Given Beye Faye Coloccini Enrique Butt Guthrie Jonas Milner Smith Martins Would be my guess. Needless to say, hopefully Smith won't play.

Better than some of the signings we have done in the past couple of years. Martin O'Neill picks solid premiership players and makes them work as a team. Luke Young was a good player in a shite team at Chalton, ditto Shorey at Reading. Now they will be good players in a good team.

So the jist now is that the other days anouncement was simply a verbal agreement, now we have a formal agreement. So should we expecting 12 medicals aswell? I don't doubt this transfer will go through but fucking hell.........

So you reckon Shorey is heading to Villa park, good signing if true? The good thing for Villa fans is that you have a young squad, the likes of Agbonlahor, Young etc are all improving and will be a season better. Effectively signings in theirselves. As long as your not selling your best players, you won't go backward IMO. Barry is a good player but Sidwell is a good replacement (even if he's not like for like), in fact in some respects Sidwell is better.

Don't think he will ever get back to his best. N'Zogbia's the better player.

Thing is though, is that at the expense of having two left backs at the club? I rate Enrique but i don't like the thought of N'Zogbia as back up.... for a few reasons. There is Edgar but afer that i am struggling. Unless that bassong lad can do something there, i've been away for three weeks, so missed the crack with the lad? On the other hand i fully agree about the need for them two other positions.

Sounds very much like we have someone else lined up, in addition to Coloccini. After his 2 players comment last week and then "i'm confident we will bring in at least two" comments now, sounds very much like he knows we are close on someone. My guess would be Warnock.

Would be very happy to see Benayoun here, i think it'd be a really good signing. Serious upgrade on Milner, and anything to have Duff nowhere near the team is good enough for me. Benayoun/Jonas on the wings would be a nice prospect. I was thinking more in the centre TBH, that's where we are desperate. However Benayoun is slightly lightweight for that role.

If Smith goes for 3m i will love it.

Suprised we have not look towards a player like Benayoun. Very good player on the ball.

Baptista is the sort of player we should be trying to sign and i'd say he is within our limits, however i don't think we will sign him because of Roma's interest. Hopefully we will be surveying a few options of similar calibre.

Calm down ladies, this transfer will happen. Coloccini is all but done, just waiting on confirmation which could be any time TBH. I'm hoping that we are doing other deals aswell TBH, that's just as important in my book. It would be nice to get another Coloccini calibre in soon.

Looks better, but I'd play Guthrie and Butt over Geremi. I'm one of the few that sees the qualities of Geremi in our side, however i recognise that we should not be going into next season with Geremi as our main centre midfielder. Butt for me last season was incapable of playing in a 442 system and have not seen enough of Guthrie to comment on his ability. Hopefully we will at least get one good centre midfielder in, preferabley two.
