  1. The first one with Liv in it. ha ha
  2. Chelsea Man U Arsenal Man City
  3. They knew Owen, Viduka were out of contract which were the big hitters that drop it to £60m Lovenkrands and Cacapa were out of contract too. Given & Nzogbia were also on the payroll that contributed to the £70m so that drops you to £55m. Not sure about the other £10m like. Happy Face EDIT: Damn it Stu! Given and N'Zogbia left but Nolan and Taylor came in, which would have left the £70m bill pretty much the same. I agree the out of contract players going would drop it to between £55m and £60m, but like you say there's still at least £10m unaccounted for. Wise nicked it.
  4. The only differance this time will be that MA will have some money to spend without a crippling wage bill. No Wise to fuck things up either.
  5. This. (With the exception of Ronaldo, of course: at least he'll be able to tell us he told us so.) Bollocks. If we don't replace Hughton and half the first team we'll be relegated. FACT. You got a crystal ball with you? Perhaps you've foreseen Hull City's great start to last years campaign as well? My crystal ball is still tuned into last season. Remind me what happenned? I believe Ashley defied common sense, didnt strengthen, got relegated then appointed Hughton as manager for 18 months. Based on starting this thread you seem to have either forgotten or failed to understand what happened.... On the contrary dear sir, people who think Hughton and this squad are good enough have forgotten what happenned. It isn't even as good as it was when we went down.

  7. We still owed money on Owen, Martins and Duff...So you can take a fair chunk of the incoming off straight away. Martins for instance we still owed £5m on.

  9. Maybe, but do really think most of the players will be leaving? Of course they won't. If we don't refresh at least half the first team we will be relegated, so it don't really matter what I think. You might be right, but surely it's pointless debating based on things that we know won't happen. Must happen. We will return with wages under control again and spare cash and PL money. The decks have been cleared so to speak. If Ashley has learnt anything it's what is needed to stay up....Having been through it once. Personally I'd get Shearer and Speed in as soon as promotion is formalised. Wowsers! If we are going to bother with getting rid of Hughton then I would rather go for someone more established than Shearer. Going down was the ideal time to give Shearer his shot, but unfortunately it didn't happen for whatever reason. If we are making a change next season I wouldn't mind us making a play for Sven. I'm sure by then he would have been completely fed up with the weird goings on at Notts County. Sven is a very expensive date. But if it were possible of course. Can't see it though as his personal demands are notoriously high.

  12. Really don't think he's good enough for a PL campaign. I don't really care what the players think of him as most of them need getting rid as well. We don't want to be bottom 4/5 12 games in still wondering about Hughton.
  13. Will be out of his depth/comfort zone. I'd make the change immediately and keep him on as first team coach. We don't want to fiddle around with him while we lose games. A new manager would have a better chance with pre-season under his belt.
  14. Most of those players aren't good enough for the PL so can't see any reason that should have a bearing. We have to really do it properly this time as we are 2/3 years behind even the mid-table PL sides now.
  15. Should he be kept on as manager once we get promoted?
  16. Not even that really. Most of them time they've fluked their way to victory, been given a bogus decision or Gerrard has bailed them out. Liverpool only perform (just like their fans) for the final 10mins after Gerrard decides he wants to win the game. Now Gerrard is off form and Torres is picking up injuries left right and centre, which he always has done, they've got nothing left in the tank especially with the sale of Alonso, and the erratic form and behaviour of Macherano. Carragher going down hill faster than Eddie the Eagle has buggered their defence as well, everything is shite. Players like Babel could be the ones to pull it out for them, fresh legs and ideas, only Rafa has treated him with such disdain and hampered his progression Babel is only interested in his next move. Someone said all their bad luck is coming at once, evening out for the last 10 years of unreal good luck, i reckon they could be right, but their luck could easily change, string a couple of wins together through the other teams being poor and they morale will lift and their main lucky charm Gerrard could come fighting back. They are only 5pts off 4th and the media are treating it like they've been relegated, ok the momentum is with others, but Liverpool do have the experience of their manager, their players and fans, and that could be vital in the final push. They need to make some moves in the transfer market, I hear they've brought in Maxi Rodriguez who by all accounts is a good player last time i checked, it could be the spark they need. Liverpool aren't done yet, the end is when they sell Gerrard and Torres, if they do that it will be a long time before they are genuine title contenders and will struggle to be the cup team they are. I know he took a lot of stick last year for rotation, but you can see now that Gerrard and Torres have been overplayed. Along with Masch they are the only world class players in the side. What for instance is Babel's best position, not sure Rafa is really sure...Scores too many to play on the wing, yet isn't really a striker either. Lucas and Masch can't start together as they are too similar and lack creativity. They really need another striker, Ngog isn't even as good as the young Spanish lad at Man U who can't get games.
  17. Most probably, yeah. The amount of memories of Gerrard smashing in a last minute winner over the years are endless. Without him they would be a very average side. Benitez is probably is a decent enough manager, but for Liverpool he's signed a lot of players who didn't make the grade for whatever reason. Signs too many allrounders and not enough truly skillful players. Aquilani looks skillful, but looks too slight for the Pl and will need at least a season to settle and build up the stamina to play in the PL. It ain't the pass the ball around have a coffee break the European leagues are....The intensity must come as a shock.
  18. "Tom Hicks and George Gillett will surely be conscious that Liverpool's habitual Champions League qualification cannot be taken for granted now, in particular when Manchester City are going to such expense to reinvent themselves. The proprietors would not be human if they did not have reservations about Benítez's capacity to reinvent himself to meet that challenge. It would, of course, be terrifyingly difficult to name a successor who could galvanise the club and do so on modest means. On the other hand, no manager survives for long simply because it is awkward to appoint a replacement. Benítez will have to pull off an astonishing upsurge if he is to survive beyond the next few weeks and months at Anfield." Guardian
