Villa have offered virtually nothing since they scored. Rudderless, shapeless, clueless with a couple of very good players sprinkled in. Long season for them. Palace look fantastic.
-
Lots of draws in the league is ok, keeps things tight and certain managers where they are too
-
There's a bit of a misplaced arrogance about them as a club I think. Don't get my wrong, they're recent acheivements are admirable, they've just become a bit annoying and their fans are twats.

Something very enjoyable about Leicester losing

Fair to say his budget is a lot smaller than most as well, Palace are great to watch, very impressive stuff

Villa forum will be a hoot tonight

Sounds like the Toon vs Charlton in 92 under Ossie
-
Brilliant from Palace, 3-1 up
-
Vieira building something at Palace, lots of good young players and experience as well, a good mix. Stevie G looks like he'd struggle to build a sand castle.
-
Harsh but on balance of play and the ridiculous offside earlier, a just scoreline
-
Villa losing, Stevie slumped in the dugout, sweet

Pen for Palace after VAR review for handball

So glad we didn't end up with Gerrard. Watching this Villa game, they've been dominated for 25 minutes straight, no adjustments made at all, miracle they're not behind. They've got some good players but tactically inept thanks to SG.
-
Bollocks, disallowed for marginal offside apparently, still 1-1
-
Brilliant goal Zaha, 1-1

Great post and info about DA @StevenSeagull and probably the best new logo and forum name too, welcome mate hope you stick around

We don't have any clue as to how much time was spent on those players. There's been so much poor reporting, blatant lies and agent-driven nonsense, sifting through all that is an pointless exercise. The Maddison bids, I don't have a good answer to those, they were a little odd. I personally try to remember where we were as recently as a year ago and where we are now. The two situations could hardly be more different. If you told me 12 months ago we'd be "fearful" of ending up with JP+ a Chelsea loan, in addition to what we've added and after finishing how we did, i'd have snapped your hands off. Perspective is a good thing man.

That's all fine but you've made many posts (not necessarily today) basically stating "we're waiting too long, our signings aren't enough to move us up, why haven't we paid what clubs want we must not have the money we thought etc". But then you say "There's no Newcastle tax, it's we're going for players who want CL football". That to me sounds like you think we're aiming too high in the first place which contradicts the point of not making enough signings of quality. Shouldn't we be aiming for those players or at least trying, even if they're a bit too ambitious for where we are? I personally think we aimed high in our targets earlier in the window (Isak, Diaby etc), quickly realized they were out of our range, and have switched targets accordingly. It is taking a while (nearly 2 months since Botman signed) but we're being smart with our money until the revenue/sponsorship catches up. I don't like going into the final week or so of the window without the attacking reinforcements we need any more than anyone else, because if anything we're less likely to get quality as clubs don't want to sell and have to replace that late. But we are where we are and we're learning all the time.

You complain we haven't made enough quality signings, then you complain that we get the reasons for not making those signings incorrect, like you're saying we're aiming too high in the first place. A complete contradiction. So which is it? I honestly think you revel in negativity

This thread is...hard work. I am happy we're substantially linked finally with a young player who appears to have the raw tools that could be polished (with real coaching he'd receive here) into something exciting. We clearly have figured out that players linked early in the summer are too expensive for our current circumstances with regards to revenue/sponsorship, combined with an ageing squad with little resale, so they're being creative and smart with the money we do have and that will change as our income grows. That's my take FWIW.

They'll be doing it his way around October time, after playing Ismael's way whenever they lose
