No hyping please! If anyone expects a thrashing or us playing them off the park, think again. I hope the fans don't just let the Arsenal game be a one-off where we come together, put a great performance in and then we're back to booing the players if it's 0-0 at HT against Birmingham. I really really really hope that the Arsenal game signaled a new beginning and all of us (including the fans) having a different attitude about the team. A pathetically insanely boring 1-0 win will do me.

Let's keep St James' Park a cauldron of noise

that's the spirit Dougie We're playing table-toppers Arsenal. We're playing a team that plays 'pure' football. If anything, it'll be a good game of football, even if we lose. Howay the lads! -
The booing perspective - Joey Barton has his say on us...

If fans are the barometer of a club then we're really not a good club then, are we? -
I love Parky in this mood. I'm thinking it's gonna be a draw. As long as we show up though, that's all I'm asking. This season was always going to be a transition year and games like these were always going to be ones that we were expected to lose.

So who's Biffa on here? Is Niall registered as well?

Evra is such a divint cunt. I hate the fucker.

What's the history for this fixture? I mean, do we normally sell out our allocated slot each time? If yes then obviously demand outstrips previous supply so we should pick up some more as I'm sure people will want to go.

He'll probably spend about £10m net. Selling Owen off will generate some funds for him as well.

Would anyone say no to sacking Allardyce for Benitez? -

I'd be fucking livid too. Cheeky twats. (If true) Do they really think Mourinho would be told to wait months to sort transfers out ? - iam starting to like Hicks and Gillett It's becoming a clear case of American owners not understanding an English football club and all that goes with it. They are trying to wrench the buying and selling power away from Rafa and also wanting to wait till Dec for 'the talks' is a sign they want to see how the CL qual go. Still stand by my prediction he's be gone by summer, but it might not be cause he isn't as good a coach as made out but simply bad communication and power struggles within the club. I think they're trying to implement a 'general manager' structure which is the same structure that American sports have (NBA, NFL, NHL and MLS). It's just a shittier name for a 'director of football' i.e. someone to take care of the signings and that leaves the 'coach' just coaching the team and doing the tactics and training. Similar to the way Spurs are doing things now I guess. Rafa will walk soon enough if this is what they're trying to do. -
Do we have anyone leftover from SBR's reign btw? There's Butt, Given, Carr and umm.. I can't think of anyone else. Just a general question btw.

What? Roeder was a useless tit. Have you forgotten about the home game against Birmingham? How about the away game to AZ? How about all the 'Glenn Roeder does not... bla bla bla' or the 'I'm not using it as an excuse but really we had so many players injured and that's why it lost... but I'm still not using that as an excuse'. Fuck me, this is quite depressing.

SBR? He's already said he's about to leave football all together. A chance to finish things off here in a way he wished he did? A chance to turn this club around with a figure like Shearer beside him? I don't think he'd actually turn us down. And I'm not saying that he should come in and manage, but more like a consultancy role just to help Shearer start things off. Allardyce wasn't everyone's choice but I bet Shearer and SBR together would generate the kind of feel-good atmosphere that is needed now. Saying all that, I'm still backing Allardyce until the end of the season. The above was just an out of the box suggestion that I'd be excited about.
-
It'd be interesting if Shearer and SBR got a call from Mort asking whether they'd be willing to work together.
-
Backing him till the end of the season.
