  4. never heard of him , but linked in today's Daily Mail. Newcastle and Leeds are competing to sign Algerian international defender Walid Cherfa. The left-back, 24, plays for Spanish club Gimnastic Tarragona, but will be a free agent this summer after rejecting a new contract.
  5. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/22042010/58/premier-league-united-named-world-most-valuable-club.html Manchester United are the world's most valuable sports club, according to a report by Forbes. The American wealth magazine put the Red Devils at the top of their latest list of the world's richest football clubs, with an estimated value of £1.2 billion. And that leaves United flying high at the top of the sporting tree, ahead of the NFL's top team the Dallas Cowboys (£1.072 billion), and baseball's number one club the New York Yankees (£1.040 billion). Spanish giants Real Madrid are second on the list of top football clubs at £859m, with Arsenal third on £767m. European and Spanish champions Barcelona are fourth on £650m, but are the only debt-free side in a top six that is rounded out by Bayern Munich and Liverpool. Chelsea have slipped behind Juventus to ninth on the list after posting losses of nearly £50 million - the worst financial performance of any club in the top 20 - while Newcastle cling on to their place in the top 20 despite their relegation at the end of last season. Rank ---- Team ---- Country ---- Value 1 ---- Manchester United ---- England ---- £1,192m 2 ---- Real Madrid ---- Spain ---- £859m 3 ---- Arsenal ---- England ---- £767m 4 ---- Barcelona ---- Spain ---- £650m 5 ---- Bayern Munich ---- Germany ---- £643m 6 ---- Liverpool ---- England ---- £534m 7 ---- AC Milan ---- Italy ---- £520m 8 ---- Juventus ---- Italy ---- £426m 9 ---- Chelsea ---- England ---- £420m 10 ---- Internazionale ---- Italy ---- £268m 11 ---- Schalke ---- Germany ---- £249m 12 ---- Tottenham Hotspur ---- England ---- £242m 13 ---- Lyon ---- France ---- £216m 14 ---- Hamburg ---- Germany ---- £214m 15 ---- Roma ---- Italy ---- £200m 16 ---- Werder Bremen ---- Germany ---- £178m 17 ---- Marseille ---- France ---- £170m 18 ---- Borussia Dortmund ---- Germany ---- £170m 19 ---- Manchester City ---- England ---- £168m 20 ---- Newcastle United ---- England ---- £129m
  6. still canny funny looking back on it but they're about to be removed apparently. -- 'Downfall' parody clips being removed YouTube has started to remove popular Hitler parodies of the German film ‘Downfall’, which chronicles the last days of the Nazi dictator, over a copyright issue. The 2004 drama features a scene in which Bruno Ganz as Hitler rants in his Berlin bunker about his army’s failure to repel a Russian attack on the city. But it has led to a series of parodies, with users inserting new subtitles in the clip. ADVERTISEMENT There are around 70 comedy versions of the scene, with one of the more famous ones seeing Hitler bemoan his inability to access X-Box LIVE, while another finds him disgusted at how poor the eagerly-awaited ‘Avatar’ trailer was. Despite the film’s director Oliver Hirschbiegel conceding that he enjoys the parodies, Constantin Film has demanded that video sharing sites remove the clips. http://uk.movies.yahoo.com/21042010/5/downfall-parody-clips-removed-0.html
  7. from what I've read, he still hasn't decided whether to play for Slovenia (despite playing youth levels for them and being born there) or the country of his parents, Bosnia. I'm sure a shock world cup call up would help him make his mind but it will not happen. Certainly Bosnia have some cracking players (Misimovic, Dzeko, Pjanic, Ibesivic etc) also. Hope to see him at least come off the bench in the next game for a good 30 mins at least.
  8. used to play it back in the day when it was good (until the developers went the way of FM).....nearly failed my exams in the process then .....CM97-98 98/99 00/01 classics.
  9. he's a typical "number 10". he can't head the ball, couldn't really tackle a dinner, not too bothered about tracking back, only uses his right foot to stand on!, is quick, strong and has a wand of a left peg and is absolute quality. Not sure the Chronicle should be doing articles like today though as its just increases the hype and pressure on the lad for when he does break into the team! so other than pace, he's in the 'Viana type' mould? I do think Viana for example would have been far more suited in Serie A as more teams over there play formations (3-4-1-2) that accommodate 'number 10' type players. Maybe if Viana had chosen one of the reputed Italian clubs over us his career might have taken a different direction. Really hope Vuckic gets some game time in the next 2 games. Real big pity he has been injured these last few months as I was looking forward to seeing him blooded in.
  10. by Champ Man http://www.championshipmanager.co.uk/server.php?show=ConWebDoc.1684 Huge congratulations to Newcastle Untied who took the Championship title last night, crowning a quite incredible season in some very difficult circumstances. This achievement from Chris Hughton’s side should not be under-estimated, as so many other “big” clubs struggle to come back from relegation to the second flight (see Leeds United, Southampton, Coventry). However, unless they spend big, we really worry about them next year. Here’s why… 1. MIKE ASHLEY is still the owner. If he doesn’t spend, spend, spend the fans are going to turn on him again extremely quickly. But he’s surely still looking to sell, so him putting major investment into this side isn’t going to be his personal priority. 2. JONAS GUTIERREZ will surely leave. The Argentine has been absolutely sensational for the Magpies this season. He’s been the Championship’s player of the season by a county mile, but will surely be on his way to a bigger club. Jonas is reportedly the second name on the team sheet for Diego Maradona and Argentina (behind Messi) – if he has a good World Cup, who knows who will come in for him. 3. CHRIS HUGHTON lacks Premier League experience. The man will need time to settle, as he has only previously won one game as a Premier League manager with Newcastle (although he did win six at Spurs in 1998). 4. ALAN SHEARER will always be lurking. With more media attention on the Magpies, stories will be made up. They will no doubt revolve around Super Al wanting the hot seat, and while it might not be true, it’ll put pressure on Hughton. 5. ANDY CARROLL can’t do it alone at a higher level. The giant striker has loved big long balls being pumped to his head in the Championship and it has worked wonders. Against better centre-backs, your attacking play needs to be a bit smarter. 6. JOEY BARTON may well do something silly again. 7. MIKE WILLIAMSON lacks Premier League experience. As does Fitz Hall. And while they’re both great centre-backs (we’re not so sure about the other one with the perm) they might take a while to get used to the likes of Theo Walcott and Gareth Bale coming at them. 8. THE TOON ARMY have got the taste of success again. The fans are great, but after so many wins, expectations will be sky high. A couple of defeats on the spin and they might start protesting on the steps of the [email protected]/jjb-sportsdirect.html stadium again. 9. NICKY BUTT is older than the moon. He’s good in the Championship because he doesn’t actually have to move from the centre circle, but put some running in, his ancient bones might crumble to dust. 10. ALAN SMITH is… actually do you know what, he’s very good. As are so many things about Newcastle United. We can’t make 10 points, so we guess that bodes well! Fingers crossed there will be investment, because if it's one thing we know for sure, it is that the Premier League is a better place with Newcastle United in it.
  11. Dmitar Berbatov to unveiled as our first signing for the coming season....
  12. Totti made the 'thumbs down' gesture to Lazio fans, because with the loss, Lazio is in real danger of relegation this season..... http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/08QX7xs7Pcb8A/610x.jpg
  13. On those lines, anyone at Hoffenheim worth bidding for? Their season has turned to dogshit too. Ibsivic(sp?) Ba etc may be worth a shot OBASI OGBUKE!!! Their 2 forwards are very good. Demba Ba (was interesting Stuttgart a while back) and Ibisevic (Edin Dzeko`s strike partner at national level) also worth a look. Probably wouldn't come cheap. Probably enjoying it at Catania, half their squad is Argentine. Hey, we got Argentines too! and they`ve been relatively successful buying from S.America for relatively cheap prices and for good quality players. Hope we don`t rule out buying from there as there are some bargains to be had especially and with the economic situation Argentine clubs are facing currently....and our budget seemingly isn`t going to be that great.
  14. Hertha Berlin look like they are going to be relegated (though they've been showing very good form lately) and they do have a few very decent players in their side. Like the look of Raffael (skilful attacking midfielder) and Gojko Kačar (midfield). The latter seemingly has some bigger clubs after him though.
  15. Kadar waits on injury news Newcastle United defender Tamas Kadar is hoping his hamstring injury will not force him to miss the remaining weeks of the season. The Hungarian was starting just his sixth Championship game of the campaign in Saturday's 4-1 win over Blackpool and helped to create the opening goal for Jonas Gutierrez. However, he was substituted before the end of the first half and has now been ruled out of Tuesday's trip to Reading, with Jose Enrique set to return at left-back. Kadar is still waiting to learn the full extent of his injury and is determined to play his part in helping the Magpies secure the Championship title. Hopeful "Maybe my injury is not so serious, but the doctors still can't give the final diagnosis," Kadar told Pepsifoci. "I was happy to be chosen in the starting line-up and the game started perfectly for me as I made an assist. "I passed to Gutierrez and he scored a goal, but this was the moment when I injured my left hamstring. I hope it's not torn, but only strained. "I'm very hopeful because I want to play more games this season. So far, I just have to wait for the doctors to say how much I'm allowed to train." Source: Sky Sports
  16. Argentine, Lucas Biglia from Anderlecht Also, how has Anthony Van den Borre performed for Portsmouth? Not really followed the EPL much this season. He used to be a very promising player with bags of potential (I guess he still is at 22?). Was good for Anderlecht as a right/central midfielder from what I remember before transferring to Italy and seemingly forgotton about.
  17. he`s only just turned 28 last week so I don`t think he`s that old....
  18. Nice list :-D, many thanks. If anyone here has any connection with the club, pass the list to the club please ! Have deleted all the ones i a) dont know at all AND dont look good on wiki ;-), b) have no desire to see near us and c) simply no chance be it age/wages. pretty similar to the list I made ,bar Morientes (too old). Mario Santana would be a cracking signing (can play on the right wing or attacking midfielder).....Jonas and Colo could have some sway if we ever are interested but I doubt it. Hitzlsberger too would be a nice signing.
  19. he`ll be in his last year of his contract some summer so I guess the fee will be quite low.
  20. Newcastle United set to swoop for Blackpool FC star Charlie Adam It is reported that Blackpool FC midfielder Charlie Adam is on Newcastle United’s transfer radar. Adams has put in some impressive displays for the Seasiders and been instrumental in pushing them within sight of a chance of making the Premier League through the play-offs. Tribal Football reports that Magpies manager Chris Hughton has been impressed by the former Rangers man during their battle to escape the Championship. However, it seems the Magpies will face competition for the Scot, as he has also been linked with Bolton Wanderers and Fulham. http://www.clicklancashire.com/sport/blackpool-fc/126621-newcastle-united-set-to-swoop-for-blackpool-fc-star-charlie-adam.html?
  21. Still on loan at Malaga. I know because it's the same club Obinna is on loan at. We should get him in earlu June before he has the chance to showcase his talents at the WC. Good player with ample PL experience. Is he likely to be called up? I'd be slightly peeved if i was a Nigerian player who played all the qualifiers and he just walks straight into the squad at the last minute.....especially after he'd been turning Nigeria down on different occasions beforehand.
  22. wonder how much Spurs would want for him.....he`s cost £75 million in transfer fees during his career so far. As for Kuranyi....I don`t think it`s realistic with clubs like Juve sniffing about for him. He`s also been hinting at staying there, especially if Schalke manage to win the title (finally) and play in the Champions League.
  23. Krul`s contract is up after next season and I`d imagine he`ll be off if Harper is a regular next season.
