  1. Was going to post something very similar. Its easy to get caught up in our bubble but do other premier league clubs have the same sort of feel and attachment? Genuine question, I know you get the 'ones a blue always wanted to play for Liverpool' crap, but could any other club pull this type of release off? Also, how can someone like Isak who has all the talent in the world not get a twinge of how much of an absolute hero and legend they could be here when surrounded by the way we hold onto the heroes of the past? Give him the bloody number 9 shirt and help make him a god (or a fucking legend in Bruno speak) Finally - how much is that hat going to be worth on ebay...
  2. Perhaps Villa are playing a longer game, take a few points hit next season but protect the squad and look at Europa as the route into the champions league for 26/27
  3. Especially at £500k a week, we can definitely only afford one
  4. Kluivert would be my number one choice if he wasn't predominantly a left sided player. What about Ascensio? Proved he can do it on the premier league, one year left on his contract so probably available for a lowish price (helps with the inevitable high wages).
  5. Should have been brown as a nod to the Mersey
  6. You'll end up with a Sophie Ellis Bexter - all the right features but just doesn't quite work (Groovejet video as the exemption here)
  7. Bookmark this for when Liverpool win the league by 30 points but I really think they are going to (relatively) bomb next year as age and the weight of all the cash in his pockets catches up with Salah. Fighting it out in the 4th - 7th group rather than fighting with City for second place (behind us of course!)
  8. We don't need to sell for an actual profit to benefit though - just need to sell at above book value. Not that I'd be selling him though unless it's to bring in a transformational talent. Id like to think we could get more headroom benefit from selling Longstaff and Willock than Barnes, well maybe close to the benefit rather than more...
  9. Forest are likely to be back in PSR shit next summer with their owner, swoop in and do them a favour with a £50m deal (plus Vlac going back).
  10. Phil fucking Neville taking out Gillespie at OT won the league for ManU
  11. Only 36, could do worse for a home grown cheap option 🤣
  12. I think he'll stay (for 2 years if we get CL again for 26/27), and obviously hope he stays but if he is going to leave I just hope it's quick so we don't miss the boat of opportunity on the likes of Sesko, Omishen, David etc
  13. He's never going to perform as a £80m winger, or at least out perform that and there will always a little chipping away at his because of the fee. He will of course do well if he moves, he's a more than decent player, but I doubt he'll ever quite reach where he should for more than the odd spell. Our squad would be better served in selling one of Gordon or Barnes and bringing in a slightly different left wing profile and then do the same on the right so we have one more direct and one a little more considered as options - even if the individual players in Barnes and Gordon are better
  14. Arsenal more likely at 5:30 so we need to have a b team down there ready to play
  15. First: Brighton away Boxing day: Leeds home Last: Fulham home (well technically it will be Madrid (neutral) Bonus points... Mackems at home early October, away late Feb
  16. I'm taking an educated guess on wages being around £2m a year and as you would pay them if he stays they come off the base cost
  17. Assuming the £20m was correct and any deal happens after 1st July then you can also take into account the amortisation for 25/26 as it's a hit if he stays or goes and you've got a years wages saved from the p&l. So overall the loss in 25/26 is of a base cost of around £10m None of this applies before the end of June!
  18. Its probably (understatement) too many changes but you could add Gordon to the outgoings (£80m?) and bring in Kluivert for £45m bringing the net spend a little closer to £100m. I wouldn't do that trade in isolation but overall the team is much stronger in this champ man tastic scenario
  19. as long as you put a comma before the 000. Personally pefer k, or 'k as a table heading
  20. Gillespie and Ruddy (or Forster/Krul likely for next season) are neither here nor there but realistically Dubs and Pope will be off this summer or next so unless our Greek God turns into a decent number 2 we're looking for an understudy for the likely England number 1 next summer at the latest. That isn't going to be an easy task at all
  21. I'd refer you to Given being the only Irishman to not know where Dublin was :-) But they were really few and far between
  22. Anyone can be put on gardening leave, but seems little point in putting on leave if its on good terms as it is a pair of hands to work through negotiations etc
  23. I can tell you it's tough. I was told that my role was being taken in a different direction (told middle of April) bit asked of I would stay to November to sort out year end amongst a few other things. Motivation has hit an all time low and I'm only 6 weeks into a 7 month period. Poor Sean has essentially been in this position for a year so credit to him for keeping motivated this season.
  24. We're going to need a second keeper within a year to regardless on who we sign this summer. Can't see Pope being a number 2 and Dubs is off. Going to be difficult getting a decent number 2 in to play second fiddle to a young keeper destined to be England's number 1. Good luck Eddie!
  25. Id let Dubs go and get his Saudi payday now. Send the Greek over
