  1. What's wrong with a mixture? Keeping Keegan instead of Wise and spending another £10-15m would probably have seen us qualify for Europe this year - how much will relegation cost? Bollocks. I reckon we'd be slightly better under Keegan. Before the events of the summer transfer window end unfolded, most people felt our squad (and manager) would see us finish between 5th and 10th. I (and a few others) was ridiculed for saying our squad wasn't strong enough and predicting a lower table finish.
  2. Cracking article from Neil Farrington in the Sun there..
  3. He's cracking under pressure. Not a good sign..
  4. Newcastle is doing canny well on my save (I am Blyth Spartans). League finishes: 2008/2009: 12 2009/2010: 3 2010/2011: 5 2011/2012: 8 Currently in 2013: 5 2010: winner of the FA Cup I'd settle for that..
  5. Sicko made that quote up, didn't he? To all those who say no decent manager would work for us, I think you are spectacularly wrong. The Hiddinks, Mourinho's, etc evidently won't come here, but from that level to Kinnear there are hundreds of managers throughout Europe who would jump at the chance of managing a Premiership club, especially one with such obvious potential. Our recent track record could favour a new manager as well; due to bad results and not qualifying for Europe in the last few years, expectations have been lowered massively and most fans would settle for midtable combined with signs of progress and decent football out on the pitch. Just like with scouting players, Ashley and co need to research what type and profile of manager they need for this club to achieve its potential and subsequently pull out all the stops to get that man. Giving Kinnear a contract extension on the back of no more than mediocre results and displays is just taking the easy option and will massively hurt us in the long run as our stock will fall even further (Championship). Show some guts and ambition for crying out loud.
  6. good point It is a good point but i dont see too many players coming off the back of percieved stability now that Joe Kinnear is in charge 'full time'. In fact i dont think many players will have heard of Kinnear in the first place for them to be swayed by this news. Has there been any official statement yet? the point has nothing to do with players having heard of kinnear. it could be southgate or phil brown or tony pulis or any number of managers that foreign players will not have heard of. the point is when a player hears about interest from a club they are more likely to want to sign for a permanent manager who specifically wants them to come and has a longterm role for them in his side. if a manager is trying to sign them who is due to leave in a couple of months they're more likely to be reluctant, a new man will come in and the player won't be 'theirs', they'll have no pinpointed role for them and might not even want them at all. Good point. of course if we dont pay the going rate in fees and wages then it's all bollocks cos no-one is going to sign for us! What will happen is we will not get anybody in and Butt and Kinnear will sign their contract extensions at the end of January. Dear me, just when you think it can't get any worse they pull another rabbit out of the hat..
