    Hatem Ben Arfa

he brings up a fair point imo whats he said??
  2. with Spurs now qualifed for the CL and doubts over Defoe's fitness with his ongoing groin injury why would they let one of there strikers go?? Only leaves them Crouch and Pavlychenko. They will want 4 strikers.

all this formation talk and who'll get dropped for him etc is boring. Simple fact is that should this signing go through it gives the manager some more options in a small squad. It will mean we have Routledge, Jonas and HBA who are comfortable playing on either the left or right (could also add Lua lua as well) and signing HBA also gives the coach the option of playing behind the striker instead of Nolan. Players will get injured/suspended and we need options for when that happens. Lets worry about where he'll play and instead of which player when he's signed and available for selection. Another good win against Wolves this week and HBA could well be on the bench anyway and have to wait a few weeks to get into the team.........
  4. Villa fans have suprised me, thought they'd be leaving in droves after that last goal.....
  5. i think the opposition we get in the next round will decide what type of team we put out, ideally we get a home tie against Peterboro or MK Dons rather than an away game at Man City or Arsenal. i thought the team did well last night bearing in mind it was basically a make shift reserve team, Nile is a striker who played out wide, Tavernier is a right back who played centre half, Ferguson, while he i ok at left back i think he's a better left midfield/winger, Vuckic isn't really a central midfielder in a 442, he's more suited when playing behind the forward in the reserves/youth team 4231 formation and Kadar was making his first start after being injured in pre season
  6. i enjoyed that game, cracking cup tie, thought Accrington were decent and top marks to there fans for the Sir Bobby banner. Thought Tav played pretty well bearing in mind he's not a natural centre half and Kadar was pretty solid for his first game bearing in mind he missed pre season. Donaldson and Vuckic were ok in the middle of the park without being outstanding, don't think Haris is a centre midfielder mind. Ranger did well and looked a handful while Lua Lua was very bright and deserved his MOTM award. Apart from takin there goals well i thought both Shola and Loven were quiet.
  7. this is one of those games when i if we won i wouldn't be suprised but also a defeat wouldn't be a shock either. When you look at the fixtures this weekend its a massive opportunity to create an early gap from other teams who are expected to be at the bottom. Wigan are away at Spurs, West Ham play Man U and Stoke are away at Chelsea, can't see any of them winning so a win would put us 6 points clear of those (Wolves would be 7 clear). You also have the mackems playing Man City and they only have 1 point on the board so far. A win for us could be huge with a home game to follow next week against Blackpool.
  8. Donaldson will be the holding midfielder, thats where he plays for the reserves.....just strange that he then plays as a centre forward for England!! Dodgy at the back, Tav is a right back and how fit is Kadar? Good job Shola and Ranger are playing as without them we'd be struggling for height when it comes to defending and attacking set pieces.
  9. yes definately although in Newton's defence he's normally a midfielder.
  10. I reckon 5 and 5... Krul doesn't really fit either category. Ranger, Tavernier, Vuckic, Donaldson, Lua Lua + R.Taylor, Williamson, Perch, Guthrie, Shola/Lovenkrands and do the same with the bench, mixture of kids (Ferguson and Inman please) and pros. totally agree, need a couple of senior players in give them some protection, i hope we don't go with a total reserve/development squad (as Hughton now calls it) and have a back 4 along these lines TAVERNIER HENDERSON TOZER DUMMETT/FERGUSON that could be asking for trouble

    Sunderland...

thats more than i thought they'd get.
  12. will have to wait a bit longer for the England call up, he's been picked for the Under 21's again. Wilshere has been dropped back into the U21's but Gibbs hasn't so looks like he will keep his place in the senior squad.
  13. Kadar got injured pre-season but must be close to being fit now, don't think it was a serious injury. The lad does have a habit of picking up injuries though.....
  14. Xisco looked like he'd pulled up with a tweaked hamstring after that first run he made when he came on against Villa. He was definately rubbing the back of his thigh.
  15. i'd go with the following KRUL TAV CAMPBELL(60 mins) PERCH RAYLOR LUALUA SMITH INMAN VUKCIC RANGER LOVEN subs HARPER, WILLIAMSON, ROUTLEDGE, GUTHRIE, DONALDSON, SHOLA, AIREY i'd give Sol an hours run out to get him fit and would play Smith to "protect" the 3 young lads in the middle of the park. The biggest danger we will have is getting bullied off the ball. Although i've went for Inman it looks like Hughton will play Donaldson instead though. If Sol doesn't play i wonder if he'll get his first run out in a black and white shirt at the stadium of shite next Tuesday when the reserves start there season.
  16. aye i think so, he asked me last week if i wanted to do a bit on the reserves for the fanzine. Definately got the new NUFC fanzine up and running, not sure if he's totally binned players inc or not.
  17. thought i'd bump this First one of the new season starts today at 18.30 http://www.fansonline.net/newcastleunited/article.php?id=329
  18. just watching Sky Sports news and they were reporting about this Huang bloke pulling out and the reporter said he feels sorry for the long suffering Liverpool supporters as this drags on!! Long suffering??? They've picked up something like 40 trophies in my lifetime!! Try supporting NUFC and they'll then realise what long suffering is!

Could be that the player had complained and asked the club's press officers to deny it.
  20. FFS!!! I am losing hope here fast yes but we aren't playing till Sunday. if they get through tomorrows session then they will be ok to play. Won't their fitness be affected? No not really, they did some training today, so as long as they can train fully tomorrow then they should be ok for Sunday, as long as they don't have a reaction.

  22. He's a bit like Raul Meirieles in terms of ability I think, just a bit quicker. Raul Meirreiles is a quality player, this lad won't be as good as him.
  23. i think to most fans Villa were a nothing club with no real effect on NUFC fans thinking but that all changed at Villa park when we went down. Its probably hard to describe but for those like me who were there our view of Villa changed that day.
