  1. Didn't seem to be celebrating too much at the end tbh either. Not convinced everything is harmony and light with him at the present time.
  2. Shankley's achievement of taking Liverpool from where they were to where they were when paisley took over was only bettered by Paisley himself. Both better managers than rednose imho.
  3. Personally I think winning games should boost confidence but tricky league games coming up with a small and tired squad. Suppose it could have no affect at all other than to give FFS and GR more breathing space, but overall, I don't think so. A good result for Newcastle both tonight and for the next couple of months too. Any thoughts?
  4.  Agree were much with what you are saying here. Dunno about Keegan, would love for him to do great here again. But isnt he a bit loose on the money? I would actually love Kenny Dalglish back here as a DoF. Think he could do a very good job for us. And is a great person too. Would have suggested the ex argentinian coach as our new manager, only problem might be the language. What makes you think Dalgleish would make a good DoF. Knows nothing about current continental players, been out of the game for far too long but does have a very good golf handicap.
  5. Good God almighty !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which matches this fat idiot been attending ? Not bloody Newcastle matches thats for damn sure. WHAT excellent performances, when ? FFS may need reminding that the team in the black and white striped shirts is Newcastle! :winking: Although Notts County have been playing attractive football recently.
  6. Spending, discriminately or otherwise, is only part of the problem. Purchases have to be made but they have to be funded. The non-performers have to go and so (imo) do the ones that do very little apart from receiving hugely inflated salaries. This of course should have been done last summer in the longer window but it wasn't, Newcastle are now in the bottom 3 and a drastic situation requires drastic action. I would be looking at 5 or 6 going out and double that number coming in. Realism also has to set in. Someone said sign Klose. There is absolutely no way Klose will join Newcastle in January. He may have done in the summer but with your league position right now and the internal problems, he would give it far less than a minutes thought before saying no. You don't want especially talented players playing pretty football either. Strikers who get in where it hurts and defenders who don't go walkabout when marking and put the ball into row Z if necessary. Results are more important than style. Buying a dozen or so players doesn't have to cost a lot either. Bosmans, players with only one year remaining or low initial fee with add-ons should be Newcastle's priorities, not spending another £10m on a striker (if there is £10m to be spent). A low initial fee with add-ons would be especially useful if you are getting players in just to get you out of the current situation and shouldn't harm your delicate finances either. Spurs bought Andy Reid for an initial £2m rising to £4.1m, sold him for £3m before any extra payments were made, profit £1m on a player who was a flop. Newcastle need 2 new full backs. Last year Spurs needed 2 as well and signed LYP and Stalteri for a combined fee of £1.35m. Not the best but better than what we had and better than what you've got now. But they were just short term improvements, a year later they are both only squad players and both positions have been upgraded again. That's what Newcastle need to do all over the pitch. Not go for the level they really want because there isn't the money, just get upgrades. This could have started in the summer. Arthur Boka was excellent as LB for Ivory Coast in the World Cup, good defensively, strong going forward. A regular international and only 23. He moved from Strasbourg to Stuttgart on the last day of the summer transfer window. Just an hour before the window closed. For €1.75m. That's £1.17m. Is anyone going to tell me he's not significantly better than what you've already got?
  7. I'm glad FFS said that to be honest. If he hadn't I would have going along with the misconception that the performances against Charlton and Fulham (to name but 2) were crap. But now FFS has told me they were really excellent performances I'll be able to sleep easy tonight!
  8. Absolutely priceless!!
  9. I would be very surprised to see Nugent moving for anything like £3m.
  10. If it hadn't been Chelsea's strategy of 'we'll sign him because we don't want you to have him', SWP would be a scummer now. Not convinced Wenger would still want him. Don't think Lennon is going anywhere for the forseeable tbh and certainly not to the other lot. He's built up a good rapport with Ricardo Moniz (the skills coach) and Davids who is instilling the right thinking into his play. Strong rumours still that Davids will join the coaching staff next year.
  11. Dear Fred F*ck off yours faithfully A Loyal Supporter. I think that would find more favour with the majority of fans tbh. :winking:
  12. Foster by a mile!! tongue.gif
  13. I'm inclined to agree with you tbh. Having said that, I am assured that, whatever Mourinho says, an approach has been made. I also understand that Defoe has today verbally requested a move in January and will be putting it in writing this week. Off to a feeder club I hope. We could send him back to his roots at the Valley and take Darren Bent of their hands. bluebiggrin.gif Very long odds that he would be welcomed back with open arms though.
  14. Very harsh and totally unnecessary. I think the phrase you were searching for was "The man should be sectioned".
  15. Hmmm............... I sense that you're not over impressed!

  17. ....... and he would have come out with Chris Coleman courtesy of the Egyptian! Precisely why I added the words "metaphorically speaking", my friend. blueyes.gif But I didn't want your qualifying phrase to get in the way of my joke!! bluebiggrin.gif
  18. In that case he did make a big mistake!

    The keep poll

I don't think Moore organises your defence any better than Boumsong before him tbh. Dyer is a good player when he's fit, which unfortunately, isn't often enough. Not worth keeping in my view, especially on his current cotract.

    The sell poll

Newcastle could afford to sell almost anyone provided they bring in one or two on bosmans/final season deals to replace them. It means a huge amount of incomings and outgoings, but it can be done. Apparently it was said on Sky yesterday that Spurs and completed over 100 transfer deals (buying or selling) in the last two years.  As we have lost money on very few transfer deals in that time, it's been worthwhile. Admittedly Spurs did start at a position far worse than Newcastle were at the same time, but maybe it is closer to Newcastle's strength of squad right now.
  22. Even if is cost £2m, its still in our reach, we could, even if my estimations are out get all three for the price of Boumsong. If the rumours are true that Liverpool are interested, surely there is no possible way he would opt for Newcastle instead. Duff was stupid enough to do it. I bet he regrets his decision now! lol The choice between Newcastle and Spurs? At the time he made his decision Spurs were 5th and Newcastle 7th, not a lot to choose between the two at that time tbh. Bigger signing on fee and more weekly too, cant blame him tbh and he could reasonably have expected Newcastle to kick on from the end of last season but they haven't. The truth is no-one, you, me or Duff, expected Newcastle to do so little in the summer transfer window. The fact that they did is now reflected in the results and the recriminations are starting now that the shortcomings at that time are coming home to roost.

  24. I think the word he was trying to find is "ability".
  25. My college teacher was called Warrick... Probably still is. Did your college teacher have a dad who was a chairman of a football club?? bluebiggrin.gif
