  3. How does being born, moving to France the same year and living there for six before settling in Germany with his family and living there for the rest of his life, and learning to play football there, not make him eligible to play for Germany? Passing the Parky test somewhat as well with his family on his father's side being of German descent. exactly Podolski and Klose are half ethnic German (father's name is "Waldemar", that's very German). Look up "Silesia". A lot of ethnic Germans live there in Poland. And they're both half ethnic German. They moved to Germany when they were very young, went to school in Germany, learned football in Germany, and grew up in Germany.

  5. Liverpool didn't need to apply for a work permit when they signed him as he has an Italian passport.
  6. Carroll - I'm staying put Stoke-linked striker wants to stay and help Magpies Newcastle hot-shot Andy Carroll has dismissed transfer talk by declaring the Magpies are "the only team for me". The powerful frontman netted 19 goals last term to help fire the Magpies back into the top flight at the first attempt. The 21-year-old has been linked with a move away - with Stoke thought to be considering a £6million bid, while Birmingham are also believed to be interested. But the Magpies are close to offering Carroll a new four-year deal at St James' Park, which is expected to net the England Under 21 striker just over £1m a year - trebling his current wages. Quality And Carroll himself has scotched talk of a move away, pledging his future to helping the Magpies re-establish themselves as a Premier League force. He told the Daily Star Sunday: "This is where I'm from and Newcastle are the only team for me." Meanwhile, Magpies boss Chris Hughton has compared 6ft 3in Carroll's aerial prowess to that of England striker Peter Crouch. He said: "Andy is a bit like Crouch. Crouchy is probably four inches taller - but they are similar. "Andy is such a good technical header of the ball that, if the quality of the delivery is right, he will usually get it on target."
  7. oh dear Inter.... You can only 1 more Argie/Brazilian now per season........I guess many are on EU passports though anyway so maybe not too much difference Italian clubs will only be allowed to buy one non-European Union player in the coming season after the soccer federation voted to change the rules following the Azzurri's World Cup flop. 8. Criminally cheap. My head is actually in my hands. wouldn`t have been able to come to the Prem League anyway because of work permit rules (country has to be in the top 70 FIFA rankings and N.Korea are not)....but agreed 250k is a bargain.

  10. He's 32 and past it. I could see it when you were in the CCC but certainly not in the PL. Mint player during his prime, mind, best one those f*****s ever produced. could see him going to Wigan to play for Roberto Martinez. They were linked with a few times last season.
  11. just read (retirement home ) Milan signed 34year old Mario Yepes a while back... I remember when we were linked with him 2-3 seasons ago when he was on a free from PSG but many thought he was too old then...I guess not for Milan So much for reducing their average age of the squad....

  15. Fabio Capello has named Bobby Zamora as one of England's potential stars for the future -despite the uncapped Fulham striker turning 30 in January. During a media grilling, the under-fire England boss picked nine players not at the World Cup who he thinks could help turn around the national team's fortunes. Zamora was one of the players mentioned, along with injury-prone midfielder Owen Hargreaves, who has started just two games for Manchester United in the last two seasons. Also named were Arsenal youngsters Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott, who was the shock omission from the 23-man squad for South Africa. Other players listed wereTottenham defender Michael Dawson, passed over in favour of Jamie Carragher and Matthew Upson at the World Cup, Manchester City's Adam Johnson and Aston Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor. “Adam Johnson is one. Another is Kieran Gibbs, the Arsenal left-back," said Capello. "Also Dawson. He is not young but he is back. Also we have Agbonlahor and Zamora. Another player I hope will be fit is Hargreaves. "Walcott - I hope he can play and recovers, and his back and shoulder will be okay. Wilshere is another interesting player, another good player who we are looking for." The FA have announced they will take two weeks to decide on the England future of Capello.
  16. Rafael Da Silva at right back.....why not....every other national team seems to be adopting Brazilians

  18. Agent Denies Lazio Contact For Newcastle's Jonas Gutierrez The agent of Newcastle midfielder Jonas Gutierrez denies he has had contact with Lazio over the possible transfer of his client to the Aquile. Currently playing for Argentina at the World Cup, Pedro Jimenez Bravo says no offer has come in for the 26-year-old. "Jonas is a Newcastle player, and still has three years left on his current contract," Bravo told LaLaziosiamonoi.it. "He intends to respect that contract with the Magpies. "No one from Lazio has contact me up until now. Jonas and I are not thinking about any teams, other than the ones we serve," he added.
