  1. from a Spanish footy forum regarding Jonas Gutierrez A very fast player, excellent technically and has good crosses most of the time, can play both as a winger and as a wingback. He's also featured in Argentinas NT lately where he's done a decent job, definitely a classy signing
  2. not particularly convinced by him tbh.
  3. He didn`t really get given many chances did he......7 appearances mostly as sub and he scored 1 goal. He was only a young kid at 19 coming from Paraguay so it was always going to take some time to settle and adjust but he was shipped out on loan so not really had the chance to make any impact
  4. According to the Times he`s only on 35k week which is quite low compared to many players I can think of. Obviously the Times might be pulling these numbers from thin air (most likely) but if it`s true it seems we might have a very good deal overall and would fit into the policy of not paying over the top wages http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/article4258468.ece
  5. Most Argies sport the mullet/long hair look....don`t know why loads of them are stuck in the 80`s
  6. very harsh to say Acuna was a failure. Very underrated player that chipped in with important goals, didn`t complain and tbh I don`t remember him having a particularly bad game Newcastle United's new Argentine winger Jonas Gutierrez joins a list of South Americans to have made the switch to Tyneside. Argentines, Brazilians, Columbians, Chileans, Peruvians and Paraguayans have all pulled on the black and white jersey, admittedly with differing results. 8. Got some more opinions of him from an Argie forum Opinion 1; I have only seen him play for Argentina and not his club. But when he has played for Argentina he has been good. He has good pace, has a good technique and works hard. He has actually all the attributes to be a success in EPL. I think he is a good signing for you guys. Pace with a good tecnique is the ingridients to be a success in EPL, and this guy has this ingridents Opinion 2: 5 years deal for him and Newcastle, interesting move. Good luck to "el galgo". Although that for the national team he has played as a left midfielder i think he feels more comfortable playing on the right, at least in Vélez it used to be that way, haven't seen him much at Mallorca. In fact today a couple of years after he left Argentina, Vélez couldn't find a proper replacement for him. 9. can`t think of many other players who have exercised that right Webster (obviously), Gutierrez and Paulo Assunçao. Any others?
  10. how many of you have actually seen him play? bar youtube clips

  12. Asked some opinions about him on a Spanish footy forum and got this. Opinion 1 Decent signing. Winger who despite lacking a lot tactically and technically, makes up for it through pure speed and enthusiasm. Opinion 2 .Tenacious and hard working wide midfielder. Right footed but can also play on the left if needed. Thinks he's Spiderman.
  13. Swapping the Mallorca sunshine for cloudy Newcastle will be take some getting used to Btw, somebody made a comment on one of the youtube vids that the way he runs is ginola-esque. I sort of agree with that judging by the limited footage around. Hopefully he`ll have as big a impact (hopefully more than 6 months )
  14. talk about of the blue......not a sniff of speculation linking us to him before and we go and sign him. I know it`s frustrating when we think nowts happening but when we make signings like this it makes it all the better. I for one am glad there were no rumours about us signing him before as I`m sure other clubs would have jumped in ahead of us
  15. Everton boss David Moyes may swoop for Real Zaragoza's £7m-rated Argentine star Pablo Aimar - once his summer spending budget is finally confirmed. (The Sun)
  16. Stan Collymore. Had everything, pace, power, technique etc.....really a wasted talent IMO
  17. Well made up. You should be a journalist. I think he`s wide of the mark too
  18. don`t know if we ever were really interested in him but Real have not taken their option up on him so they wouldnt be able to sell him for their ridiculous sell on fee (proposed at the time) http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=758599
  19. as much as I`d like it to be true I doubt it will happen....I would go for Zarate ahead of Aimar if I had the choice......but right now I`d be happy with either given the way things are going "On Saturday I will be in Rome to sign the contract and for medical visits," said the former Birmingham City forward. "Many Argentines have worn the shirt of Lazio. I'm happy to be going to Rome. "I know the Biancocelesti fans are waiting for me, I hope to have a really good championship."
  20. nope....did not shoot anyone according to the article he has a small recreational ranch, paso-fino horses near a Sugar Mill Processing plant, he has to go thru a security ck point to get to his property every time he visits. It seems he was intoxicated- alcohol and along with friends try to bully his way into his ranch, by waiving a gun and shooting several times (32) some security barricade set by a private security firm (they sue him in a court of Law)....then he decided to use his car as a weapon too, and broke the bar set to stop cars......
  21. Lazio on the verge of signing Mauro Zarate Wish we could`ve made a attempt to sign him.
  22. Calvin Zola now at Crewe Alexandra With a name like that I thought he was gonna turn out to be class!! ah well
