  1. Don't think we'll sign any more players.
  2. "They coordinated their goal posts well and I think that didn't serve us particularly well. But we was strong and on the front foot."
  3. Celtic are fucking shit. Swedish football need this badly. There for the taking.
  4. And if our defensive effort was collective/our pressing was effective in the right areas. I made the exact same argument in the Tioté thread earlier today. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,70930.msg4556936.html#msg4556936 Doesn't matter how big they are, it's about not having to rely on the Stoke approach of defending. Look at Dortmund tackling the living shit out of every midfield with Gündogan and Sahin.
  5. It's not about the physicality but the collective defensive effort in the right areas of the pitch. If the lack of physicality is a problem with Sissoko/Anita/Cabaye, I'd rather we learnt to press like a team than rely on 6'4 players to stop the opposition. One of the main defensive problems was our inability to press collectively, the most obvious and rewarding trend in world football over the past few years is defending by well organised and energetic pressing in the right areas. We left everyone to themselves and backed off far too much when the opposition won the ball last season. I know it's a cliche to bring up Dortmund as an example in these times, but their pressing allows them to create havoc in the opposition half and stop attacks before they even have a chance to develop. Their midfield usually consists of Gündogan/Sahin/Kehl/Bender sitting behind a far more offensively minded player than Cabaye. I'm not arguing for us to transform into Dortmund, but their tactical approach in terms of pressing is generations ahead of ours. We could benefit from learning from them instead of shoehorning Tioté in there to "get a tackle on the pitch".
  6. Cabaye/Sissoko/Anita with Cabaye not in line with our CB's would be very interesting. Especially from a constructive point of view.
  7. Jonas LW. He learnt nothing? If Sissoko is viewed as a RW this season he wants shooting. Hatem at #10 is a nice idea, but have the common sense to drop Tioté for Sissoko instead of shoving him out wide.
  8. Really hoping for Anita to displace Tioté from the start this year. Most modern midfielder we have. Needs to be the link he's perfect for. Him, Mapou and Colo would be very re-assuring when bringing it out from the back.
  9. Thirded. He was also great vs WBA.
  10. There's one problem with the current policy - even though they are good players, they aren't always what we need. The most obvious example of this was when we wanted to replace Ba, didn't get Remy and then turned to Sissoko because he represented a "good deal". It's a frustrating approach which really cost us in terms of goals.

    Some journalists try too hard.
  12. Can't believe I look forward to the season. More than anything, Anita and Cabaye's quotes on us trying to play differently have swayed my mood. Remy's arrival further enhanced that feeling. If Pardew wants us to, we can be a very exciting team to watch this season.

Pete Graves from Skysports reported that there's an option to buy as well.

The complete lack of service and creativity didn't help either... Nor the 7 or 8 wrongly chalked off for offside... Or the fact that 9/10 times our attacks consisted of Cissé and Sissoko trying to do everything on their own.
  15. What a nose Soldado has. All over the place. Excellent signing for them. Many of them reckon Adebayor is off to Turkey though.

It's absolutely ridiculous that we can line up like that.

It's excellent squad wise. We needed someone who could play up top and at RW/LW and even more so - score goals. His pace is something we've missed as well.
