  1. somebody on here claimed they had the fixtures yesterday....how accurate were they then?
  2. Why are we scouting PSG? They have a lot of very poor players and we`ve been linked with more PSG players than other teams`....surely if we`re looking for good quality players we should be looking at teams at least on the top half of the table....not ones that scrape past relegation on the last day. I know we`ve been linked with the likes of Gomis but PSG seem a favourite of ours both in the past and present
  3. Fazackerley has left Man City....could see KK getting him back here
  4. haven`t watched Croatia`s games in the Euro`s yet but I remember Darjo Srna in previous tournaments and for Shaktar Donestk being a very capable player both right wing and right back......would be a useful addition IMO. Superb right foot and free kick taker
  5. What does "leading the chase" mean in this context. There is no way on God's green earth he would consider coming here.. You have to laugh.. there is no way on God`s green earth that most people thought he`d end up signing for Hamburg! I`m not holding my breath like anyway
  6. Porto readmitted http://football.uk.reuters.com/european/news/L138546.php?rpc=401&
  7. EX-PREMIER League referee Graham Poll reckons he could have saved Ruud Gullit's Newcastle United career. The Dutchman was sacked by former Toon Chairman Freddie Shepherd after United's disastrous 2-1 defeat to arch-rivals Sunderland - a game played in torrential rain. The match is best remembered for Gullit's decision to leave local hero Alan Shearer and big-name partner Duncan Ferguson on the bench for much of the match and start with teenage striker Paul Robinson leading the line for the Magpies. But the ref on that famous night, Graham Poll, has admitted he would have abandoned the game which ultimately cost Gullit his job as Newcastle boss, had he been asked Kieron Dyer put the Magpies in front, but goals from Niall Quinn and Kevin Phillips won the night for the Sunderland and the Dutchman's reign ended within days. Writing about the conditions of last night's Euro 2008 clash between Switzerland and Turkey in Basle in his Daily Mail column, Poll revealed he would have taken the teams off if requested. He said: "I refereed a derby game at Newcastle against Sunderland in similar conditions - the one when Ruud Gullit left Alan Shearer on the bench until late in the game - and I would have abandoned it if any of the players had asked me to. They didn't." Gullit left the club after just a year in charge the following weekend and was replaced by Sir Bobby Robson. http://www.shieldsgazette.com/safc/I-could-have-saved-Ruud.4180746.jp
  8. Solano for manager FORMER Newcastle United favourite Nobby Solano has revealed that he was "shocked and disappointed" to be shown the door by West Ham United. And while he admits to looking for a new club in England he knows that he will not be coming back to St James’s Park. Hammers boss Alan Curbishley has released Solano but the former United man is still very much involved for his country. Indeed, he rang me from Chicago this week where Peru were beaten 4-0 by Mexico in a friendly on Sunday night. He is now back in Peru preparing for the World Cup qualifiers with Colombia in Lima on Saturday and Uruguay in Montevideo on Tuesday night. And he told me: “When the West Ham manager spoke to me and said that he was allowing me to go I was shocked and disappointed. “I think the reason he has let me go is that he has plenty of other players at Upton Park who can play on the right, like my former Newcastle colleagues Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer. “So now I am looking for another club and I hope to stay in England for another two years, and after that I will return to Peru. “Everybody knows what I feel about Newcastle and those fans, but it would be difficult me to ever return there. “The reason I was forced to leave Newcastle was because of family reasons and this situation has not changed. “But one day I might be back at Newcastle – as manager!” Meanwhile, Solano is backing United’s current manager Kevin Keegan to bring the good times back to St James’s Park. He added: “If there is one man who can turn things round at St James’s then it is Kevin Keegan.” http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2008/06/12/nobby-rules-out-emotional-united-return-72703-21062670/
  9. aye him and Hartson kept West Ham in the EPL that time
  10. Kitson vs Cole `who`s the best`
  11. http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcastleunited/sundaysun/tm_headline=no-bids-in-yet-for-united-striker-ameobi%26method=full%26objectid=21047791%26siteid=61634-name_page.html Today's Chronicle http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcastleunited/sundaysun/tm_headline=d-day-for-barton%26method=full%26objectid=21049341%26siteid=72703-name_page.html Now someone is lying they always contradict each other......aren`t the 2 papers in the same building or something too?
  12. according to fans on the Lazio forums they say we got our money back...perhaps more by the sounds of it 3,6 million euro to be paid in three years. 1,5 million euro was already paid for the loan, so the overall price is 5,1 million euro.
  13. Mackems linked with Paulo Assuncao today. If there is any truth in that rumour we should surely try for him. Although I highly doubt he`d buy out his contract at Porto to move to the inbreds down the road
  14. anyone rate Chris Samba of Blackburn?.....seen him a couple times and he`s a big ba$tard of a defender. With Blackburn managerless it might be worth a punt. Apparently 3.5m would be enough. Not world class by all means but he`d be an extra body that we need and for 3.5m for a very solid player, very well worth it IMO
  15. Was in one of the papers yesterday that the smoggies will sign him for 4.5m
  16. Roeder seems to rate Ameobi highly. Do they have the money?
  17. Chelsea are preparing a £24m bid for him if papers are to be believed. go for Lucho Gonzalez instead (I wish)
  18. check out the clip `MARADONA Peruano - Roberto Merino` Some skill that fella has
  19. nah he`ll want to `stay and fight for his place`
  20. I don`t understand some of their thinking tbh.........KK has said he would not really consider buying players direct from the top tier South American leagues but would consider someone from the Spanish 2nd division where the quality IMO is far more inferior (I know this story is just speculation though) As for the player....not heard of him but I do agree with the sentiment that we could do with some South American flair.
  21. just looked at Lukas Podolski`s goal record for Germany - 27 goals in 49 games (add 2 more if Wikipedia has not been updated?).....and he`s still only 24. Phonomenal record. Shearer didn`t manage that until he was 30 plus!
  22. Bellamy and Kluivert did very well as a striking partnership too (until Shearer walked back in the team)
  23. If they do get one I hope they give all the proceeds to charity as Al did. The footballers these days hardly need the money especially EPL ones whether they have been on the bench for most of the career or not
