Pre-tournament friendlies are rarely different to the mid-season ones. They're almost always rubbish. Germany losing at home to Greece n'all.
  2. I've been convinced that he will ever since he went straight in against Brazil. He fits straight in, no problem.

Agree Makes sense Why God why
  4. Seeing as the manufacturers don't appear to know, does anyone know how the badge actually appears on this item?
  5. I mean I don't think putting them side by side really helps the new kit. I suppose sela looks marginally better than ntl:
  6. The buzz around it is pretty exciting, like, and it definitely feels 'right' to see us wearing Adidas. Their base design (I.e. the three stripes) just works with us, for obvious reasons. I'm relieved at what they've done with the home kit, too. Masking the fangs by having them blend in with the black stripes and shorts makes it look very clean. Ultimately it's just a worse version of the 2001-03 kit and the plain back is a guarantee that I'll never exchange any money for it; but as far as modern kits go, I think they've done a decent job with it. Keeper kit is very disappointing but then again I had no expectations there; they're a total after-thought these days. Looking forward to seeing the rest.
  7. That is so much tidier than the women's shirt.
  8. Hadn't spotted that - good news.
  9. State of this doesn't appear on Sandro, mind.
  10. Agree that the video was cool, loved Isak with the doberman. Home kit looks promising; seem to have hidden the fangs somewhat by making them black, which is a good thing cos they're mostly fucking stupid. Training clobber is pretty uninteresting imo

Round and round we go. Disappointed with the outcome. Dunno why I got my hopes up.
  13. Thanks very much to everyone who's chipped in.
  14. Did a brilliant job at York City before he was idiotically and unceremoniously jettisoned for absolutely no reason by the outgoing Chairman.
  15. Even if none of the leaks are totally accurate, I feel there's very little mystery left here. Everyone has the same template so we know what it looks like.

It's a truly shit celebration. I think it's because he's very much not cool, just come across like a snotty little charver who can't talk like a grown-up. Great player, mind. Wish we'd got him instead of Barnes, who I do really like.
  17. Your subscription will/should have been canceled...
  18. that's from months and months ago.
  19. I do get that; we're so far gone that doing it Man City's way is the only way, so removing that capacity (in addition to PSR) keeps us locked into the status quo. I guess for me it's a case of, if Man City's way is the only way, I'd rather not play. Quite happy seeing us do everything we can to defy the odds, as we did in 22/23 and on occasion in 23/24.
  20. Of course, I think I acknowledged that. But I think it's been a factor, not the factor. There's wealthy businessmen who've injected their own personal capital into their favourite football team and then there's oligarchs and gulf states with literally unlimited resources. I don't think anyone felt there was much of a need for FMV when Jack Walker came along.
  21. Fair market value rules are a good thing and I hope they prevail. I agree with the existence of a rule which fundamentally prevents clubs from artificially inflating their wealth to obscene levels, by virtue of something totally unrelated to that club. I look at Man City, Chelsea and PSG and see basically nothing in those case studies that I really love about football. They are soulless, manufactured superclubs - brands, commercial entities - defined by the wealth of their owners. I certainly could never, ever want that for us. I accept that some clubs will always be richer than others and those ones will probably be fighting for honours whenever May comes around. But I'd like to believe that there's a version of football where clubs can achieve great things by playing to their strengths; cultivating revenue opportunities by matching competency with ambition; and growing organically by investing relatively, effectively, with at least some risk attached. 'Winner = the richest owner' is a very, very boring game. PSR is the thing that truly needs revising. It's been said a thousand times but that's the drawbridge. "My sugar daddy isn't allowed to spend 1 zillion pounds on a left-back" is not a drawbridge.
  22. I think we could release a shirt with lemonparty on it and some of you merch fiends would be salivating providing that it also featured the right logos.

Really hope Gordon gets an opportunity against Iceland because he should be starting for me. Palmer is a silky player and a technician but England would have to work hard to accommodate another player like that imo, as opposed to him slotting in seamlessly. He's similar in style to Foden and Eze in that all of them don't have a rigid position, but only Foden can take that fluid role in the lineup. But Gordon is just sheer energy and tenacity up and down the wing - in attack and defence. He's far more orthodox and made for international football where there's arguably less room for mavericks.

Always good to win. Just a very typical affair, really. There's two objectives with pre-tournament friendlies: provide an opportunity to the fringe players and boost morale by winning. It's rarely going to be pretty. We put two goals (total) past Romania and Austria before the last Euros which we went on to reach the final of.
