  1. When LFC bought Andy Carroll it was never about selling him or making a profit, they genuinely thought they bought a player who'd go on to retire there, this is why the clause is so believable for me, i've never doubted it, they are that up themselves. spot on, they saw him as torrent replacement and their #9 for the next 10 years. Any sell-on fee would be of purely academic interest. This all spectacularily went to s***, but at the time its perfectly believeable. You're entitled to believe whatever you want. I just don't think Liverpool wouldn't have given a clause that was likely to cost them millions down the line more than a second thought. The fact it's only ever been reported by one source and not mentioned by Dekka who was desperate to paint this transfer in the best light possible makes me very skeptical about its existence (as a flat out 25% of next transfer fee, not profit based).
  2. I'd be very surprised if Liverpool on the other hand would have agreed to a deal including a 25% of any future transfer fee clause after already parting with a massive 35 million. That woud mean they would only ever make a profit on Carroll if they managed to sell him for upwards of 46,6 million. But then, I also fail to see why they would loan him out for the season for 2 million without a guaranteed sale at the end of it (when they're writing off nearly four times that much on the player's value during the same period). Rodgers must really not rate him at all..
  3. I don't understand this argument. If we are still owed an installment from Liverpool then if we're deducting it from any reverse transfer fee, we're effectively still paying it. The 25% sell on fee, which I don't believe exists, would in theory mean that from Liverpool's perspective they would sell to us for X-25% if X is the least they want to receive, but that's just the financial side of it, and I think Liverpool would in effect be loath of the idea of selling him back to us at a huge loss, and would much rather offload him elsewhere even if the other offer was slightly less financially attractive to them. Whatever happens next is, however, fully dependent on Carroll's wishes, not Liverpool's.
  4. Well, if true Liverpool/Rodgers have shown their hand in that they really don't feel Carroll has a future there. If they're willing to let Carroll go for a season for 2 million without the guarantee West Ham will have to conclude the deal to make it 19 million (providing they stay up), I would even say they're desperate. Cue Carroll turning West Ham down and putting Liverpool in a very akward position when we come in with a loan with view to permanent bid on deadline day.
  5. I'm sorry, but that's not our job. You can't discount the opinion of anyone that disagrees with you because we are incapable of coming up with a viable alternative. I am just confident we could do better. The club seemingly is not, seeing as they are bidding for the player. What do you make of that? The only bid we've lodged so far is loan + view to buy right? That's just playing the market carefully. A loan option can't possibly harm us but if the only option is us buying him, I think we'll have different plans Aye, and for the record I agree with them as in that would be the only type of deal that I would be interested in right now. I was merely pointing out that apparently the club feel they don't have this shortlist of fully scouted, ready to be top-class Premiership strikers for under 10 million desperate to join us. Cisse was a one-off and we played it extremely well, but we shouldn't conclude from that transfer that all our deals will be so perfect. We tried to be clever with Luuk de Jong, who was obviously first choice even though he's far from the finished article and look what type of fee he went for. What does that, and the fact we've subsequently moved in for Carroll, tell you about the availability of other strikers on our shortlist?
  6. I just stated the type of player that i'd like to see us go for, i don't have to state names because that isn't my job. All i want is a forward who can play wide so we can stick to 4-2-3-1/4-3-3. Carroll can only play 1 position. I have never been against Carroll's ability as a player and what he can bring i'm against his attitude, his tactical versatility and his price. But because my opinion is different, i'm a football manager freak and a foreigner who has no right to give his opinion on the team he has supported since he was 4 years old. Tbf, if you've only been supporting us for 10 years, you should be able to remember how good Carroll was. Try 18 years smart arse Plus of course i remember how good Carroll was, but i'm convinced that Carroll cant be replicated on a regular basis. Carroll was the go to guy in that team and everything was built for him, now he would just be another player and i'm not sure he could perform to the same level in such a scenario. Anyway i have said many times why i dont want Carroll and its not for ability reasons. It's for tactical, attitude and financial reasons. Another much used argument that is a red herring. Carroll wasn't even our first striker at the start of that Championship season, so how exactly "the team was built around him" I'll never know.

  8. You're all in denial. The lad wants to come home. One day, after he has eclipsed Shearer's Premiership goal record in our black and white shirt he will confess in his memoirs that it was all one big cunning Mike Ashley plan. The 35 million move, the disappointing performances in the red shirt of Lolerpool, getting Dogleash sacked in the process, refusing to go anywhere else but us, leaving Lolerpool no choice but to sell him back for 3.5 mill to get his wages of the books, and the subsequent re-emergence of the prodigal son. 443 goals in 12 seasons at Newcastle and a complete Premiership and Champions League winning team bought from the proceeds of his transfer, who'd have thought it possible..?

I take it you're not familiar with SRS' brilliant work..?
  10. Even if he is, that's exactly what it'll be, so I'm just getting my criticism in early.
