  1. who is this Esteban Cardona? some Argentine wonderkid we have ? -- Young Magpies' Five-Star Show Newcastle's under-15s Academy side have made a blistering start to the prestigious Manchester United Premier Cup, which got underway today. Vince Hutton's youngsters beat French side Paris St-Germain in their opening game at The Red Devils' Carrington training complex this morning, before thrashing Malaysian outfit Shillong Lajong 5-0 in their second game. Mark Brereton, Liam Smith (pen), Esteban Cardona, Adam Campbell and Tom Heardman were on target And against PSG, Smith and Campbell were the scorers in a game where Newcastle could have had more goals but also had goalkeeper Aiden Grant to thank for a penalty save.
  2. maybe posted a while back but Nery Castillo signed for Chicago Fire in the MLS....he cost 20m euro just a few seasons ago when he eft Olympiakos.
  3. Hughton "Xisco has been good in pre-season. We have six strikers who have all been fit in pre-season so it's been a case of shifting them around to give them the minutes they need. "The difficulty for him is he's playing in a position where we have a lot of options. All he can do is to force the decision. He can put himself in a position to perform and train well. "I suppose it's a little bit like Leon Best when he came in January with Andy Carroll and Peter Lovenkrands scoring goals for fun. It made it difficult for him to get the minutes on the pitch. "Xisco played more regularly back in Spain last season, now he must continue to do well in pre-season and force the issue." Xisco has also been shunted wide to get his chance. Hughton added: “It is an unfamiliar position for Xisco on the left. “We want to make sure we make the most of him. “The difficulty for him is he is playing in a position where we have a lot of options. All he can do is to force the decision. He is older now. When he came in it was a difficult period for him. “Sometimes coming here with other strikers in front of you, you don’t get a real rhythm.”
  4. Javier Garrido signed for Lazio for 1.8m......Not a top player by all means but very decent for that price.
  5. Julio Grondona (the Argentine FA President since 1979) has never fired a national team manager so I`m surprised to hear this.....especially sacking a national icon of all people. Edit: just noticed Maradona`s contract was up anyway and was `not renewed` simply. Technically `not sacked`(?)
  6. Is he any good? i really want balotelli in england, he's f***ing hilarious. anyone see when he came on late for a inter in the champions league, cant remember who they were playing. he had a shot from 45 yards and narrowly missed the corner flag, the crowd started jeering him and he just stood in the centre circle giving the whole crowd the v's while the game continued around him. the v`s don`t mean anything in Italy so I doubt they noticed he was trying to offend then
  7. Sunderland fans will tell you he's better than jonas despite never seeing him play and probably not knowing what position he plays. who is he? ^ Marcos Angeleri, right back and sadly a very good player that only cost 1.5m
  8. Steve Bruce hails Titus Bramble as his best ever buy http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/sunderland-afc/safc-news/2010/07/25/steve-bruce-hails-titus-bramble-as-his-best-ever-buy-79310-26924930/?
  9. I’ve got to push myself – Titus http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/sunderland-afc/safc-news/2010/07/24/i-ve-got-to-push-myself-titus-72703-26922006/?
  10. A load? Angelera and Riveros.......who else? Poor comparison with us too given Bruce has had greater succuss in that area than most. I know he signed for them last season but I am a bit surprised their other Paraguayan, Paolo Da Silva has barely had a look in for them. Very experienced and he looked extremely solid captaining Paraguay during the world cup. Overall though Bruce has been realtively successful when dealing in the central/south American market when you look at his signings for Wigan (Figueroa/Palacios/Rodallega etc)
  11. Mackems - are they just a terrible genetic accident? http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=44453100403&ref=search
  12. Just a different way of supporting our teams. Players from abroad often say our (English) fans are more passionate than others. We go support our clubs and atmospheres invariably depend on this, while foreign fans go to support their club their atmospheres are more constant and often about getting one upmanship on having better displays than rival fans for example. Just because you have a few flares doesn't make you care more. Using that top video as an example it was the Aris fan's proving to the Boca fans that they are their equal in creating an intimidating atmosphere etc. Disco, you watched Boca in La Bombanera, right? How was it there? btw, this canny interesting regarding Arg....pity Danny Dyer didn`t get his head kicked in but he was $hit scared
  13. http://www.tribalfootball.com/velez-sarsfield-defender-otamendi-excited-newcastle-interest-993321 Oh, tribalfootball. Probs why then. But cheers. http://www.clarin.com/deportes/futbol/Newcastle-ingles-vino-carga-Otamendi_0_302369879.html
  14. yeah good signing that for 1.5m
  15. couldn`t give a $hit tbh. anyone publicly not backed him out of interest? Shola? ah , you said pubilcly Has Supermac said anything? Usually he spouts some nonsense
  16. Shearer's backing for United's new No9 http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/Shearer39s-backing-for-United39s-new.6437143.jp? couldn`t give a $hit tbh.
  17. watched a few games in Europe, Paris SG, Frankfurt, Roma and 1 or 2 others (even Urawa Reds, Japan and in Korea).....and the atmospheres have been cracking in most instances. Maybe a bit mental with the firecrackers, flares but that`s all part of it. I don`t buy into all this "Premier League has the best atmosphere in the world". Absolute tosh. The atmospheres in the prem league are pretty boring in comparison tbh. The Greeks and Turkish fans are mental it seems! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmbrvV3Y1hU
  18. all those Bramble facebook groups that the mackems posted on when he was with us and taking the piss will have to be reworded
  19. Playing for Schalke isn't that bad actually. He might win the Bundesliga with them next season. will never happen .....they always fail at the last hurdle
  20. OK. As well as Milner has done in the last year, it beggars belief that Villa want £30million for him. Madness. True, but it's madness to sell anyone to Man City without opening negotiations at £30m. Apart from us
  21. Newcastle United in line to tie up Tom Cleverley deal http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2010/07/23/newcastle-united-in-line-to-tie-up-tom-cleverley-deal-61634-26913450/?
  22. He would move to Newcastle. He's said as much on his Facebook. We'll let this one flutter by. Talented player borderline begging for a chance to play for us and we'll let it go. Would be a coup, provided he is over his injury problems. Wont ever happen! according to Dutch media , his move to Mallroca apparently has fell through due to them going into administration the other day.
  23. Jonas Gutierrez vows to stay with Newcastle JONAS GUTIERREZ has made his intentions crystal clear before jetting back to Tyneside to begin his pre-season preparations for Newcastle United. United’s World Cup star was due back at the club’s Benton base after an extended break following his exploits with Argentina in South Africa. And while there has been reported interest in Italy from Roman giants Lazio, Gutierrez was keen to set the record straight. He said today: “I will stay at Newcastle, I feel very comfortable there. “I have a three-year contract and we have fantastic motivation there now, having successfully been promoted back to the Premier League. “There are other big leagues around Europe, but I am staying in England.” The words of Jonas were another boost for United today, but privately at Newcastle his future has never been in doubt. Gutierrez loves it at St James’ Park and was one of the first players to commit to United last summer in the aftermath of relegation before hitting back to win a Championship medal.
  24. would be very happy with him on loan.....anyways you know what the French players are like with NUFC most of the time. After a short while they start mouthing off and whinging to the papers....so a season loan would be ideal.
