should i get the ball rolling? http://www.nufc.com/2011-12images/2011-08-31east-stand.jpg

I was talking about the Santon and Cabaye comments but it wouldn't surprise me if Cattermole was given free reign by some if he had a dig about the board, that seems to be the most important thing at the moment because they're the root of the problems, howay man.
-
speaking for myself, if i may, if Cattermole tweeted that i'd find it hilarious.
-
footballing wise he's doing ok. i do agree that we haven't looked anywhere near convincing going forward this season but with the exception of a few occasions in the second half against fulham i think we've looked tight at the back.
-
Naming players the way he's done goes a step too far, regardless of "how oh so right" he is. Guess some on here have never worked in a professional environment, and don't have a clue what outside interference can do to morale. My one and only concern is that these players who are still with us remain focused on the football, and not get fidgety because some c*** who's been chucked out on his arse is s*** stirring, and creating waves in the media. yeah, ive never worked in a profesional environment. his tweets wont unsettle a team if they've got anything about them, removing the best players will. Absolute rubbish. The tweets get picked up by the media, and continue to keep the club in the news for the wrong reasons!! If you don't think media can put pressure on a football club, then you can't have been around English football for that long! edit: Plus, are his tweets going to stop the best players getting sold? (I agree with you that selling your best unsettles other players, that's obvious) i've worked in a professional environment and i've been around english football for ages, any other daft presumptions you'd like to base a point on? since when has media pressure made any difference to mike ashley's football club? i'm not even sure what point you're arguing now. what 'media pressure' is going to come as a result of bartons tweets other than pressure to stop selling our best players (for incoming transfer fees and so we dont have to re-negotiate contracts) as barton is highlighting? i can't agree that his tweets will unsettle anyone in our squad, every single one of them should be aware they have a price on their head and that if they've got a year left on a big contract it's not gonna be easy to get another one. why would they have to read joey barton's tweets to know that? i'm not applauding barton for it but i'm certainly not condemning it. getting into a position where you deny someone the right to speak the truth in order to allow us to keep running the club on a shoestring budget without players getting unsettled is a completely backwards position, imo.

-
who says he's helping? he's telling the truth (as he sees it and as it appears you do) there's nothing wrong with that imo. his tweets wont unsettle a team if they've got anything about them, removing the best players will.
-
He is right tho. So what? Does he deserve a biscuit? Trawl the threads for the players he's mentioned, and you'll see how many times people have posted suspecting they would be sold this window or that. We already know this! There's no need for him to stir shit, when it will have absolutely no impact on the situation whatsoever. there is a need in his opinion though, he's been sacked off by the owners after having a very good season and doing his job. makes sense as to why he's gonna highlight that the owners aren't doing their bit in a football sense and will happily dismantle a team for financial reasons that get less pressing as time goes on.
-
i simply cant muster any frustration with him for saying all that because he's absolutely right imo

QPR v NUFC - Monday 12th September. Live on Sky (8pm kick-off)

not sure barton will be very effective in this, cabaye and tiote should look after him, even if he's on the right jonas will help santon shut him down -
I think Carr fulfils this role only not in name. Pardew will have some imput but I imagine it would be minimal. I don't think Carr does that job. He's a scout whose job is to put together a list of possible signings, Pardew would then discuss them with Carr, maybe have a look at the ones he doesn't know and then put names forward to Llambias in order of preference. Imo it is at this stage that the real problem lies. I don't think DL is competent or experienced enough to do this job properly. he's obviously ok at bringing in free transfers, activating release clauses and acquiring players generally discarded by their club, basically anything easy. looks like negotiations aren't his strong point though. for an ambitious owner, the above might be a problem worth fixing.
-
i'm not even sure that's true tbh
-
At the time we had players valued highly, Owen, Duff, Martins, Given, Parker etc, then you had 52,000 gates every home game, chuck in the training ground and various assests. ok, but if you cant make a profit, and you're a business man, whats the point?
-
i wonder why the club was even valued at 140m anyway? given that it's supposedly obvious you cant make a profit in football? and if you cant make a profit, how on earth did freddie and SJH get away with taking so much cash out? looks like profit to me
-
Mate, have you just signed up to whinge constantly? What's the point? Trying to come up with ideas of ways to protest that might actually get through to Mike. This might not be the brighest of them, just brainstorming basically. there is only one, stop giving him money. and you'd have to stop a significant amount of others doing it to. almost impossible.
-
i'm assuming you dont have concrete knowledge of that, and with this in mind i'd say it's highly doubtful that he gets bonuses for anything to do with spending or wages, considering he's likely to have as much to do with it as you or i. league performance, fair enough.
-
there's an awful lot of SJH going on in this thread and i fear some are confused over Sir John Hall and St James Holdings

Boo hoo you spoiled child. They say it takes a bigger man to walk away. Dont see why anyone should be abused for not wanting to let Ashley rub s*** in his face each week under the pretence of 'supporting the team' I see absolutely nothing wrong with that stance. Ashley has quite cynically calculated that he could spend the bare minimum in the hope that fans will be deluded enough to keep buying season tickets. That attitude doesn't deserve to be rewarded. Even though I hate to see St James looking less than full it's perfectly understandable for people not to buy into his make do and mend crap. I came to this conclusion, via a different route, earlier in the summer: 1. There are just much, much better things I can be spending my time and money on - I would much rather spend some quality time with my kids, or play guitar with my band. 2. The only thing I can do which will in any way impact Mike Ashley is to not give him any more of my money. Can see a lot of people doing this tbh i started a while back although i have the odd slip up i'm afraid May well be the same eventually, would prefer the slip ups to be away but am not giving him £20 membership for it. there's some nice folk on here who'll help you out with away tickets mate

if they all join in he might not feel so lonely? seriously though, it's not about making a fool of him, it's about making him/them account for their actions, nowt wrong with that.
-
Why would that happen then? He's been put out by two terrible tackles, not by a Kieron Dyer like hamstring explosion. while i wouldnt go as far as adam, a muscle strain or two is par for the course after being out of competitive football for so long
-
Too much pressure and hope is being heaped on the lad. You say he's lucky he can play at all, but can he? A pre season game against Darlington is hardly proof of that. the very reason he cited for moving was that he was under too much pressure to perform at his former club
-
How will the squad get good? Ashley never spends anything so it's a wonder that we have any good players that other teams might be interested in. I mean getting good players, the likes of Tiote and Cabaye, i was trying to say we simply buy them to sell them on. So we do buy good players then? Not what I've heard from most people on here. we make speculative small purchases and acquire players on free transfers, if a player proves their worth on the pitch and asks to be paid what they're worth, we move them on. we dont pay the going rate in fees or wages. Who decides this 'going rate'? the nearest i can get to answering that is saying the market decides it. wages are a lot lower in france, hence our recruitment from there primarily.

really? who's gonna play centre half if colo or taylor gets injured? who's gonna score enough goals to keep us in the top 8?
