  1. Clutching at straws a touch but getting rid of Geremi today can't hurt our chances of signing someone on the last day of the window. That's about 200k a month the club saves, so almost a million by the time his contract would have run out.
  2. I'm sure Ashley will be quaking in his boots at that damn insightful report!
  3. Apparently so, by the way my mate talks shite but it was random that he would tell me. 500k Apparently.
  4. Heard from my mate (doncaster fan), who says we are signing Sam Hird.
  5. Terry is a class defender, it's England who have been shit over the years. Terry being shit is just one of those urban myths. If he is an average defender, then he's conned some of the best managers in the world.
  6. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful we're on our way back up but I can't agree that this season has been remarkable or much of an achievement to be honest. We're only top of the league because it's a shite league and our position is more about our opponents than us. Isn't it remarkable that our current set of players have managed it though? Not really when you compare them to their peers in this league. How many players in this league have; - Played for England (Smith, Butt) - Played in Champions League ties and finals (Smith, Butt, Colo, Lovenkrands) - Still represent their country at top level (Colo, Jonas) - Represent their country at more junior levels (Ranger, Kadar, Krul etc) - Have loads of top level experience (Shola, Barton, Nolan, Smith etc) The only surprising element this season is that the team pulled their fingers out and made some effort, which if they had of done last year, we wouldn't even be here (Hang your heads Messr's Owen, Beye, Martins, Barton etc). There is enough proven quality and experience across our squad to make them favourites to go up (even if they don't all play well at the same time), to scare the opposition into respecting us too much and to outplay lesser knowns in this league. Barely any of them are of premiership quality though which makes me rather pessimistic. Is it remarkable to be at the top with such shit? I think so, regardless of the awards of the likes of Butt. How he played in the champions league, i will never know.
  7. Jonas wasn't fit enough but playing Nicky Butt is criminal.
  8. I don't want him to step down, i want him to buy some decent pacey creative players in midfield. Although i do subscrivbe to the fact that he will probably be gone by christmas.
  9. Hopefully that's just because he hasn't been playing first team football all season. Which is a good point actually, the way he has settled into a new club, put in a couple of good performances and even looks to guide the back line has been very impressive considering he hasn't played all season! Yep, that's basically why I've been so impressed, played like he's been playing alongside Colo all season, seemed very settled with him. Hoping that with games will come a bit more pace, because it was a thing I noticed he lacked a bit at Leicester. I must admit i like the fact he was telling the back four what to do at such an early stage. He may be a candidate for captain in the future.
  10. Capello can't afford to strip him of the captaincy and boot him out the team. Like it or not he's a key part of the England set up. However, if Terry were to give up the England captaincy, it would sort alot of this mess out.

  12. By the way, don't be naive enough to think that Hughton doesn't know exactly what he is doing by playing this boring (solid) formation and style. He's playing to our strengths because he probably knows we don't have enough on the front foot. I suspect if we got promoted he would invest in new midfielders (he'd have to ).
  13. Completely agree, i believe we have lost some perspective and was going to make a similar post. Although TBF it's par for he course around here. Most of the fans that frequent this forum are passionatley in love with NUFC and it's only through this which you get the instant reactions from them after a poor performance. Most people realise it's been a fairly remarkable season but are just a bit frustrated by the style of football. Should we win promotion people will realise what an achievement it has been and the optimism will return for the future, even if it's just for a short while.

He didn't keep it yesterday, he was constantly harried out of possession even against ten men. Don't know which game you were watching...probably the same one as Johnny who thinks Pancrate coming on as sub was our biggest problem. He did have a bad game yesterday. What does that prove? the point is it wasn't a one off. I must have missed all his other poor performances, despite seeing all of our games and reading all the reviews. It's more likely that there is knee-jerking going on but i'm sure that will be denied. Guthrie is a good young player, one that is being wasted time after time.
  15. Yep, be involved in a nasty relegation battle at a club that likely have 4 months left in the Premiership and will then disapear without a trace. Or be involved in a promotion push where he can establish himself and continue to improve followed by a full season in the Premiership at a much bigger club, I agree its a no brainer. You are not promoted yet, you may not be this season, I understand its a hard adjustment to make, you are a big club with fantastic support, but at the moment you are not competing with Wigan, they are a class above you! They are a league above actually but hopefully only for the next four months.

If he was in the WBA side, he'd be in the centre of midfield and happy. That's what i'm implying.
  18. I thought he was good but wasn't convinced about his pace, time will tell.

    Agree completely.

Guthrie "weak in possession". He's one of our only players who can keep the ball FFS. He's been pretty good for us this season, in spite of the fact he's been played out of position in almost every meaningful game. If he was in WBA current side, we'd all be talking about what a good player he is.
  21. Looked decent going forward. Its hard to really enthuse about him, knowing he's only here as a short term stopgap. Nothing to say we won't try and sign him in the future though. Not quite sure whether he will be part of their plans either.
  22. Thank god the footballing world doesn't run by your "footballing for dummies" then.
  23. Aye we should sack Hughton and hire Pearson.
  24. We can get loans in after monday, moron. Well that's ok then. Who gives a shit that we've dropped points again. We'd all prefer to sign 6 new players on the first day on the window but that's not realistic. There's a whole list of strikers who Hughton has missed out on through no fault of his own. So perhaps you will give him the next couple of weeks to rectify the situation.
