I was contemplating doing this, but it appears they haven't bothered to update their database with all the latest transfers for this weekend, so I think I may wait till next week to see how the new players in the league settle too. Tough decision though.. They've only updated with players registered to play. Its why I wanted to hang fire till next week but my team had the Chelsea 3, and two doubtfuls, also anyone who hasn't got rvp as captain for the next 4 weeks is crazy with rooney being out. Ah, that'll explain it. I'm afraid not playing my wildcard this week may cost me dearly, but I needed more time to assess my options. -
I don't know how long a drive Hull is, but was just throwing it out there for those that might fancy combining the trip with a visit to Amsterdam.

It's easy to forget we got him for next to nothing and he has been a good servant to the club, growing in stature as the club did and helping the club through some of its darkest days. It may be right that his true level is mid table Premiership, and we should have ideally got an upgrade in this window past, but there's no justification for all the Simpson vitriol on here sometimes.

Visiting Amsterdam and driving doesnt sound like a plan mind Fair point. About 5 hours by public transport. No direct trains? Sure someone said that was about 3 hours yesterday All the options I can find on the Dutch public transport site from Amsterdam to Brugge on a Thursday afternoon (https://9292.nl/en/journeyadvice/station-amsterdam-centraal/brugge-be/arrival/2012-09-20T1659/2) are showing multiple changes and even the occasional ferry.

Nah, definitely want them to achieve another mauling today.

Another travel option would be to take the ferry at North Shields. Ijmuiden to Brugge is about 3 hours by car, plus you get to visit Amsterdam.
-
Brugge is a very nice place to visit too. I may travel down if I manage to get a ticket.
-
Aye, think he is. Wasn't even in the squad mid week was he?
-
There's no way in the world Pardew will replace Simpson with Perch in the first team. Pointless even contemplating it.

The irony is that the cynical people (I was one of them not so long ago) are proven right again and again at the end of the transfer window. On the pitch, where it really matters, we've outdone ourselves the last few seasons however. Here's hoping it continues! We shouldn't be thought of, by anyone, as "outdoing ourselves". As a club we are well capable of achieving consistent success, without "outdoing" ourselves !!!!!! Surely! Then, we can kick-on to the next level. Oops . . . that is what we were meant to start doing in the summer transfer window, oh well! I'm sorry, but if you think our record breaking Championship season and finishing in the top 5 against all odds were par for the course it makes me wonder where you have been in the last decade. We've experienced our fair share of lows, nowt wrong with saying these were highpoints where we did better than anybody could have expected.

Most of us would have said the same about Perch this time last year tbf.

Erm..

On the pitch, where it really matters, we've outdone ourselves the last few seasons however. Here's hoping it continues! We've arguably exceeded expectations in our last 2 seasons (3 if you think some people didn't think we'd come straight back up from the Championship), so how have they been proven right? Proven right insofar that people who are pessimistic during the transfer window and get told by the "at least wait until the end of the window" brigade to hold their horses are proven right to be cynical of our transfer business when the window eventually shuts. I don't remember the last time I felt great at the end of a transfer window. Of course, as I said, where it matters, i.e. on the pitch, we've done really well in the last few seasons. Not sure why you're arguing, have a feeling you knew exactly what I meant.
-
Oh, and the silver lining to all these additional matches and a squad that's weak in numbers at the back and up top is the fact that we'll see much more of our younger development players this season, which is something to look forward to even if it means we may suffer some early cup heartbreak. Edit: what TT said Edit: he forgot young Shane Ferguson too
