  1. Does anyone really believe that clubs believe agent bollocks in the press about other clubs interest in players?
  2. Controversial one here, but I couldn't stand Given when he first signed. (1) he took Pav's place (sorry Jx2) (2) His taking Pav's place co-incided with a poor start to the season. Soon changed my mind though
  3. You wear really tight undies don't you? Let them breathe man! I believe we are in a stronger position if we both bid. The premier league is really popular right now, there are a lot of top Argentinians here all doing really well and we just signed an Argentinian ourselves! Enjoy the speculation we are in with a very good chance afterall. Modric didn't come and we're all still alive right? Chill. Close thing though!
  4. To be fair, Norwich isn't the worst place a young could go to to get experience. Quite sheltered from the media spotlight one would assume
  5. I'd assume that would mean another left back is coming in? Kadar would have been third in line I'd guess
  6. Maybe Keegan likes the look of this guy but has been told that he would only be available on a loan for the time being. Would you rather Keegan/The club (a) Take the loan, strenghtening relations between the clubs for a possible transfer next summer (b) Decide that actually, no we'll go elsewhere, start another player appraisal and maybe buy a second choice fullback this summer. No right answer btw, but I'd prefer option (a)
  7. What stupid things do you enjoy about supporting the Toon? With me living away, for me its seeing a car with a Toon badge/flag etc in it. Obviously its not as common as seeing a Man U banner or even a Chelsea one these days, but it just warms the insides a little when I go past one on the motorway.
  8. Not like a Scouser to be bitter is it?
  9. Its Okay to believe the media if we want the club to sign the player in question and its a favourable piece
  10. Can we add a poll to where we think he will end up? something like: European Champs League European UEFA English Champs League English Uefa Toon Other Eurpean Other UK Stay at Zenit ??????????????
  11. Never heard of him, must be shit. Legend on Pro Evo, always play him in the hole
  12. Spotted in a Taxi with SWP. Another MA cost saving scheme
  13. Wouldn't work. What happens if a club sell a player for £20m but their budget cap figure is only £15m? They can't spend the £15m plus the £20m they recouped? You stupid boy. Edit: That sounds harsh. mackems.gif Fair point.
  14. well Beckhams 'income' to Real paid for both his and Zidanes salary if you believe the reports! (I know not technically fee related.....)
  15. What would you have said to signing Shearer (assume you are not Newcastle) in 2000 for £7-10m. World Class, approaching the same age, at a provincial club, had a few injuries.
  16. Ah but wasn't it great when stories of the likes of Klinnsmann and Bergkamp coming to the Premier League got everyne excited and not just supporters of the club involved
  17. Can you explain what that really means, for the cretins. (me) Say club x has a turnover of £100m, club y £50m Wages are capped at 50% turnover, Net transfer fees capped at 30% turnover Club x can spend £50m on wages and £30m on transfers (+ whatever they can raise through sales). This leaves £20m to cover the running of the club Club y can spend £25m and £15m respectively, leaving £10m to run the club. Any club which makes a loss before transfer activity (i.e would have to borrow money to buy players) would be docked points based on the extent of the loss. The natural environment would prevent these clubs spending vast amounts on transfer fees This still gives an incentive to finish higher up the league (higher position = more revenue = more to spend etc) but removes the artifical environment of an Abramovich type figure and would not allow a Leeds to happen. Regulating that in a global market would be horrendous, but its the only way to make a competitive level playing field (imo anyway)
  18. Have to put a cap on wages and expenditure as a % of turnover. Clubs with a loss pre transfer activity should be docked points for the following season
  19. I know a few on here who would only like us to bid for him if he costs over £20m (not NE5 btw)
  20. So will the City fans by Christmas! What I don't understand is what has changed between Ronaldinho turning down Man Utd due to it 'always raining' in Manchester and now???
  21. Saw a letter on F365 the other day about this which I agreed with... Blatter (and FIFA) are not so much concerned with English football, but the overall impact club football is having on the International game and see England as the strongest league and therefore the greates threat to the likes of the World Cup etc. Points to consider...... Compensation paid to players eg M Owen. The biggest contracts are in English Football Strength of the Champions League and it becoming the most important football trophey. Look which country has been most consistent in this competition recently. Players pulling out of friendlies (and even the African Nations) and clubs influence over these withdrawels - again their is a link to the location of the players clubs.
