  1. Bollocks, complete over haul has never worked. In your opinion Barton is mediocre. For me he's in good form and can get better and better with the right coaching. Do seriously believe we can go out and sign ferdinand and vidic standard for next season? If not that standard what? I suppose you believe someone like Melberg is better than Faye? Us conceeding goals has been down to the midfield not the personnel in defence. us conceeding goals is down to our centrebacks being useless Are Bramble and O'Brien better than Faye and Taylor? If you answer yes you want shot. We performed all right with those two here behind a class midfield.

Us conceeding goals has been down to the midfield not the personnel in defence. Complete overhaul worked for Spurs under Jol, and City under Sven. It only doesn't work if you do it badly. Barton has had a couple of good games, he still has below par talent for me and is a mere grafter. I don't think we can go out and sign Vidic and Ferdinand, i just said that Carrick is unrealistic ffs. And yes Mellberg is better than Faye, he would be a good signing if he wasn't going to Juventus. And i know the midfield is largely to blame for our poor defence, i've said it all season, this is partly why Barton shouldn't be a first teamer. All season he has been losing the ball in the middle of the pitch, been getting caught in possession, and passing to the opposition. Faye is a decent player, but he is clumsy ast times and his positioning isn't great. Citeh have largley used players they had previous to Sven arriving, even those signings who were playing well have dipped in form massively. I can't remember Spurs having a huge turnover in players, in their first team, alot of midfielders IIRC. Like i say i think Barton is far more than a grafter but we will have to disagree. When i said Vidic and Ferdinand i was reffering to the Faye subject and who we could realistically replace him with. Personally i believe he needs a partner alongside who is of a simiar standard but with a better brain. I don't think Mellberg is any better but has been playing in a far more compact Villa side, Faye would have done the same. As for Carrick, i agree he is a touch unrealistic but so were Owen, Luque, Duff and Martins until they walked through the door.
  3. Not to different to the side i suggested, i recommendated Dunne in another thread. Mind you i don't think SWP and Zoggy would have enough bite, plenty of pace mind.

  5. IMO 3 in midfield works like this; DM- Someone who sweeps us the play, wins possesion and provides for others to attack i.e Carrick, Makelele, Hargreaves CM- Box to Box player someone with energy and drive who commits to both attack and defence i.e Essien or Barton in our case AM- Someone whos main priority is the assist the attacking players, for me Kranjcar (sp) would be ideal, as you say great passer and great vision, pace not vital.
  6. No clear out needed. Harper Beye Faye Ben Haim Enrique Carrick Kranjcar Barton Martins Viduka Owen Ben Haim 7m Carrick 14m Kranjcar 8m
  7. Completely unintended but i'll take it........
  8. Didn't Valencia spend something like £12m on him? Maybe a bit too expensive for someone like him I think, but then again I haven't seen him on that many occasions. Aye but they cant be overly impressed if they have sent him out on loan. I honestly don't know how good he is but would suggest we could get him for 6-7m.
  9. I think SWP is very realistic given his relationship with Keegan. and the fact he's a bit part player at Chelsea. Think it would do him the world of good to play for us.
  10. Two of my mates were stewards at Citeh and the both thought that Barton was class last season, dominated games, assisting and goalscoring. I've been down their a couple of times to see them against us and he ran us off the park in both games. The performances of the past 2-3 games have me more like that but i can't help feel there is still alot more to come from him. We should do everything we can to help him to become a top player for us. Because of his erratic behaviour the juries still out on whether he will deliver, fingers crossed.
  11. Depends on how we intend to play. Bentley is class and would be a great signing but he's a right winger, so wouldn't fit into a 433 system. Shaun Wright Phillips would be more likely and a cracking addition.
  12. I thought Owen had past it but he's changed my mind. I don't think he will ever be the same type of player again but he can still be the goalscorer, which is great news for the club. If fit for a whole season he would get us 20 goals, no doubt doubt in my mind, along with Martins getting 15 we'd finish in the top half. My main issue is that i worry Owen will get injured again very soon, there's always one around the corner. Therefore in the summer i'd be looking for an Eidur Gudjohnsen esq player to add to the squad in case of an absence to any of the front three (assuming KK intends to play that way).
  13. One thing i must say is that Keegan's the PERFECT manager to keep these players focused and keep the momentum going. The way Viduka, Owen and Martins are playing at the moment we will struggle not to score if we give it 100%.
  14. If we create as many chances against these lot as we did against Blackburn, Brum, Fulham and Spurs then we should win comfortably. My only worry is that Reading are the type of side who like to dig in against teams and scrap for a result but they are not a great goal scoring side. I'll go for Emre from the bench to find the net or Owen's head. 1-0
  15. We can't really say whether the performances are in any way related to Hughton arriving. Would be nice to think he's influencing our ability to pass and move though.
  16. Needed; Harper Beye Faye CB Enrique DM Barton AM Martins Viduka Owen My (semi- realistic) recommendations; CB- Dunne, Pique, Ben Haim DM- Carrick, Diaby AM, Deco, Diego, VDV

    Abdoulaye Faye

Bring Ben Haim in to partner him and let Taylor be first choice back up.
  18. Keegan has impressed me massively. Bringing Beye, Enrique and Faye into the side. Consistant starting line up's (On the whole). Sticking with Barton Dropping Duff and Smith Getting Owen scoring and playing a different style Getting the strikers playing in tandum Have all been brilliant decisions. We over do losses so often in this place it's about time we were allowed to over react to a win.
  19. Last time was against Spurs 4-0 under Bobby, Robert scored two amazing goals.

    Reyes a Target

Because, although talented, he is a bit of a lazy tart, i can't see him being a success on the wing in a 442, he would have to track back and make tackles. Robert did well so it is possible i suppose, but then he could be a bit like Luque and just not fit in anywhere. I dont think he was ever "lazy" at Arsenal but he was certainly no workhorse either. Robert and Ginola prior were similar styles, at least Reyes has had premiership experiance.

    Reyes a Target

N'Zogbia will be gone and Duff has no where near convinced me he's capable of being a top player again. Who knows why Reyes left Arsenal, could be any number of reasons. From what i saw of him when he was at Arsenal he would be a great addition, Pace, Goalscoring, Crossing and keeps a hold of the ball. The only worry for me would be that he's slightly injury prone and lightweight. It would also be a good move for Enrique having a fellow spaniard on the left side. 5m would be a snip for a 26 year old? Don't for a second believe the story like.

    Oba...Obafem

No no, they are cult hero's like Tino, Albert, Nobby etc. Legends are Shearer, Milburn etc.

Of course their fans are closer to the football. It's because they dont have as many people in suits wanting to watch their football because it's shit. If german football was at our standards then they would have the same problems with atmospheres.
  24. TBH i think Taylor and Cacapa are both good defenders. They just have looked shit in a shite team.
  25. I like N'Zogbia BUT if he wants to leave he can as far as i'm concerned. He's going to be a good player somewhere but his attitude seems to stink and there's plenty more fish in the sea. If we can recoup 8/9m and sell him to a FOREIGN club then i think it's a canny bit of buisness.
