  1. I think Taylor will be on the bench...which will be the correct decision imo as Rozehnal and Cacapa are the better players at the moment.
  2. I'd rather he picked anyone but Heskey. And I mean anyone.
  3. Apart from the strange business re Gary Speed, I have not seen anywhere to say he interfered with transfers, apart from the usual financial restrictions that all chairman have to sometimes use. And in that respect, you have to say that the club have backed their managers with plenty of money to build successful teams, fulfilling their terms of office. Basically, the managers have bought too many s**** players who have not been worth what they cost, that is the managers bad judgement and I fail to see how anyone else can be blamed. Well, for one, Souness claimed that he interfered with transfers as has Bobby. Bobby wanted Carrick but Freddy decided that he'd prefer Butt. Also, Shepherd was continually trying to flog Bowyer behind Bobby's back. These are only a couple of the publicised ones, I'm sure that there are many more instances (although of course I can't prove this).
  4. NE5 care to answer my question at the top of the page?
  5. NE5, putting aside the fact that Shepherd hired a couple of incompetent managers, he still held us back in places. Although he did a fair amount of good, in that he provided financial backing and hired a few good managers, the fact is that he tampered with transfers and decisions that only managers should make...had he not done this I believe we could have seen a much more successful Newcastle. So what I'm saying is even though we did well under Freddy (by regularly qualifying for europe) I still feel we could have done even better if he just let the manager (particularly Sir Bobby) make all the decisions he was entitled to make (such as who should be purchased and sold)
  6. I think he's signed for Ajax...there was picture of him on their site with him holding an Ajax top. Still, nothing mentioned on .co.uk though
  7. Funny that the official site has said nothing about Luque.
  8. Not bothered, he was never going to be good enough for the Premiership.
  9. Although Shola could theoretically get called up for Nigeria if he gives up on England. Nigeria don't need Ameobi. They have one of the world's best strikeforces in my opnion.

  11. Fair enough but I think we know what we're getting with Beye. There's no real element of risk and he's clearly suited to the Premier League (unlike some other foreign signings). And let's face it, even if he is worse than expected he's still going to be miles better than Carr or Ramage.
  12. Okay, it's fair enough to wait and see whether a player will perform but reputations do mean something. When you see a player coming to your club one of things you look at is their reputation as from this you can usually guage how good he is and what qualities he will bring to the team. After all, most reputations are built on performances. Beye's reputation as a tough tackling, strong full back is important because it means he has the potential to succeed in the premier league. Players like Luque also had a good reuputation, however, the difference is you could see that his qualities weren't suited the premier league...so don't try comparing them (or Marcelinho for that matter).
  13. The problem with playing Emre off the front two is that his passing is too unpredictable, often he tries to spray ambitious long balls when it's easier just to play the simple pass
  14. Yeah I know! At least we waited four games before sacking sir bobby!
  15. You've already said that once. I echo the sentiment though, he frustrates the life out of me sometimes, but I'm not knocking 2 goals in 2 games from the position he's been playing. One outstanding goal that only he could have scored as well. Yeah same. I do rate the guy, although I think he still has a long way to go but with the right coaching he could become an excellent striker. I'm just concerned he'll never pick up the things that tend to come more naturally to strikers.
  16. You've already said that once. Yes, and i was hoping someone would enlighten me on the matter
  17. While we're on the subject of Martins, is anyone else not worried that he hasn't figured out that he can probably just knock the ball quite far past a defender and run, instead of slowing the ball down to walking pace and using fancy footwork?
  18. Too old? No, he was just awful. Yeah, you're right, it was his fault that there wasn't any service from midfield. Not as if it was his first competitive game of the season in which he came on as a sub....oh wait...
  19. It's in the sun. THE SUN! Very much doubt its true , for a number of reasons. While we're on the subject of Martins, is anyone else not worried that he hasn't figured out that he can probably just knock the ball quite far past a defender and run, instead of slowing the ball down to walking pace and using fancy footwork?
  20. Diop is over-rated imo. He couldn't even get a game for Fulham in the latter era of Coleman's reign.
  21. This article kind of assumes that Allarydice isn't capable of molding his tactics to fit Owen in, which I think he is capable of. IF we can keep Owen fit then the team should suit the way he plays as he is a quality player BUT only if he can prove his fitness for a sustained period of time. That's a big if.
  22. Too f****** right, man. mackems.gif
  23. haha... resorting to classic winding-up material. I don't even know what that is. You obviously do though. Some of us have busy lives. Where were you last week? I was in London, where was you?
  24. You mean you'll disappear to a Juve/AC Milan forum? f****** good. BTW people this guy's not even an NUFC fan Nor is G Mac by the looks of it. Not only does he not support Newcastle but he also has no idea what he's talking about. Looking at his previous posts he calls Martins a poor man's Lua Lua and says Hargreaves is a bland, average player.
