Who is currently staying up with Wednesday winning? Rotherham I think?
-
You're mostly right. But shit at Liverpool? Just no. He actually "inherited" a team in decline (Souness gone, he himself at the end of his career, Rush with one eye on Italy), plus Everton emerged and blew everyone away in 84/85 so that brought pressure and with probably their worst overall team of the 80's won the league in 85/86 as player manager. No small feat. He then put together (spending plenty in the process, yes) what is widely regarded as the team of that decade in 87 with Barnes, Beardsley and Aldridge absolutely destroying teams. They put 4 past us at St James and could have scored double figures. So no, not shit at Liverpool at all. The rest I agree with and I absolutely hated what he did at the Toon, dismantled a team of brilliant players with over the hill tripe.

Rotherham score, looks like only Wycombe are definitely down due to GD. Looks like they have a game in hand as well

Leeds have been rubbish
-
They'll still pinch a result 8 minutes into stoppage time
-
That Burn for Brighton is a clumsy cunt, lumbering around the pitch knacking Leeds players

and if that doesn't work, roll your fur up

Christ, I don't know how anyone can actually root for this filth. There's not a single likeable club left in this competition, they're all filthy bastard rats

A form of VAR works in the NFL because that sport exists to magnify tiny margins allied with stats. It's all wrapped up in their package with advertising and it's what the game demands. Our football, it's far too fast paced and it just doesn't work overall. Even if the decisions were correct most of the time, it wouldn't feel right, the game loses too much of it's essence.
-
No system is perfect. Before VAR, they got multiple decisions demonstrably wrong every single game which is why we ended up with this VAR shit show in the first place. Now we get slightly less decisions wrong but have to deal with micro managing every big decision and they still get them wrong often. Something in-between like a 2 challenges per game system would be open to cynicism (like challenging for pushing and shoving at a goal scored during a corner like you suggested) but at least the game isnt being micro-analyzed every single time. Dunno. No plan or system is perfect. Must say, I don't think VAR is the problem, it's the implementation and I miss the spontaneity and mayhem that the game used to be, it basically worked for a century, shouldn't have been changed. Which means i'm contradicting myself by suggesting a different change. Fuck.
-
The NFL implements this quite well with the "challenge" system where each team gets (I think) 2 challenges per game and forces an instant video review when they believe a decision is wrong. It can't be any more chaotic and poorly done than it currently is with players offside by a lug half the time.

Should have been loaned with a view to a permanent deal. If he was good enough to loan, they should have had the foresight that he'd be worth signing permanently, but we don't do planning or foresight, everything is short termism.

I doubt there are two strikers in the world that contrast much more than those two. One is powerful, direct, constantly trying to put the ball and the keeper in the net, the other a lump of jelly who can't seem to kick it accurately more than 2 yards and has all the awareness and bravery of a fucking hedgehog. Got to be the most bent deal ever.

This useless lump cost the same amount as two Wilson's...Christ

Klopp looking like an even bigger tit right now

It's honestly not worth the rise in blood pressure every single week. -

So this is going better than expected. -
Dzeko scores to make it 1-1 after Roma have had about 3% possession

Lots of nice tributes in here. Glenn wasn't born a Geordie but "became" one. He represented our club with distinction and integrity as a player and manager and always maintained an air of dignity and professionalism, more so than some who are actually from the area. You could tell he was always very proud to be associated with NUFC. RIP Glenn.

We'd be better off with the Dave Clark 5. Another useless defeat incoming, 0-3 at best, more delays until he gets the inevitable bullet weeks too late. -
This outcome is more predictable than the Sound of Music. 4m compensation for this pinhead FFS, as ridiculous today as it was 18 months ago. What an absolute waste of everyone's time, this cunt's tenure.
