  1. I reckon it'll be Krul, Simpson, S Taylor, Tozer, Kadar, Pancrate, Butt, Guthrie, Kazenga, Ranger and Shola. Reasons: Krul for Harper is obvious, Krul needs some game time. Simpson because we've obviously asked permission for him to play, S Taylor because "he knows what the cup is about" or some bollocks, Tozer and Kadar to give Colo and Enrique a rest. Pancrate to get match fitness, Butt because of his "great experience of the competition," Guthrie as he was rested against Derby, Kazenga because he's worth a look (if fit, not heard anything about him in a while - if not it'll probably be Lovenkrands...or Geremi!?) Ranger to get him some game time, Shola to regain match fitness - pointless him going another week without a game, if we get an hour-75 minutes out of him here he'll probably get a goal if the rest of the season is anything to go by. However this is Hughton, it could be anything.
  2. Well there was the show of petulance the other week when he was subbed, does that count? I agree though, for some reason I think of him as a troublemaker but I can't figure out why,
  3. I don't mind if we go out, but I'd hate us to put out the youth team for fans who are travelling 400 miles on the day after New Year. Sensible mix please Chris.
  4. Pretty sure Krul, Kadar, Guthrie, Butt, Pancrate, Kazenga and Ranger will start, maybe Shola too to get him some match fitness. Then it's just a matter of which defenders don't get a rest, and if Simpson is allowed to play by Man Utd.
  5. Cardiff have no money so I imagine they aren't in a position to reject bids - and he was dropped yesterday. However I assumed Ledley would finally get his move away which will cost someone like Stoke £4m+ and I doubt they'd sell both. Waste of money really due to him being gash in the Premiership, some sort of magical loan deal would go down a treat, but there's no way in hell that would happen.
  6. Hughton wants Beckford Hughton does not want Boyd Chopra is being considered - The Chronicle understands http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2009/12/29/chris-hughton-i-want-jermaine-beckford-72703-25486276/
  7. The thing is, the majority of players being linked with moves away are being linked with Premiership Clubs - Enrique, Carroll, Taylor, even Nolan was linked with Jull, Lovenkrands nearly signed for Birmingham, Premiership clubs supposed to be looking at Simpson and Jonas & Colo being linked with all manner of European clubs. Some of the players we've got, individually, are good enough for the Premiership, how many of those players I listed would get a start in the Premiership is another matter, but we are nowhere near a good enough team at present. Birmingham and Fulham are the types of models to look at, decent players with a few who are exceptional but two solid units.
  8. The best case scenario is that a couple of established Premier League sides go down - Portsmouth, West Ham & Bolton would be ideal out of the realistic strugglers. That leaves a lot of doss in the Premiership, so if we can go up we'd definitely have a fighting chance if we brought in 2 or 3 players in the attacking positions - ironically our defence is the strongest part of our team now and Birmingham & Fulham are great examples of teams who are punching above their weight by having a settled back 4 who have gelled as a unit (and yes it helps having a good manager obviously)
  9. Only problem with Guthrie is that he wants to play inside, and so naturally drifts inside, making it all a bit narrow on the right. This would be fine if we had an attacking full back, but Simpson doesn't like passing half way. This way teams end up doubling up on Jonas because there's nothing stretching the game on the right. Ryan Taylor at least wants to be wide but is less of a footballer. As for Pancrate, he seemy pacey and has a trick or two but generally, he's not set the world alight. Someone I'd like to use as an impact sub when a game is stretched, ideally.
  10. I blame Dec, take your lass to a game and it's never something that might impress her.
  11. Diouf you horrible bastard, get in.
  12. Great start to the 2nd halves this
  13. Cardiff are so weird, they either win heavily or lose to someone shite.
  14. Sean Davis is at Bolton and crippled. AGAIN. No point.
  15. Most of the time Taylor's been around, he's had Butt in front of him. Not to mention Clark and Faye.
  16. Whilst I agree he wasn't always shite, the knives came out for him afer the Stoke game at St. James, and it didn't help that when West Ham beat us 3-1 Shearer ripped it out of him on MOTD.
