You'd think so. But we'll need to win the Boro and Fulham games to have any real chance of finishing above Sunderland, not going to happen sadly Where are you expecting Sunderland to get points from? i'm expecting Sunderland to stay on 35 points meaning we need at least 5 to finish above them, given their superior goal difference. Not going to happen imo It would take a heavy loss in our 3rd game for us to win one, draw one and lose one and not overtake Sunderlands GD if they lose all 3 of their games

Still a one. We are not going down. Keep repeating it in your head all day. By Monday you will be believing it. PMT boys. All that is needed (Positive Mental Thoughts)

some win more than others though... If you look at the 'true' league table - i.e. if all decisions were corrected then there is minimal change in respects of who is at the top of the league and who is at the bottom. That suggests that for everyone the ref gets it right or wrong in pretty much equal measures

What's to look forward to in the Championship?

2 games within an hours drive for me down in South Wales. Although whether I would fancy being an away fan in Cardiff is another matter all together -
Habib Beye's Joey Barton's Steven Taylor's not from Newcastle.

Are we now the most hated club in England??
Colos Short and Curlies replied to pedro111's topic in Football
They'll miss us next season. Case in point. 300 Pompey fans at SJP Monday, reverse the fixture and we would have taken at least 2,000 down. Put a Newcastle game on in just about any bar and there will be Toon fans putting money into the tills. How many Hull fans do you see outside of Hull? As with most things, the thought of us going down (to others) is a lot better (and funnier) than the reality -
bloody hell! I'm with Apisith on this. A cup is one day, a pot for the trophey room and not a lot else. Give me the memories of PSV 2-3 Toon, Inter 2-2 Toon, Toon 3-2 Barca any day over winning one league or even FA Cup. I'm not even all that arsed about winning the league, again its a tin pot. The European adventure that comes with finishing second would/did replace any dejection in not being champions. We wouldn't even be able to gloat about winning a cup. All that would happen is 'no trophey in x years', becomes 'only one trophey in x years'.

The Newcastle United Transfer Thread MkII

Heard that Celtic are keeping tabs on him too. I think that should the Swans get up via the p/os then Gomez may be gracing the Liberty for at least one more season. -
Whitley Bay 2-0 Glossop North End - photos from page 3 onwards

I'm working in Glossop at the mo, looking over their 'ground'. The towns gone Wembley mad -
Imagine the celebrations. Especially if it sent Sunderland down. From another thread. I'm the only one on here who wants the mackems to stay up? To me the perfect season for the Mackems is 6 points given to the Toon and for them to finish 4th from bottom. I miss derby days when they are not around. Fuck Boro though, let both them and Hull go down so they can have their derby in the Championship.

Ashley has no one else to blame if we go down
Colos Short and Curlies replied to TRon's topic in Football
I'm not saying forgive, but I do think that the club will move forward this summer once we secure survival. Removing the likes of Geremi, Cacapa, Viduka, Owen (potentially now..), even Given will give the club so much more room for adding to the playing staff. We'd miss one and half of them and their wages would cover 7 or eight new player wages easily. I'm definitely cooling towards Ashley but I do hold the belief that this painful season was a painful necessisty to get us to a position where we can start again I don't see how us losing Given was a step forward. Hence we'll miss the one and a half (Owen obviously being half). It goes without saying that Given is a better keeper then any of Harper, Krul, Forster but... If selling Given leads us to having available wages to sign a proper midfielder then the team as a whole would be better. yes mate, but Newcastle shouldn't be thinking of such cost cutting. At the end of the day, as tooj says, selling Given - or creating the situation where he wanted to go to be more precise - is never a step forward. Its a huge step backwards and has sent out a bad message to the footballing world. Of course Newcastle shouldn't be thinking along these lines. But....... We made an investment intended to get us back to the top 4 or top 6 at least and regular European football. The investment failed and now we have to act on this basis. It would have been the same if Fred was still here. There is no blame attached in this post to either Fred or Ashley, Fred made the investment, which didn't come off but most people agreed with at the time (even if the players themselves were debated, the fact we were spending money wasn't) and Ashley is dealing with the fall out. Of course a team with Given and Owen in it which is challenging for Europe is preferrable to not having players of this ilk. But paying wages geared towards European football is not sustainable when you are struggling to even stay in the league. We're now getting to the stage where we may be able to spend a bit on new wages and have another crack at it, and this is the positive coming out of the current situation. Whether this is under Ashley or another new owner remains to be seen. -

unlike Alan Oliver Is he the one that works for the Chronical. He's the highly respected journalist who looks like the bloke from Rainbow (go on do a google images search and see the resemblence) who is now banned from SJP -
