What 5 months? Sorry for narrowing it down like. Why not pick a five months when he was doing well? Makes no sense. He doesn't make any sense full stop.

What 5 months? Sorry for narrowing it down like. He obviously became a bad manager in those 5 months. It doesn't matter that they finished 7th because they had a poor 2007 compared to 2006. Great logic.

Yeah, he proved that at Bolton didn't he? Souness won things, means jack s*** doesn't it? Sam has performed CONSISTENTLY with Bolton and in the premier league. There's a difference. What was his record in 2007? Was it good? I seem to remember Bolton finishing 7th? Yeah that's pretty good. What's his record in 2007, please tell me. I can't be bothered to look it up but from your post it's obviously not good. Point still stands though, they finished 7th and that's still good. It doesn't matter what their record was in 2007, the position they finished is what's important.

Wow, you're such a comedian, now do you mind answering my question: What is there to be gained by sacking Sam? Because he's not got it in him to turn it around, and we might as well end it now than be lead further down the wrong path. If the board were serious about keeping him they'll be bringing in some decent players to help him out instead of leaving him to lose even more support from the fans every game. How the hell do you know that? There's no evidence at all to suggest it.

What exactly is there to be gained by sacking Sam now?

No, you won't. Well, that's my opinion anyway, I thnk it is easy to overrate your squad when you're not assessing it objectively, but from what I've seen of you this season - which, admittedly isn't as much as you lot have - you've a lot of players who really aren't up to much. Even Given seems (by reading posts here) to have deteriorated, and he's been quality for donkeys. Dude ... still interested in Milner? Milner for Maloney swap deal? Not for Maloney, but we dsperately need a right sided midfielder. I reckon if you took a straw poll of our lot on "want Milner back for 5m?" a good 75 - 80 percent would say yes. One bad game and Milner is suddenly a bad player....says it all really. Milner stinks dude. Get real. You must love average. I don't. Look at his Engalnd under-21 peers, Bentley, Young and Agbonlahor! Why is Milner even in the under-21 side. STINKS! STINKS! STINKS! Really dude? no way dude!

I don't care if he gave his all, he was atrocious.
-
Agree completely. He seems to avoid criticism because he makes one "crunching" tackle every match and people think "What a good defensive midfielder, he knows when to make a challenge and not just run around a lot." He can be decent back up for us but he shouldn't start, he constantly gives the ball away and doesn't offer the back 4 enough protection.
-
What the hell is the point in sacking Sam now? We're not in a relegation battle and we're not going to be. There are no better replacements at the moment and sacking him would just take us back to square one. He's still a good manager, you don't go from being a good manager to a sh** one in a matter of months. The club is going through change from top to bottom and we need continuity at this point in time. Sam needs time to make the squad his own, he hasn't even had ONE season ffs.
-
We've just awarded him a new 1 year contract with the option of another year. Clearly looking to the future, there. Well, he's still a decent squad player to be fair. I'd just prefer it if he was back-up.

Martins worked the channels, stretched them, created room for others. Owen needs service. That's not the point, it's the result that's important. Sam got it proper' wrong playing 4-4-2, and 4-3-3 the other week. Should try a 1-1-8 we'd score loads of goalz, I mean goals... If he had been on a few mins longer he would have put away that first chance imo. Maybe so. It was the only decent ball we played up to him that I can remember. If we HAD given him another one he would have scored his strike rate says so. Joking aside we have basically been set back by two bad descisions in two big games. But that will average out as the season progresses. Generally happy tonight. Zoggy was magnificent as was Faye. Beye gave Petrov as good a game as any full back this season at a guess. Parky, you are a well respected chap on this here forum but how the f*ck you can can use such emotive words to describe to the performance of a player on the losing side (playing out of position granted) as 'magnificent'? No f*cking way can I accept that man. Also, it's a fallacy this notation of 'good/bad decisions will even themselves out over the season. B*llshit. It's exactly the same as going to the casino and putting your money on red or black......it 'should' even itself out but hey man...this is not always the case. It truly has to be over the long run and frankly 38 games is not enough time for decisions to even them selves out. 'At a guess is neither use to man or beast chap'. Not exactly nailing your opinion to the mast is it? Maybe done to provoke comment........you have succeeded chap. Even with the right players at his disposal, Allardyce continues and will continue to employ a brand of football that is archaic and quite removed from what is required in the EPL. We are s**** and we know we are....... They weren't quite magnificent but Faye, Zoggy and Beye all played really well.
-
Butt really shouldn't be starting for us, he's been consistently crap this season. He gives the ball away far too easily and just doesn't do enough.
-
Faye? He was our best player along with N'Zogbia today.
-
I would agree recently, but do you remember when he first joined us and was starting games? He was the heartbeat of the side and I'm sure he does still have the potential to do this.
-
Given Beye Cacapa Faye N'Zogbia Milner Butt Emre Duff Viduka Martins subs: Harper, Geremi, Owen, Smith, Rozehnal Nice, simple 442...won't happen though

You're f****** joking aren't you? I am struggling to name a manager who would do worse than what Fat Sam is achieving right now, with all that talent at his disposal. How about that manager you slagged everyone off on here for wanting rid of, Souness? Souness would do much better than Fat Sam if he was in charge of the current squad of players, without a shadow of a doubt. The football Souness played was infinitely better than Fat Sam's, and that's saying something. If you're claiming it isn't, you're lying. mackems.gif
-
The major point. We were f****** s*** even before Sam took over. A summer of losing all the deadwood then attempting to sign replacements, despite our poor league position was always going to be hard. We are 11th FFS, its hardly end of the world stuff. Sam will come good with time. Good to see some sense around here. We're a mid table club and no more at the moment. Sam is a very good manager and needs time to make the squad his own.
-
Could it be the players are partly to blame??? No, surely not...
-
There is no one else. Sam is the best manager available to us at the moment.
