It's entirely tedious bullshit. It's alright to have that conversation but £12m or whatever they paid isn't really that much of a gamble for a 25 year old striker who scored 18 goals in 23 matches in the Mexican league and 3 in 3 in the WC. Ashley and Pardew have convinced many that £12m is a huge investment, even for Premier League clubs that are literally rolling in money. We won't pay more than about £6m on a striker. Absolutely. It really has been a lesson in propaganda and lowering expectations.
