I have no idea why he's shouting. If I was telling the world that Carr is the only Newcastle player to have played every minute this season I would be whispering it with embarrassment. There's no reason to be impolite, I know you just want him back in the white shirt :winking: On the contrary, I was in my politest mode! Would dearly love to see him at WHL but I'll forego the dream so as to not disappoint the SJP faithful. :winking:

N'Zogbia, the only one I would like to see at WHL playing for the home team.

What "unkown" player would you like see playing for Newcastle?
Martin Lol replied to Kaizero's topic in Football
Braaten wasn't very good in today's game, thankfully. bluecool.gif Skjelbreid is still young, and will only get better. He's a huge talent. I'd add Chinedu Ogbuke to your list. Spurs were trying hard to get him interested about a month or so ago, but it seems like it will be another Manu/Chelsea scrap a la Mikel when he does move on. -

Marouane Fellaini -
Still of interest though when somebody spends over £1m buying Newcastle shares.

After this morning saying he wasn't................ http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=427732&CPID=8&clid=1&lid=4161&title=United+confirm+Adu+arrival Manchester United have confirmed to Sky Sports News that American teenager Freddy Adu will link up with the club for a two-week trial. The Washington Post reported on Wednesday that the DC United ace was to spend two weeks with the Premiership giants later this month. United earlier moved to reject the report but have now made a U-turn on their previous stance. The 17-year-old is expected to train with the Premiership giants towards the end of the month to allow him to get a taste of English football. If he impresses manager Sir Alex Ferguson, The Red Devils could step up their bid to land the Ghana-born striker in January. Adu turns 18 next June and would therefore be eligible to move to Europe ahead of next season, but United may look to wrap up a deal as soon as possible. However, they are likely to face stiff competition from across Europe with clubs such as Chelsea and Real Madrid also linked with the teenage sensation. But United appear to have stolen a march on their rivals by luring him to Old Trafford for a short trial. Adu still has a year remaining on his contract with DC United but is known to be a fan of The Premiership and could look to quit Major League Soccer for England next year.

I was hearing last night that Pompey won't be going after Anthony Gardner after all (as everyone had been hoping) as Redknapp has reputedly struck a deal for Distin. If it is true, would be a blow for Spurs fans and possibly Newcastle too.

Depends what team is selected. Make it the team that beat Chelsea and I would be extremely confident home or away. If it was last night's team, would be very difficult to be confident about winning. Barcham made his debut and looked a promising Championship player, Ifil has seriously gone backwards over the last 2 years and Davids' playing days are just about over imho. The big big plus for Spurs was the debut of Dorian Dervite, 18 yr old French CB, 6' 4" and built like a tank. Extremely composed on the ball, good positioning, on the night was better than Dawson. Looking forward to see how he fares playing against premiership opposition, because I think Dawson may well have serious competition for a starting berth in the not too distant future.

Hard to believe Rafa's agent would say something like that without his boss's knowledge or consent.

Not surprised tbh. Pardew did nothing wrong in my eyes. If a manager can't celebrate his team scoring a goal.................. Anyone remember Fergie and Brian Kidd dancing on the pitch some years ago?? Far far less than what Pardew did.
-
In all probably it isn't but I'll keep on hoping.... Similar stories coming from 2 sources, an employee at the emirates and a journo at the Independent or Telegraph. The suggestion is that there has been no official comment from Arsenal or Wenger because Wenger offered to resign immediately after Pardewgate which was not accepted but nothing had been resolved up to last night. What I heard was "Immediately after the game Wenger tendered his resignation, which was rejected by Hill-Wood & Dein. A meeting was proposed for yesterday morning to resolve matters, but neither Wenger nor his representatives kept the appointment. Arrangements for another meeting last night failed to get them together." How true I don't know but in the absence of any official comment from the scum, I'm hoping this is the reason!

True I suppose. I never like the idea of managers playing youngsters with an injury keeping their fingers crossed that it won't develop into a serious injury. I knew a young kid at Charlton some years ago and his career was over at 19 through playing when he shouldn't have been.

............ and more bad news: http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=427452&CPID=8&clid=4&lid=2&title=Op+to+end+Shola's+season Shola Ameobi is poised to undergo surgery on his hip in America, with Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder expecting the striker to miss the remainder of the season. Ameobi has been troubled by a hip complaint for well over a year and the club decided surgery was the only option after a period of rest over the summer failed to alleviate the problem. The 25-year-old has soldiered on for a couple of months, but the pain has become so intense that he will head to America for what Roeder feels will be season-ending surgery. "We're close to booking the operation in America," declared Roeder. "When he has it, that's him for the season." The Magpies have slipped to second from bottom in The Premiership and striking options are thin on the ground on Tyneside, with Michael Owen a long-term absentee and Obafemi Martins also in the treatment room.

.........and are now saying it is a serious injury originally occuring before the Palermo game! Beginning to sound more and more like Souness using players too soon. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=427490&CPID=8&clid=4&lid=2&title=Fresh+injury+blow+for+Magpies Newcastle have been dealt yet another blow, with Dutch keeper Tim Krul picking up what appears to be a serious knee injury. The youngster is rated extremely highly within the corridors of St James' Park and he went some way to living up to his billing when producing a starring show in The Magpies' Uefa Cup win in Palermo. Krul was set to be on the bench for Tuesday's trip to Watford in the Carling Cup, but picked up an injury in the warm-up and spent the night in hospital. The 18-year-old is set to undergo a series of tests on Wednesday, but manager Glenn Roeder feels he has damaged his cartilage. "Tim got injured before the game in Italy last week, and we weren't sure then whether he had damaged his cartilage or just had a bang on his knee," Roeder told the club's website. "We had it scanned, and that didn't show anything conclusive and he was able to play against Palermo and had the most wonderful debut. "We were not 100 percent certain that there wasn't some sort of cartilage damage, and sure enough it looks like that has surfaced tonight. "He wasn't going to be involved in the game, but was doing a pre-match training session with Terry Gennoe when he dived and made a save. "As he got up, the knee locked and he was in a lot of pain. "He has been very well looked after by the medical staff and doctor at Watford and has been taken to hospital. "If he needs anything done, then it will be done in Watford."

............. and ironically one of the cheapest. That should tell FFS something when the next window opens. Most expensive doesn't always mean best.

  Agree were much with what you are saying here. Dunno about Keegan, would love for him to do great here again. But isnt he a bit loose on the money? I would actually love Kenny Dalglish back here as a DoF. Think he could do a very good job for us. And is a great person too. Would have suggested the ex argentinian coach as our new manager, only problem might be the language. What makes you think Dalgleish would make a good DoF. Knows nothing about current continental players, been out of the game for far too long but does have a very good golf handicap. Just because he has been out of job a while, doesnt meen he know nothing of current players. He can be up to date for all we know. He seems like the kind of person who can do good deals, as I can remember he handle the media very fine. He just looks like a person who can represent the club very well, and I bet he would spend his money wise. But its my personall view, you might have another. But I like the idea of him in that role, and just think he would do a good job. Maybe similar like the one he did in blackburn A lot of water has gone under the bridge since the Blackburn days. As I've said previously in other threads, Comolli joined Spurs with a dossier on every first team squad player of every club in Europe. I would doubt whether Dalgleish would have a dossier of every club in Europe, let alone each of their first team squad players. Spurs have shown in the past with Pleat what happens when someone not fully qualified is given the job. If I was looking to appoint a DoF, I would be looking at Houllier, Allofs, Monchi or Van Geel. They are the ones highly respected by both Arnesen and Comolli, which would be good enough recommendation for me. Not heard of these chaps, care to enlighten us... Allofs at Werder Bremen, Monchi at Sevilla and Van Geel was at AZ then moved to Ajax. Monchi and Van Geel were both interviewed by Spurs before appointing Comolli.

Too true. There's a few clubs out there wishing their strikers had got 3 goals this season!

Hadn't seen that before, but I've answered it now.

Watford v Newcastle United - Post Match Thoughts
Martin Lol replied to BlufPurdi's topic in Football
Didn't seem to be celebrating too much at the end tbh either. Not convinced everything is harmony and light with him at the present time. You didn't see it on SSN then. He went mental and celebrated with the crowd before throwing his shirt to them. What I did see was on SSN but not that. Having seen more since (and the stills) obvious he was happy!! It wasn't a windup, I did think he seemed subdued. Obviously the bit whe he was getting his second wind! :winking: -
Cheers for the info. With the amount of injured strikers you've got, it would be cruel to have another one on the treatment table.
-
Is there any word on what his injury is? On Sky last night they were saying it loked like a hamstring.

Bring back Bramble!!

SSN are saying he was kept in hospital overnight.
