The Swiss really don't know how to create an atmosphere in a stadium, do they? -
Still stand by that. Even a permanently injured Dyer provides more to the team than Smith.. It was a huge mistake buying him. Get rid at all costs.

How has he not lived up to his potential exactly? He has been one of Feyenoord's better players at 19 and Feyenoord would loved to have kept him on. Out of interest ... what role did he play for Feyenoord? He seems to be quite versatile as I understand he can play as an attacking midfielder as well as a defensive midfielder, which would be great for our 4-3-3 setup. What formation did Feyenoord play this last season and what position did Sahin fill in their formation? He did play left side of midfield in a 4-3-3. He's quite technical and a bit lightweigth and obviously is not the finished product yet, but I think he shows enough promise to be a good acquisition for us if the price is right. Edit: the fees you're talking about are way too high. I think we could get him for under 5 million easily.

Feyenoord is my club in Holland so I know him fairly well. Good little player, left footed and a very good technique. Still young, but very good potential. Would be an astute buy and I think he would be available at a fairly good price because Dortmund don't seem to rate him that highly (hence the loan to Feyenoord last season). Feyenoord would love to keep him at the club but doesn't have the money.

That article says we've received 12 million Euros for Emre and have offered 12 million for Turan. We are trying to close a deal before the Euro starts. Would be good news.. surely that fee instantly marks it as bullshit? Look, I don't know how reliable this source is, just saying what it says in the article.

Hasn't he admitted since he didn't exactly mean it to turn out like it did? no idea, he also had an absolutely top class goal VS the argies i think in 2002. Yeah in France in 98 vs the argies. It's worth searching for that on youtube for the insane dutch commentator alone. Aye, he´s called Jack van Gelder. He´s the Dutch equivalent of the BBC´s radio presenter. His commentary is brilliant and because it´s radio he describes play an awful lot better than your average tele commentator. Worth turning down the volume on your television and listening to the radio. Hope we will get some more excitement of this type in the upcoming Euros!

Why, it´s possible to prefer a goal not scored by ones favourite team because of its aesthetic value surely? Anyway, there are many players I would have loved, absolutely loved to have seen play for the Toon and that I admire (the likes of Zidane and Bergkamp) so I don´t see any harm in naming their best goal as a personal favourite. Now, where it concerns goals scored AGAINST the team you support (i.e. Bergkamp vs Dabizas) it´s a slightly different matter of course..

For Holland, Babel is out of the tournament with an injury and Van Persie hasn´t played a minute in the friendlies. Luckily Robben seems to be fit and on form.
-
isn't he something like 26? Seems like you´re right. In that case I´m all for it depending on the price.

Can´t wait.. Just 6 days until it starts! Getting a bit nervous already. Have to say I feel for you English football fans. Felt horrible when Holland wasn´t there in 2002.

How old is Arteta now? Good player no doubt, but not sure if he fits the new board´s criteria.

Crouch for 8 million would be an astute buy. Expect him to be snapped up by Harry shortly..

Euro 88, Van Basten volley in the final.

Neither did Diarra..

Per month? How about per week?

A lot of people would be very happy with this. Personally, I haven´t completely given up on Duff, but if we can get 5 million from him even I would say that is pretty good business. I can´t see it happening though..

How about the man in your avatar then Raconteur. Another case of a quality player accused of being lazy, not caring enough and with a dubious fitness record. Would you be happy to see him leave to? I´d say the same as I do with Emre, not before we have contracted a better replacement.
-
Dave, would you have complimented the club if they had identified their top targets early on and got them in pronto? Just imagine we´d have signed Modric and Gomis (or any two scouted players we considered to be absolute improvements on our current lot and probably attainable to a club of our standing) for a combined 30 million as opposed to now, would you have been happy we had done our scouting, identified our targets and pulled out all the stops to get them in? I know I would have, and I fail to see how wondering what went wrong (again, remember January or the last summer window?) is whinging for f*** all. You and others can trot this line every transfer window as long as you want, but I don´t think you can claim we have been overly succesful in finding and contracting our targets these past few windows, and so far there is no reason to assume this one will be any different, besides blind faith in a new setup that is already a little shakey by the look of things that went on after the Chelsea match.. Meanwhile, clubs like Spurs and Portsmouth who are already pulling away from us have both signed two players that would have considerably improved our squad as it does their in the past six months.

To be fair, if the new owner was being asked to stump up £6m urgently for Alan Smith it would probably have been better to keep the purse strings closed. Very true.. Hard to see how he could even be on a shortlist of a self respecting Premiership manager..
