Really looking forward to this Juve-Gala game.

No chance. He was a 1 in 3 then 1 in 2 attacker in the PL. £30m got you Guessand and Barry.

I've been a critic of Woltemade but I thought he was excellent in the midfield role in Baku and particularly at Villa in the cup. I'm not sure last night provides compelling evidence that he's completely unsuited; it's a new role for him and it was a bit of a weird game. As for the implications of us spending a lot on a striker only for him not to play as one, I'm not really arsed. Attacking midfielders and strikers are both component parts of the attacking unit, so if he's delivering good performances, I don't think it really matters. I'd sooner see him converted into a position where he's really useful than cut our losses.

Good God lads. Not everything about the summer has to be viewed with such disdain. We needed a backup goalie and that's what he is. Even they cost money, unfortunately. We could easily have ended up with someone worse for that position. He's a bit rubbish but he isn't Dubravka 23/24 bad. Done fine in the cups and made the difference in Round 3 especially.

It doesn't work like that; the Isak sale still gives us loads of capacity. It's all amortisation n that (fuck knows). But it's not like we had money in our wallet and then straight out again on those two.

Eight wins in a row with an aggregate score of 25-4. They're absolutely flying and the number of goals they score is ludicrous. Rochdale have drawn three of their last four which has let us in and Carlisle well out of it. 2up has to happen.

Chelsea pros -- They're the worst of the two, so probably gives us our best chance -- It would be immensely satisfying to beat them -- I want all other PL teams to fail as soon as possible Chelsea cons -- Doesn't feel like a European game -- Would be absolutely miserable to get knocked out at Stamford Bridge -- It's a boring as fuck tie and we'd have to play them three times in a week Barcelona pros -- Feels like a proper European tie -- We owe them one for that earlier defeat Barcelona cons -- They'll probably do us Dunno, tough one. Probably just prefer it to be Chelsea.

Popped into the thread in the second half, first post I saw was that we were really unprofessional. Shame, wonder what we could've achieved with some professionalism. Kinda game I expected really, especially after we added to the aggregate score so early. It was important to carry on the winning feeling and we did. Lovely stuff.

Not that there's any actual evidence of this. (I know you weren't saying that there is)

We need to demonstrate to talented young players that they can achieve their international aspirations with us. It's an entirely fair question, just stained by the tabloid presentation.

If TBG snaring people in his patter was food to him, he'd be even fatter than Wissa.

Honestly not sure I've felt worse watching us. Probably going back to Sporting Lisbon.
-
They bought three of most coveted attacking players around and recently ditched their shite manager who was holding them back. I don't think you can really beat us with that stick; they've lost the same amount of games as the team who are probably gonna end up with the title. It shows how shite we've been that we lost and were terrible against Brentford (twice), West Ham and the mackems.

The problem is that every available player is getting a lot of minutes atm because of the number of injuries and the number of games. There's no first-teamers waiting in the wings for an opportunity except Osula and arguably Ramsdale. If Botman still isn't available, for instance, what choice do we have other than to play Thiaw and Burn again? The only options as I see it are: in goal; at left-back (because Alex Murphy has played before and it's theoretically easier to chaperone an inexperienced player there); and up front; with Osula surely guaranteed a start. Every other position needs to be occupied by one of the regular players. Trippier will surely get a rest but it'll be Jacob Murphy who deputises. The saving will hopefully be in the reduced preparation and matchday intensity, and the ability to make plenty of subs.

Only kid I'd start is Alex Murphy at LB. I wouldn't expect the manager to throw in the likes of Neave, Park and Shahar from the start, given they've played 15 minutes of first team football been them. It's still a Champions League game and I expect him to respect it. Hopefully there's an opportunity for them in the second half, maybe even a full half for Neave. Ramsdale Murphy - Thiaw - Botman - Murphy Joelinton - Miley - Ramsey Osula - Wissa - Gordon If Miley and Botman still aren't ready then we're gonna have to just keep flogging Tonali and Burn I guess. Absolute state of the squad.

Blows your mind the athletic capacity of these people. The guy has just recovered from a pneumothorax, played three games in eight days, traveled 5000 miles and still gone toe-to-toe with one of the most physically terrifying strikers on Earth. The guy is an Adonis.
