  1. I think that a surprising attitude towards him tbh . Since the single, solitary, reason that some of the current players are here right now.. is not out of loyalty, or a determination to put the relegation season right... It's because their wage packet was too large. They wanted to stick around, knowing they have no relegation wage cut in their contracts, and definitely not wanting to take a pay cut to play top flight football. Bassong was actually our best performer that year too, did a lot better than his bigger name team mates. For the most part got on with it. Plus the club needed the money too..
  2. If we have 35mil available, would ideally like us to replace Nolan altogether. He just isn't a good player IMO.
  3. I'm amazed you were conned by it all, man. First you had Sky sources saying he was on the way to Liverpool, then 20 minutes later we'd rejected a bid. It was obvious the whole thing had become PR damage limitation long before Carroll's 'request' was announced. I'm struggling to see how it was so 'obvious' at the time, without looking at the saga with 20/20 hindsight. SSN are hardly the most reliable of media outlets. Their sources once announced that Ferdinand was to be imminently appointed England's captain in 2008, for the FA to announce 2 minutes later that it was to be in fact John Terry... and this was in the summer.. not an ultra busy day of the year for them, like transfer deadline day. If you called it as a PR exercise at the time then fair play. Would like to see a quote
  4. f*** me. Simple math.. Scored in three matches = 9 points on the table..Some players you cannot replace, if they're injured it will affect your season. Period. How many points did Carroll put on the board for us.. so are we still nearly as good?
  5. I think loans with the option to buy, in recent times, has brought about the best value for money. Would hate to see that cash spunked against the wall on someone who turns out to be Torres-esque
  6. Balotelli has scored goals at the top level, which fairly or unfairy puts him ahead of Neymar. Neymar will probably be better in a couple of years. 10 goals in 18 games for City is quite good btw. Considering new country, getting injured as soon as he arrived, not being an out and out forward... His performances for Manchester City have been pretty dismal tbh... His stats are very misleading.. 2 goals against West Brom, a hat-trick against a struggling Aston Villa, and also another against some very weak European team, it isn't exactly a shining example of one of the worlds most talented 20 year olds.
  7. Eh?? You don't believe Neymar is more talented than Balotelli? Balotelli, although obviously talented.. has done very little of note for well over a year now.. well, other than piss off supporters with poor performances ... generally just living off of early hype.
  8. Nah. Agreed, Balotelli is way to overrated by some. He's better than any Brazilian the same age or under.
  9. 100% agree. I find it also really peculiar that immediately after yesterdays match, many users on this forum would seek out Liverpool message boards to 'see what they think of Carroll now'. His NUFC career is over, we should all move on.
  10. Cool, Tottenham are drawn against the biggest team in the world. Nice.
  11. He makes Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink seem positively buoyant
  12. I would have him back in a flash, I don't hate the guy. For me he was a big reason why we are 6 points from safety and was instrumental in our promotion season. For 35mil, it's not like he saw out his contract.

    Alan Pardew

Teams buy 10 players a window on a regular basis. Especially when it's needed. That can't possibly be true? it's not. I can't think of any team who regularly brings in 10 players a window
  14. Eh? WHere was that quoted from? Saw it from BBC gossip, but entire article - 'http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1361098/Newcastle-star-Cheik-Tiote-happy-snubbed-Chelsea.html' absolutely nought in there regards to Chelsea mind, odd nonetheless.
  15. Most? If given the choice they would rather take 4th over a Europa league trophy ..... it's totally misleading to say they are 'confident' of achieving that man. They are simply stating what they prefer.
