Got the last result only after Tonali got onto the pitch. The reason that all these 'stats' are meaningless.

Just because Howe has made 70 minute tactical substitutions for an injury prone Willock in the last two games doesn't mean Tonali and Longstaff aren't directly competing for a place in the starting line-up.

Tonali and Longstaff are currently competing for the same position within the team. I don't see why we can't discuss the merits of them directly against each other. It's probably the most contentious topic for line-up discussions. Some terrible use of stats to justify opinions as other's have said.

Hard to lose the ball when everything is going backwards

If we’re talking about FFP then it’s how much another club is actually willing to pay for our players. I doubt we would get an offer of much more than £40m + add one for Joelinton. I don’t think he’s a player that suits teams with more standard setup/formations.

Nobody is paying anywhere near those fees for Willock, Murphy or Targett

I wish they would put more games on YouTube. I know this is at St James’ but other clubs manage to put their league games on. Would be interesting if we keep investing in exciting prospects like Harrison

As good as he’s been this second half of the season his weakness is when balls are played in behind him. This risk has been reduced since Dubravka came in and we’ve had to drop deeper accordingly. The real test for him will be when Pope is back and we start playing a higher line

Have we signed Adelusi or is he on trial, looks like he was released by Spurs? Also looked like we had a new keeper Noah Kailen who was with Arsenal previously, maybe a similar situation?

The only information I've seen that defines a youth player is their age. There would need to be a clear FFP limit set on the fee to class as a first teamer or more likely games played for the first team rather than for the u21/u18s

Based on all the speculation it appears this will be permanent based on our league position and not Hall’s game time. We’ve then decided/planned not to use him much this season so that we can claim he’s a youth player signing and we don’t take the hit on FFP. This was raised in a recent interview with Howe and he batted the question away without denying it. Hopefully we’ll see him feature more next season, but I’m still unsure what his best position is.

I hope we instructed all our scouts to provide him with misinformation during the supposed Scouting meeting on Friday.

Do u21 matches count as non-competitive? I assume not as Toney was able to play in them before his return. It would be good for Tonali to get a few games at the start of next season to get match fit.

That’s a very young u21 team. Assume they’ll lose and get pelters on social media

Looks like we have a strategy to move the 'older' ones on and focus on the u18-20s. I think we will see a few others move on in the summer who don't seem to be getting game time. Won't be long before any of the original u21s will be in the squad from before the takeover

He’s also 20y/o now so he needs to get his career going now. There doesn’t seem much prospect of him making it to premier league level if that’s the standard he is now.

Plenty of people calling for Anderson to be sent out on loan the previous season and this season. Howe decided to keep him here and would have used him regularly if not for injury.

Tonali seems fluent in English now and Anderson jumping around celebrating good signs!

We signed Gordon on the 29th Jan last year, people think you can have all your business complete on 1st Jan, but it's not how clubs operate these days.
