Newcastle United 0 - 3 sunderland - Post-match reaction from p58
Dr Venkman replied to Nobody's topic in Football
I'll never ever forgive him for this like, if I didn't think it would get me chinned I'd be making a Pardew out banner right now -
I really, really hope you get to see these players playing under a capable manager.

He is fit though. Pardew just chose to play Jonas instead.

Absolutely. Tried to say this yesterday and got the usual reaction. It was shit from everyone, not just the manager. I'm not having it. I can understand people don't want upheaval, but this head in the sand mentality is going to see us drifting next season as well. I've said enough times why I think he's not up to the job so I'm not going to repeat myself but two words will say more about his short-comings than anything else: Set pieces. What 'head in the sand mentality' is that, man? What, from what I've said there, gives that indication? People keep banging on about it's the player's fault, when it's clear as day that the team has no direction. That to me is head in the sand mentality. No, people don't 'keep banging on about it's the players fault', at all. People are, rightly, saying that the players deserve some of the blame for yesterday, as well as the manager. If anything, that's the opposite of burying their heads in the sand. Correct. People's expectations of what the squad is capable of is way too high imo. You keep saying this but you never back it up, how high are our expectations? Some people say top 7-8 which is laughable as the team has 1 goalscorer in double figures. I honestly believe it's between 10th-12th. Points wise we should be far higher than what we are now. Do you think top 8 is laughable on any other basis other than how many goals we score? If not, can I ask you a question? Aside from the ability to finish, what does a player need to score a goal? Obviously players need service for goals. I honestly don't think there's enough goals in the team and I think the squad is overrated. I personally don't think Cabaye is all their , Tiote I've said for months is a joke, Santon isn't a full back. Yes the service is crap but the amount of times there isn't anyone else in the box apart from Cisse is a joke, players need to take initiative when on the field. Service implies strikers, you're complaining about the fact that the only person who scores is a striker. We need to be creating chances, as a team, for anyone. The midfield has to contribute far more than what it is and has to when we play 1 upfront. Contribute what? Goals. Ok we're back where we started. What do we need to do to as a team that's going to make the midfielders contribute more goals?

I've thought about saying this for a while but imagined I'd get laughed at for living up to the stereotype. But a large part of me just thinks 'we're Newcastle United, we're more than likely not gonna win anything anyway, why don't we just have a go?' . At least the games would be fun.

I posted this months ago but my absolute worst nightmare is us getting relegated, because then we'd have Pardew as our manager in the Championship. Think about how bad that would be.

Some people are just looking for a bit of balance, it's fair enough as the players were awful. However, we all know that when a player has a bad game it's not necessarily the manager's fault, but when a team is out of form collectively and individually, it's the manager.

Yohan Cabaye (now sporting coordinator at Paris Saint-Germain)
Dr Venkman replied to a topic in Football
Agreed. He can shake hands and smile with whomever he wants as long as we're winning and he's playing well. That first half from his was for the second time in couple of days a disgrace. It just sends a really bad message to the players of both teams and the fans, we should've come out fierce as fuck in the second half and looking to pummel them, not smile at them, shake their hands and ask them how the wife is. -

Much like Cisse, they've put up with more of it than most and they can actually play. Rumours of Colo kicking off in the changing rooms as well, players will be off this summer. -
'Alan, you know you haven't met the fans expectations this season' 'I know Mike, I know what I have to do' 'Yep, get out there and lower them a bit more'

They're already on their holidays, the absolute best we can hope for is that we bore them into giving us a point. -

Needs to be playing further up, also needs to not be shaking mackems hands at half time when we're 1-0 down at home. -
Newcastle United 0 - 3 sunderland - Post-match reaction from p58

Have to agree with you on this like. Ben Arfa was all smiles with him walking off the pitch, absolute disgrace. I posted about this in the Ben Arfa thread. Our captain went out of his way to shake hands with N'Diaye at the start of the second half, what the fuck was he doing man? -
Absolutely. Tried to say this yesterday and got the usual reaction. It was shit from everyone, not just the manager. the only person who I thought did OK yesterday was Marveaux and he was no more than a 6/7 out 10. I thought Debuchy was the only other one that looked interested.

Daddy goose says he's up for it like.

This is it, I did feel slightly at odds with my attitude towards this game and my thoughts on our team/manager. But I elected to just plough on with my usual confidence in these fixtures. I couldn't have been more wrong, I just thought there was no way Pardew wouldn't be able to send them out motivated and that the individual ability would win the game in this particular fixture. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. Pardew can ruin anything. -

I think I needed this defeat to shake me out of being consistently confident in the build up to every derby. I promise I'll consider other factors in future, such as who's giving our team instructions. Sorry lads.
