Thought he was brilliant in the Arsenal home leg but his performances have definitely dipped a bit. I thought it would happen sooner tbh; was worried he might burn out a bit after playing football constantly since he signed. He has these dips though, then picks up again. It wasn't that long ago that we were all crowing about how he'd been unleashed thanks to Sandro, whose drop-off recently has definitely been more stark. Hope that spell of his wasn't a flash in the pan; still has an awful lot to prove here.

Too right. The first thing to blame should always be PSR. It's grimly predictable that our season could, yet again, hinge on the goalkeeper. We identified that as an area to upgrade but we couldn't.

It's just being real. The priority at that point is to not let the game get away from you. We were actually doing a pretty good job of that for an hour, having lots of the ball, defending pretty strongly, and keeping them in their own half for short spells. They obviously didn't mind that either because, if you're them, you probably expect to get a chance. Maybe we could've gambled on a Barnes or Osula at that point, but being conservative - with a view to a possible late show - was a perfectly sensible approach too. Then we gave the ball away and let them score and the heads dropped/meek surrender/disgrace [delete as applicable].

It's a pretty meaningless stat in the context of the game. As soon as the first goal goes in it's all about just staying in the game as long as possible. Maybe we should've surrendered possession with some hopeful digs from range just to avoid the zero against SOT.

What?

Agree with that!

We losing our minds over a 2-0 after all, then? Could give a shit, frankly. If Isak's in the side or if we don't randomly gift them that second goal out of nowhere, we might steal a goal - if not a point. Game ended at 0-2. Everyone knew it.

Usual suspects desperate to criticise at any opportunity. Very little wrong from the manager's point of view tonight. Liverpool's subs/our lack of didn't make Tonali give it away in a dangerous position.
-
Pretty clear that the gameplan was to keep it to one and then go for it late on. That was going to plan until we decided to just pass it to them loads and then not defend.
-
Harsh laying into the manager for no subs. We were getting control of the game and then some randomly terrible play gifted them a goal.
-
Seen this so many times away from home at the likes of these and City. One goal behind but right in the game, then a moment of slackness and there's the suckerpunch. What a waste of time this fixture is.

Absolutely terrible from Tonali

Urgh, nice one, lads.

Tino's party trick of coming inside and giving it away is driving me up the fecking wall like
-
Important spell for us this. Need to force a chance before they get a grip.
-
God is there anything more deflating than a shit free kick in a great position?
-
Go on, lads, surprise us

Yeah. Joelinton hasn't been great this season so don't want to do the cliche thing and overegg a missing player, but we do miss his physicality a lot of the time. He was excellent here last season too. Or the season before maybe, can't remember which.

Two teams prepared to play on the break is making for a fairly tepid affair with no one really taking the initiative. Very dull game. We're obviously going to lose, just hope we keep the score down.
-
Sigh, never looked like scoring there

Diaz is so annoyingly brilliant

Nice to see Rafa. Anyone who doesn't like him is a knob and can fight me.

Best game for him to miss. Hopefully just tonight.

Right now - which I assume is what we're basing our votes on - he's a C, but if he can get fit and firing then he should hit B standard no problem
-
okay, I'll admit it lacks nuance as an assessment. I'm definitely not sold on him though; he's in the Willock camp for me whereby if we cashed in I wouldn't be devastated.
