Mm well people who have watched him mishit cross after cross for 2 and a half seasons maybe... just because he got an assist yesterday, it doesn't suddenly make him become the worlds best crosser now.. does it?

The only player i can think of vaguely similar would be Modric, but he's definitely a class below.
-
He didn't with bramble sadly, I still remember him dropping clangers when Woodgate played. Liverpool (h) 2003 reminds me of this. I can remember Bramble looking twice the player the vast majority of the time he played alongside Woody. Same goes for O'Brien. Agreed. I still remember his debut. I could not believe what I saw: NUFC playing well in defense. £9 million was an absolute steal. He's better than Ferdinand, and the latter cost £30 mill. If you compare skills with money paid, Woodagte was probably the best bargain in Castles history, together with Tiote and HBA. It wasn't a steal. If you pay £9M for a CB then you expect him to be fit for most of your games. Woodgate averaged around 30% of games, a shocking record simple as that. I was delighted when we sold him for £14M, again the problem was who we reinvested that money with. Where has that 30% figure came from? It certainly can't be associated with his time here.

He will make a decent option in terms of squad depth next season - that's providing we bring in some good strikers of course. This period is just a purple patch though.
-
I like to think he was talking about Steve Harper
-
I said Ireland (when fully fit) should replace him a week ago, and people thought I was off my rocker.
-
The club clearly wanted the money - someone probably told Andy flat out, that there is no chance of getting a pay-rise for the next 3 years at least.
-
Hah, well i distinctly remember Given saying in the Man City unveiling that he wished the club would have handled it all better... before January begun he was in talks regarding a new contract.
-
I want to see what is said from all parties, before i draw my conclusions whether he is a cunt or not. Something doesn't seem right, why would he be desperate enough to leave now? and not wait until the summer. Why does there seem to be a pattern emerging with Milner, Given and Carroll handing in transfer requests recently..it's just weird.
-
What we gonna do with the other 20 million? Invest it in Pokemon cards?

let's hope!

Its incredible that this scenario, which is you're opinion not fact, leaves Carroll completely blameless. Correct, it is my opinion. It's speculation on a situation that simply cannot be credibly taken at face value. For Andy, I believe that money talks and in the end, once he sees that he has a chance to win trophies at 3x the pay, he's going to do it. When he sees the club willing to sell him, it reiterates that the club aren't serious about winning or spending. Makes the decision to put in the transfer request much easier. For me, the blame is primarily on Ashley, less on Carroll. He has no intention on getting us to European football, which should be his goal. The business model he believes in of being a shoestring club that develops young/low-wage players and selling them off may be good for his bottom-line, but for any fans who are serious about competing for Europe and building a club that aims for winning shiny silver things that go in nice glass cabinets, you should be aware very much by now that Michael Ashley does not share your ambition. How the f*** is Carroll blameless. He got a new f***ing contract in November. Shearer could have joined Man Utd at various times when he was at NUFC to be the richest footballer on the planet and didn't. Thats the difference Shearer was loyal and Carroll isnt even after his lies to the Chronicle today he still went and i dont understand the transfer request why and what does he gain from it ,the transfer request will anger us for along time if it isnt explained . Didn't Shearer almost join Liverpool? Before Shepherd u-turned on the deal?

That they're leaving the transfer window far, far stronger than they were on Jan 1st? Yeah, livid. Clueless. Whereas we are leaving it far weaker - currently 3 players down an dour best player gone. And virtually all of the lower half teams have strengthened. It's Jan 09 all over again, but worse. And some are actually defending Ashley. Laughable. There's a big difference between defending someone, and not blaming them for something that isn't their fault. You don't think we could have easily kept him? He wanted the money, man. Then he showed what a mercenary c*** he is and it's better we've got rid after seeing his true colours. Everyone of our players would rather play at Liverpool, shall we get rid of them too?
-
Btw, i dont know if this is obvious or not, but sky sports showing caroll walking just fine!, you wouldn't walk perfectly fine and quickly if you had a muscle tear in your thigh would you? Therefore he was never injured. I think that he only experienced a problem when he was running, therefore couldn't do much training.

Its very similar to the way Given left, and IIRC Milner

I seriously can't believe a £35 million pound bid has been rejected, everything about football nowadays is just madness!

Wondered when this would start. Don't agree with it, but can understand why they'd accept £35m. You'll struggle to find many chairmen that wouldn't. @ CMcQ Why support a club with no ambition, one which sells its own players and treats its fans and managers like s***? And why laugh at me for pointing out that that is difficult? Go support City then. Guess, you didn't support or know about what selling your best players did in the 80's then. Pushed us to the brink of the 3rd tier of English football. Eh? I'll be supporting Newcastle long after Carroll retires. Can't stand muppets talking about giving up on the club because we've been offered an incredible fee for a striker. Wondered when this would start. "We're selling our best players, but f*** me, that's a lot of McFlurries. SELL!" This is Newcastle United. We're not some team of village idiots. We're supposedly a Premiership football team that wants to get back into Europe. This is the wrong decision, at the wrong time. Too many fair weather supporters these days. Bollocks total bollocks. It's fans like you criticising others, who are f***ing wankers in it all. I'm criticising a fan who is going to stop supporting the club cos of the sale of one player. Too right I am. Bollocks to you as well. It's not this decision, it's the countless decisions that Mike Ashley has done wish is pushing the fans over the edge. It's fairweather fans like yourself that are prepared to DO f*** ALL while the club is being ripped apart again who don't deserve the club to be successful. Ripped apart? We have APPARENTLY accepted a £35 million pound bid, for someone with 4 months Premier League experience for the 5th highest ever fee! Who would reject that? We are pretty much safe this year. It's gutting.. very bad timing, but at THAT price you would struggle to find any chairmen that wouldnt accept it. I'm just being realistic, you on the other hand.. knee-jerk your way from thread to thread.

It's £35 million for a player who has only been a first team player for a little over a year, can anyone think of another player who was sold for so much.. with so little top-level experience?

£35 million is ridiculous, especially when you consider that this time last year there were a fair few on here who wanted him shipped off to Leeds - in exchange for Jermaine Beckford.
-
Should have waited until Man City give up on Dzeko in 6 months time... booo
-
If it is true, Ashley was obviously entertaining bids otherwise Spurs and Liverpool just wouldn't waste the time of their legal team, preparing bids that would be knocked back. There has obviously been encouragement from someone at NUFC! Someone out of Ashley or Carroll, was talking to these clubs.
-
What are they supposed to do?
-
We can, Nolan isn't a better player than Ireland. Isn't he?? going off what? When he was a passenger in almost half of the games last year in the Championship
