our current set up with the previous regime, despite us paying nearly 150m in 2022 and then also asked why the richest club in the world isn't spending money quick enough. Go away, have a little think, then come back with a better effort.
  19. Just had a quick scan on their reactions of an 18m bid on Twitter (not the greatest source) and general feeling from Leeds fans was "double it". Hardly suggestive of a fanbase who don't rate a player.
  20. I haven't looked but I suspect some optimism is based on the fact they have spent 30m on a left sided player this window.
  21. Fair enough. You would also have to admit that we no longer are the cowboy outfit of previous, where we effectively let one man choose our transfer strategy. There has be a general trust that a collective of Nickson, Howe, Ashworth and the owners, should be enough to get more decisions right than wrong. On Harrison, worst case scenario is that we end up with a grafter who adds much needed competition to our attacking play.
  22. It's a natural reaction when we have been linked with Diaby. What's positive is that the club don't merely down tools and accept not signing x player for x position. They seem to move on to a solid player who can bridge the gap. Botman, we turned to Burn Digne etc, we turned to Targett on loan Renan Lodi, Targett on a permanent I'm sure signing Wood was a reaction to not getting their top targets in January too.
  23. He said he backs Eddie's judgement. Not only is that sensible but it's smart. I'm not quite sure why we are inventing scenarios to bash our manager either. To get this back on track; I've said that I don't know a great deal on Harrison other than he's a very decent PL wide player and that it would hardly be the most inspiring signing. However if Ashworth, Howe and Nickson think he is a good signing, that suggests they see something in him. Although I'm quite happy to hear other opinions, of which I'm sure are highly qualified?
