  1. Ideally i'd hardly get rid of anyone. However, realistically will need to reduce the wage bill and probably raise funds. Until i saw the transfer budget i would get rid of; Best, Butt, Shola, Pancrate and Taylor. Two of which, are out of contract anyway. If i believed i could replace them with better players and get decent fees i would sell; Smith, Nolan and Barton. We can't afford to have a small squad next year.

    Players in public

Coloccini in the metro centre. It took my girlfriend to point him out... how the fuck do you miss Coloccini's hair?
  3. Yes, I'm an outsider so that 'limits' my view but... 1) Selling half of your best players - I got the impression it was imperative the wage bill was reduced? Regardless, why would Owen, Martins and Viduka etc stay in the Championship? Obsolete point surely. 2) How did he get you relegated? 3) The impression I get is he gets a lot of criticism and most is justified. But if we're looking at it from the other point of view, shouldn't he be open to praise for good things, i.e. the debt he's wiped. He sold half our best players before we got relegated. N'Zogbia, Milner, Given etc. His decision making got us relegated. There's no proof he has wiped the debt
  4. So in summary Ashley has; Got us relegated Isolated our two biggest hero's Sold half of our best players Lied to the fans Appointed one of the most despised men in football as director of football Appointed one of the worst managers in football as our manager Invested very little in the playing staff Tried and failed to sell the club on two occasions thus ruining two seasons of football and there are STILL some people who want to defend him.
  5. Isn't she from Liverpool? Exactly... she won't want to move north
  6. It's a common myth that Ashley was going to sell the club for 100m. This price didn't include the extra 80m the club owed to him. Since then he's taken plenty of lump sums to pay himself back some of the 80m; Given 6m Milner 14m Duff 3m N'Zogbia 6m Martins 6-8m How much of these fees have gone back into transfers?
  7. O'Hara has more movement than Guthrie but is probably a slightly worse passer from what i've seen. That's only because i think Guthrie is a brilliant passer mind. My only concern is that we won't be able to convince his slutbag to move north.
  8. We wouldn't compare Neville to Rio Ferdinand, so why are we comparing Beckham to the rest? Beckham is the best right midfielder we have had in a long time but Scholes is the best centre english midfielder since Gazza.
  9. O'Hara is a diamond waiting to be polished. One would suspect he's already Portsmouth's player of the season (Boateng's been good too), and this is his first full season in the premiership. He's also capable of playing on the left of midfield IIRC. IMO he would be a smart move and a realistic one. I like the fact he is young and has tasted a relegation battle.
  10. The key thing is that the long ball tactic then has to progress into something more attractive to watch once we're established in the league. Bolton have been playing long ball, defensive football for years, the fans grow tired of it eventually. Agree with what you say. Everton are a great example to follow IMO. They have been playing functional football for a few seasons while they built up the quality of their squad within a realistic sustainable budget but are now not only capable of giving the better teams a bloody nose but are playing some very decent footbaqll as well. The point is they built a solid base first and have added quality over time. We can worry about playing pretty football once we are in the top 8, until then points must come first next season. This. Although the SUPA fans will tell you that you are being optimistic. Being negative makes you more hardcore, didn't you know?
  11. He's right though, Ashley has lowered expectations. Regardless of whether relegation came our way or not.
  12. Carroll will be attracting alot of interest from other clubs. Less, now that it looks like we are going up though. He potentially top quality. He could do with a top coach, who can teach him how to use his aerial threat to benefit the team in more ways than goals. In this league he's scoring, but if he doesn't score in the prem the walls will fall down on his Newcastle career. I'd like to see him flick the ball on better and be a more composed target man, who can bring other into play, both of which can be coached. He is the type of player that other clubs would get the most out of, we need to start doing the same.

    Danny Guthrie

I'm interested to see how far Guthrie can go. I'd like to see him play alongside a top quality midfielder.

    Jonas Gutierrez

Against Man Utd aye? He was good in that game to be fair, still won't change my opinion though. Negative tactics don't help like.
  15. I think Smith could be gone, if we get a decent offer. Firstly, he will be on higher wages than Nolan and secondly he's looking a bit surplus at the moment. I also think other clubs will come in for Smith (on reputation alone).

    Jonas Gutierrez

Jonas is a home player. Don't think i've seen him have a good game away yet, he's been ok away but not great. At home on the other hand...
  17. For the record, i don't believe this is a good place to get the "general" opinion of newcastle fans. It is however a good place to get the two extremes. My attitude to this place, is to take the two extremes and find the middle ground.
  18. I see the disgrace scored yesterday.
  19. Do you not think that he might lack consistency because he's not getting games? He should have been playing on our right before we brought Routledge in and he should be playing now that Routledge is injured. I'd like to have seen him playing in a winning side but it's risky with youngsters. I'd still like to see him signed on a long term deal and loaned out to a good chamionship side next year. Then we will see what he is made of.
  20. The only other option i see is someone like Spurs or Everton offering him a pay as you play deal, other than that, his career is over.

    Habib Beye

I think Hughton is a good judge of character, therefore if we do resign him i would be delighted. If the club has any problem with his personality then i don't want him back. Ideally we could get him on a one year contract, without much of a fee to pay but i suspect there will be a good youngster somewhere who won't cost as much. I'd prefer a right sided Van Aanholt who could push Simpson TBH.
  22. Up until this season Mike Ashley had made plenty of decisons, 95% of the were terrible. This season he has made very few decisions, most have them have been decent. Keegan famously said "I spoke to Mike Ashley and he said he wanted to win something", well Mike you are on the verge of winning something but it represents how far you have ruined our club. The question is; should we get back into the Premiership will he have learned his lesson on Premiership decision making? My guess is probably not.
  23. Hard to disagee with that. 1999-2003 Was his pomp IMO. On the other hand, he's probably been the most consistant throughout his career. i.e he's never really had a poor patch, his goals may have dried up but that's expected. Lampard was great from about 24/25, Beckham has been average since his legs went. Gerrards been pretty great throughout his career too though.
