reckon bruce will rest all the new signings on the first day to make sure they're fit to play us?

quid each from sports direct, some of the carroll money's gone on the underpants too, get that in the chron.

what's this sudden trend with them all calling us jealous all about? why are we all so jealous?

Even if it saves us £2million by waiting? points get you further up the table, which gets you more money I agree, but no-one could say with any conviction that if we lose those games, it's because we didn't buy Zog sooner. Just seems a pointless argument. If you were the owner of this club, of course you'd be waiting for the moment when you feel you can get the best deal. What's the point in paying £1million more for someone than is neccessary? i could say with total conviction that we'd 1. have a better chance of securing his signature if we didn't wait until the last minute 2. have a better chance of acquiring points with him in our squad instead of someone else's for the first 3 games of the season getting the best deal for me would be paying what he's worth and getting him, that'd be it really. we've already sold someone for what is by all accounts a lot more than he's worth so we can afford to pay what someone's worth once this summer at least? but yeah i know what you're saying

Thats exactly how I see it. Good old 1 in 1 out strategy. What is our squad number at now? 23 is it? Throw in a striker and a left back and that will take us to 25, so it's reasonable to expect a 1 in 1 out strategy after that tbf. fine, just get rid of guthrie, raylor, routledge or smith instead of barton If it was that easy to get rid of some of them don't you think they would have gone already? are you telling me we couldnt get rid of ONE of the first 3? My understanding is they're up for sale and haven't gone anywhere as of yet. Same goes for Barton. if it has to be 1 in 1 out try and get rid of the players who have little impact on the team, not players who have higher wages, just because they have higher wages. that's all i'm saying. There are no takers as yet for any of them so it makes sense to get rid of everyone that has no long term future at the club as soon as possible if it means replacements can be brought in, Barton included. fine, fine. just get rid of any of them 3 before barton, he can play football a bit.

a list of excuses in the local paper, i despair.

it would seem likely wouldnt it. i wonder if villa will get him for less than they receive for downing. they'll get a better player AND make a profit, there'll be absolutely nothing for the fans to argue about.

The four players we've already signed not count? If it was me I'd want every signing in before the start of the season at the very latest. Well so would everyone, but in reality it's not always possible. it might be if we put a bid in for him

any club they try and offload him too would have to pay his wages like, they could easily have to pay him for the full term Aye, another Alan Smith situation, basically. indeed, i dont imagine he's gone for the ambitious project at this point in his career.

good lad, give him no.9

Not much business between now and the start of the season would be ok as long as we dont lose anyone

potential to be very tasty indeed

everything in moderation Couldn't agree more, but you can't just ignore the financial realities of the situation because it's football. Which seem people seem very very keen to do. personally i'm keen for them not to ignore the footballing realities but whatever floats your boat. just look at everything else the club is doing, now we're getting rid of badly needed squad players for no other reason than to stop paying them wages, EVERYTHING is geared towards cost cutting for f***s sake, EVERYTHING. when does this become not good enough for our club? after 10 more seasons 'trying to attack the top ten and challenging in the cups' ? Not sure where that little temper tantrum is going. All I am pointing out is that it is utterly ridiculous for people to ignore the financial realities of running a business. The fact that this particular business is a football club doesn't alter the fundamental principles on which the business should be run. People making statements about not caring about balance sheets, the wage bill or levels of debt are deluded. being patronised isnt going to stop me caring passionately about the club. i agree, but on the other side of the coin there's a fair few who've been completely sucked in

we don't need a squad, if they're not starting every week get them off the wage bill   Did you read it? Genuine question, because that is not what is being reported. Pardew - "It is about accepting your role in the squad. We have players like Joey Barton and Fabricio Coloccini who will be expecting to play every game. But we also need players who will need to make competition for places below that group. Some may not see a lot of football. It is up to them if they are prepared to stay and be in that role – or move on." noises that these players were available for sale have been around for weeks now, dont you think pardew would have had the conversation with them BEFORE these leaks if those comments were genuine? can you read that?

we don't need a squad, if they're not starting every week get them off the wage bill   there's only one player there that should be going and everyone knows who it is. i've never been big fans of routledge and best but they should be adequate back up, ranger and lua lua should be given more time to push on. if any of these players want to leave of their own accord thats a different matter but forcing them out to save even more cash, ffs man.
