  1. I think you need to open your mind a little more. Enrique is as/more effective than Beye in the attacking sense but not going forward. By that i mean for everytime Beye beats their left back Enrique plays a neat little pass into the feet of Viduka or over the top for Martins. This contributes as much to an attack as Beye bombing down the right. Don't get me wrong i'd like to see Enrique get himself into similar positions but it's not the be all and end all to our football.
  2. I like the idea of Owen having a permenant "Bergkamp" role. What people often forget about Owen is that regardless of whether he's the best striker we have, he's also the best footballer we have. When he collects the ball in a deeper position he rarely gives it away and more often than not starts an attack. What is also good about this position is that it allows him run for deep and arrive late into the box, which suits "the goalscorer" in Owen. With Owen in this position, we can leave the debate about whether he's the same goalscorer for another day. What you can be assured of is that playing in this position he would chip in 10/15 goals a season anway.
  3. Harper Beye Faye Taylor Enrique Butt Geremi Barton Owen Viduka Martins I fancy us to go on a little bit of a run, even though Spurs will be expected to wallop us. I had similar thoughts about the same fixture last year. I also think our formation will suit playing Spurs, although winning is a tough ask. For me, Berbatov and Keane are nailed on to score. So i'll say 2-2 with Owen and Viduka for us.
  4. Apart from first half against Liverpool and second half against Man U, i think he's been solid everytime i've seen him play. I too saw him against Everton and i though he was one of our best players on the pitch. I sometimes think it's easier for people to think he some sort of crap spanish mercinary
  5. We won't finish in the top half best we can hope for is 12th because i don't quite we will catch spurs. The main thing was always that we didn't get relegated and i'm sure we wont now. The one thing i'd like to see now is consistant form. A draw at Spurs would be brilliant.

    Today's other games

Well played referee. Although the refs are shite he made the right choice sending Mascherano off, he's let Liverpool down big time. Reina is having a nightmare too.
  7. Was a fucking belter like. Even better than that was his 60 yard wonder pass to Martins.

    Oba...Obafem

All he's saying is that if he doesn't play regularly then it will be hard for him to stay. Surely every footballer thinks like that. Thats not even taking into consideration the fact that he has started the last two games.
  9. I though fixtures were meant to be random. How come every year we seem to have a "Super sunday". Fuck all random about it.
  10. opinions are what makes football great, viduka drove me fucking mad today. if that was him playing class i'd hate to say a poor performance. good goal though. What was poor about it? Scored a good goal, held the ball up well, won a fair bit in the air. He's not a workaholic and he never will be. Viduka is what he is, talented but bone idle. He's not going to charge down the goalkeeper but he'll always score goals. That'll do me. I thought Viduka was exactly what we have been missing. Someone creative and not afraid to shoot.
  11. Harper -7 Didn't have a great deal to do. A few long rangers from Bullard were easily stopped. Beye- 6.5 Wasn't as industrious down that flank as he normally is but had a great relationship with Geremi. Taylor- 7 Solid throughout Faye- 7 Solid througout Enrique-7 Some excellent passing, getting better by the game Geremi- 8 At the heart of all of our good play. Barton- 6.5 Hit and Miss again. He was either giving the ball away or linking up quite well Butt- 9 Great performance. Dictated the game. Owen- 8 Good build up and got his goal. Viduka- 8 The key to our team at the moment. Martins- 7 Should have scored but contributed well. On the whole Fulham were piss poor but you have to beat these teams. Not only did we outplay them completely but they never look like scoring. I cant remember them having one shot on target in the second half. Happy enough with our performance but more importantly 3 points that will see us clear of relegation IMO.
  12. I've got 2-1 Martins first goal scorer at 27-1, fingers crossed.
  13. TBH i'm expecting a cracking atmosphere.
  14. the finance generated in the premiership now means that the very best players will come here as well as to the top Italian teams and Real and Barcelona. It used to be Italy where this happened albeit a long time ago, and the 2 Spanish teams. The players you list ie Torres, Vidic and Ronaldo are 3 great players, but so are Tevez, Drogba and Fabregas for instance. Of these 6 players, 2 are Spanish, 1 African, 1 Portuguese, I Argie and Vidic is ? [Czech - not sure of this it just escapes me]. Rooney is just as vital to manu as Ronaldo, as is Terry re Drogba and Gerrard re Torres to their clubs Its just a global game. I know England haven't qualified, and therefore played shite, but I think they could and should have done better. Foreigners v British players is a big debate, much bigger than this. He's a serb mate. I agree the English pool of players isn't half as bad as it's been made out. I believe you could pick about 3 first 11's that could have qualified for the euro's, shit managment is to blame (McClaren). However, i think the youth in this country is a huge problem. We have adequate youngsters compared to the likes of France and Brazil. I believe this again down to poor coaching and management at lowel levels. For me there's too much emphasis on physical (which is understand) rather that technical and mental.
  15. I'd like KK to set a target for Barton to score a certain number of goals. The guys got it in him he just seems to have lost all his confidence in his attacking play. At home against a piss poor fulham side should be perfect. That's what I was thinking. Who do Fulham play in CM alongside Bullard? Danny Murphy, both hugely attacing minded players. Which suggests that there would be space for Barton in behind to link up with Viduka

  17. Don't know why that is because he certainly produces in the champions league. I'm sure Man Utd couldn't give a fuck if he scores against everyone except the top four. Oh and just because he aint scoring, doesnt mean he isn't playing well.
  18. Keegan aint the type to chop and change after a good performance. It would seem silly to change the side around after a good display, especially with a home fixture against Fulham. It's been so long since we won i've forgotten what it feels like TBH. A win against Fulham would take the roof off and go some way into keeping us up. Team Harper Beye Taylor Faye Enrique Butt Geremi Barton Owen Viduka Martins If that doesn't work bring on the Zog and Emre.

    Man City bid for Henry.

Henry is/was great in this league and sure the thought of having a player of that class next season would be mouth watering but i'd sooner go out there an find "the next henry".
  20. On the other hand what the guy is trying to say is pretty good.

    Oba...Obafem

C'mon girls dont get touchy. Martins is a good striker atm. Not a great striker, not a crap striker. I believe he is our best striker also.

    Oba...Obafem

This is what i thought. It was vital we kept the point anyway and not do a "blackburn".

Martins best quality is that he does shoot. Regardless of whether he hits the target or not he always has at least 4 or 5 attempt on goal (which is 5 more than smith). On his bad days he couldn't hit a barn door, however, on his good days he's a match for any striker in this league. Two other qualities that go somewhat unoticed are a) his ability to head the ball, not only in hold up play but also whilst in front of goal (which created our goal last night) and b) the pressure he puts defenders under with his pace. On numerous occasions yesterday he forced a throw in or the opposition to concede possesion (like what he did to Riise the week before). In short, even when Martins isn't scoring he's a more consistant threat than any of our other players.

    Butterflies

I'm kind of thankful i have to work tonight. Means i can just have a look at teletext every now and then but i'll get it sky+ for if we win.
  25. I know what you think Dave but your wrong. Not ALL home fans are THAT quiet. I'm not disputing that SJP isn't anything like it used to be, what i am saying is that SJP is better than Anfield.
