Woah.. I did agree with all of that however we are a long, long way from being top 5 side. This is still, for the most part, the team that had got us relegated after all.

Probably the only way Ashley would consider leaving now, if we drop down again IMO he won't pump more money into us. When we go down in May, the asset stripping will be in full swing. There'll be a firesale of epic proportions. Very likely, but it makes Ashleys job of trying to run us profitably highly unlikely. May make him consider washing his hands of us, and walk away trying to recoup what he can.

Prospective buyers might not be biting anymore because they think the club's going smoothly and he doesn't want to sell, so bang, there goes the manager, massive fan unrest, club back in turmoil, gets some attention back on people who might want to act as saviours and give him his money. I don't think it's unjustified to give the bloke hell from day one on the basis of a rumour which has been verified from several sources. The decision is ultimately Mike's and Dereks, they have decided to appoint a pal rather then the best man for the job. The anger should be focused on those individuals. Not a guy, who simply was looking for work and some cretin of an owner offerred it him.

its not his fault he has been appointed It's Mikes and Dereks. Pure and simply. He is just another manager looking for work, and someone offerred him an opportunity. There shouldn't be so much unjustified hate based on rumours that he might have been touted while Chris was here.

If the rumours are to be believed he was talking to Ashley about the as early as 2 weeks ago, since he's mates with him. Anybody who goes behind a fellow proffesional's back and is pals with Ashley deserves their bollocks chopped (he could probably do with this actually). Aye, but like you said they are rumours.. if this goes ahead the blame lies squarely on Ashley and Dereks door, they had the opportunity to choose their next manager - and they would rather not get the best man for the job but instead appoint their pal.
