Is Mike Ashley steering Newcastle United in the right direction?
STM replied to LooneyToonArmy's topic in Football
If we get promoted, it will be in spite of Mike Ashley. -
Newcastle v Notts Forest - 19:45 Monday 29/03/10 Pre-match thread.
STM replied to The Prophet's topic in Football
We don't need to win this game because a draw is no use to Forest. However, if we have any balls we will go for the coup de gras and finish any chance of them catching us. If Lovenkrands makes it we will win comfortably. -
Taylor is no worse that Cahill or Shawcross IMO, other factors have halted his progress on the national stage.
-
Or if we have any sense he will remain on loan to Norwich in the championship, seems the most senisble solution.

I don't suppose that decision was made by Hughton at all, but it's the right one. What makes you think Hughton didn't make that decision? You can't be suggesting that Lambias has any brains to think this up, considering all the evidence. If there's one thing Llambias & Ashley seem good at it's saying nowt. Hughton will have been told how this is going to be dealt with, no doubt about it. They have terrible P.R skills though, that's why it would suprise me. Either way i prefer this way of doing things.

He also slid Carroll in for the other main goalscoring chance last night. He loves the outside of his right boot.
-
I like the fact he's banned everyone from speaking about it. That means everything in the media is "speculation", even if most of it is probably correct. In my eyes this is a chance for Chris to show his management skills, so far he's got this spot on.
-
There's me coming on to tell you about this rumour doing the rounds, 9 pages fucking late. Aye Carroll deserves a kick up the arse. Drop him and play Ranger.
-
It's only since he's started playing Guthrie/Nolan together on a regular basis that's we've taken off the shackles of long ball and the introduction of Routledge. It will help us next season.
-
I was going to say, "didn't you have pancrate in your line up in the other thread". However, i notice you have changed your mind I agree with your assessment.

Of all the critisisms of Butt, i've never been uncertain of his proffessionalism (even after the semi final), he's clearly massively respected by management and players... even if he has been shit for years. Personally i would love to see him part of the backroom staff, even though i'm unsure of his coaching capabilities. I'd like to think Newcastle was a club that would be prepared to give young coaches a chance.

No chance of Barton starting but it's great to have our best centre midfielder back.

Well, let's not jump to bury this one when he doesn't immediately set the Premiership alight then. One of the most insane things I've experienced as a Newcastle supporter was seeing how much Milner was hated. It wasn't even a case of him giving up on him too early when he was struggling, he was actually one of our best players for 2 years running and had an excellent attitude, but some people seemed to despise him because he "had no pace" (the most overused and often incorrect indictment against a player ever by the way) and "couldn't cross." Now I'm not trying to imply that the fans drove him out of the club or anything, I'm fully aware of who initiated that transfer... But still, it's always just struck me as incomprehensible. In all fairness, there were alot of games where Milner looked very slow down the flanks and couldn't cross for toffee. I agree that he was "given up on" though, considering the form of the club as a whole.

Was going to post something similar.

He's one of the last i would trust. Impressed with Nolan again, no doubt. I was wondering when you would show up! In all seriousness i think you are generally a good poster mate. At least you clearly give a shit. Hows Beckford, oops i'm mean Cole
-
He's also Perhaps Xisco would return if he arrived In all seriousness he's a talented lad who for the right price (free) would undoubtably add something to our squad. I always give the player the benift of the doubt in these situations, perhaps a change in club will do him good.

I'm sorry, i fail to see any plausible reason why you would miss a home game. Has someone died? because if they have i'm sure the funeral could be re-arranged.

Plenty of "supafans" on this forum who are arrogant enough to believe they are correct over every subject. There are even some whom i suspect make up an identity for themselves and pretend to go to games. Personally, i do think you get a better view of things at the game, in fact i'm sure you do. However, all of this means nothing if the person at the game is an egotistical moron, who fails to listen to other peoples views and stand points. I mean how many times have you heard the guy behind you at the match talking absolute jiberish? It happens in almost every home game i go to and these people have probably been attending games for years. You don't have to have a season ticket to know a great deal about football or the club it's self. The judgement of someone's footballing knowledge should be defined by what they say and the comments they make, regardless of their attendance. There are some people on this forum who are a joy to listen to, even if i don't agree with them. There are others who will argue for the sake of it.... even if they probably don't actually believe themselves. That's football.

Kevin Doyle would be great foil for Andy Carroll next season. Grafts for the full 90 and rarely gives the ball away, tore Aston Villa (who have the best defence in the league i think) apart at times yesterday. The sort of player who bring our midfield players like Routledge and Jonas into the game from more advanced positions, instead of having to run at the opposition from the half way line all the time. He's also a very good header of the ball which would add to our, already good, aerial threat.
-
Williamson travelled with the squad yesterday, so you would expect he will return. If not let young Tamas have a game. Harper Simpson Williamson Colo Enrique Guthrie Nolan Routledge Jonas Lovenkrands Carroll If Loven is out then i'd replace him with a striker
-
Harper- 5 At fault for the goal Simpson- 6 I thought he looked quite good, improving Coloccini- 6 Never really took care of Haynes, pace upset him Hall- 6 Did ok until he went off Enrique- 7 Dominated Routledge- 7 Took the game to Bristol Guthrie- 7 Kept the second half ticking after a sloppy first Nolan- 5 Way off the pace of the second half, should have scored Jonas- 8 MOM Horrible first half, untouchable second Best- 5 Improved in the second but was still shite Carroll- 7 Getting better and better, no9 next year I don't think we deserved to be 2-0 behind, we should have won on the basis of the 90mins.

Come on, what does Buffon know about football? Surely a few negative football forum posters know better?

I really hope Best can get himself a goal. I don't rate him at all mind.
